You can surely have coffee on your Observation Deck balcony. It should have two chairs and a tiny table. No room for a footstool though! (Note for the future: this is not true of Deck 11 Verandahs on the Eurodam, which have curved Juliet balconies and NO furniture!)

My husband and I would actually choose the Ob.Deck Verandah -- we don't use the balcony much and prefer the sofa and desk nearer the hall. And love to be on the same deck as the Crows Nest which becomes your extended living room!

Also, note: on Deck 11, you will be steps from the Explorations Cafe and not have to settle for Room Service coffee to enjoy on your balcony!

Ok.  You’ve reminded me of all the reasons we wanted that deck!   Thanks!

The VQs on the Observation Deck 11, have Juliet or "viewing" balconies. This gallery shows the room and balcony:

Note, the sofa and desk are away from the balcony.

You might want to change to a Spa Verandah on the Panorama deck -- which are standard Verandahs with standard balcony. With sitting area NEAR the balcony. And just one flight of stairs from the Crows Nest!

Ok. Now you’re scaring me. 🙈.  You can at least sit out there can you not?   The best part of a cruise is morning coffee on the balcony.

That’s what I read and I thought surely that can’t be the case LOL.   Oh well.  We really enjoy being close to the crows nest.

Does anyone have an iPod anymore LOL?   I’ll bring my audio cord to connect to my phone.  Thanks.

Sorry to say, not much in the way of perks.  You are up high and forward and I believe that the verandah itself is smaller than the regular ones.  You get some vitamin water, a yoga mat (use only, no taking home) and I think a dock for an iPod or charger.  You'd think with a name like that, you'd get a discount at least in the spa, but you don't.

If I've missed or gotten anything wrong, someone please correct me.

  5. This is our first “longer” cruise on a ship without self serve laundry and honestly it’s a real draw back for me.  I have a question that most of you will think is ridiculous but here goes…..when you send out a bag of laundry is it done on its own or thrown into the ginormous machines with other people’s clothes?

Yes I was on the May 7th and yes I would agree we got the worst of the Crown cruises so far.  Multiple last minute itinerary changes, late ports, plumbing issues, 2200 passengers, lack of staff, closed restaurants that they advertise and equipment out of service on a ship that was idle for 2 years. I am aware that your cruise got more compensation than us, and I'm glad cruisers got more as IMO this was avoidable.  I'm also aware that some other sailings got less or nothing at all.  The amount of compensation we received is what I want to discuss with someone from Princess's management.  I've sent many emails and placed several calls and have given multiple timelines from CS that someone from the management side would reach out to me, they have all come and gone. It appears what Princess is doing by announcing changes last minute is a benefit to the company at the expense of the paying customers.  And I am quite aware of the contract that I signed, I think it's awful that Princess wants to hide behind the contract for issues that were known.  This has the appearance of a bait and switch situation.

At this point in addition to my numerous attempts to contact Princess (as of now I've only asked for a return call to discuss my experience and ask for more FCC) I have filed a complaint with the BBB, and my next step is to file a complaint with the Federal Maritime Commission.  Beyond that I've thought about contacting a local consumer reporter for assistance.  I only took these recent actions because I do feel Princess is ignoring my complaints. Yes I am aware that I am opening myself up to criticism especially from the Princess loyalists, but what would you suggest? Again I've only asked for a return call to this date which I've been told is coming from Princess.

Reviews of the Crown, plenty of cruisers were unhappy:

Thank you all for sharing.  It is awful that you have had to go through this, but because of reviews such as this, we just cancelled our Sep California Coast Line cruise as they have no intentions apparently of repairing the ship until they put it in dry dock on October 2nd!!!!

I do feel bad for the company, 2 years no business and then this - BUT - it doesn't excuse them for sailing a ship that is not sea-worthy.

  7. Just off the Zuiderdam and the only thing I can complain about was the lack of TV programming.  ( well, and maybe the fact that the sleep timer didn’t work on the remote)😉.    Under the TV series it was all HAL programming on ports etc.  No Half hour comedies or hour series to watch.

In in the Cruise Brochures from the future Cruise desk it says under amenities for suites something to the effect of “enhanced TV programming” but when I asked the future Cruise person they said no, all the same programming.

Anyone know now if you do get a more diverse choice in a suite?

  8. We will be on the Zuiderdam and have the beverage pkg, but are not sure that the wines that are included in this are what we want.  To upgrade to the Elite pkg is an option, but if its only for the wine, we are considering adding on the Cellar Master Package and have a few questions, that someone may have the answers to...

    - from what Cellar # are you picking your wine from?

    - does the price go up to buy this on board as opposed to prior

If anyone has any thoughts, guidance or information, it will be appreciated.
