  1. Had a wonderful , early in season Alaska  cruise in L107. What a great cabin. Not so sure I want to sing its praises as others will catch on to this great category of cabins. The drapes were never pulled close in the evenings by our cabin steward.

The balcony size was beyond for this class of ships. I can only imagine the parties that could be enjoyed in a warmer sailing. No desire to do the Mexican Riviera any time , but would love to do it just to enjoy this cabin.

Spending less than a full suite but so worth the money , for size and privacy. The views alone from the deck alone was worth every penny spent. Indulge......

  2. This is a real highlight of great experiences on board. Had the great pleasure of this dining journey on a recent voyage to Alaska.

The only caution I would make for parents and families. Know your children well and how they will react to a new food experience. We had two very upset teens who were so sour and complained till they were excused. It was a relief to all when they left the room. There were also two adorable little boys who loved the interaction and visuals, however cried at every course because all they wanted were chicken fingers, No fault of the children or for that matter the parents as they were ill informed of the culinary diverse journey we would be taken on.

If anyone is fortunate to get the invitation, do so, as I fear this will become a paid experience very shortly in the future,

  3. Thanks to everyone who offered up some great ideas, and solutions. However taking everything into consideration , have decided to cancel this particular voyage and put it back into the bucket list. There will be a day when all the stars align and all is good.

    Thank you all.

  4.  Due to travel restrictions we have NO choice , but to arrive the day of departure. The ship is to depart at 8.00pm. The flights we are looking at do not arrive till 4.20pm that day. We will have no checked luggage just carry on. Have never sailed from Tokyo, aside from the obvious is this just too little time to get to the port. All flights through Holland America arrive at 3.00pm. Would really appreciate some input from any experienced cruiser having navigated Narita to Yokohama.

  5. When we had a few issues with Princess both onboard and customer support. I contacted Collin Steinke directly through email. I felt my concerns were met and above all listened to. A swift resolution was met and all parties I believe were satisfied.

There is nothing wrong with looking at other cruise lines. However if the chat boards are any indication no one line is perfect. Happy sailing.

  6. First time to sail in this cat. Chose L107 for an Alaskan cruise on Discovery this spring. Having only seen this cat. of cabin on video, it will be nice to try it out if only for a 7 day cruise. Never had club class, and have purchased Princess Premier as well. This trip will see if it is worth all the hype If so. will up our game next year on the new Sun Princess, fingers crossed.

  7. Rick and Jeannie , so happy the Island seems to be working out for you both. Was on her in August of this year. Have never been so happy to see the end of a cruise in all the years with Princess. If it had been an option to fly home early, that plane would have been full of passengers and some crew.

There came a point though, when you had to make a decision to make the best of the remaining days onboard. Turn the attitude around a create a good time. It was  the only thing that saved The Island, from being the worst cruise. The people you choose to meet and the attitude in which you approach a disappointing experience.

Bottom line, will I ever choose The Island ever again or even recommend her.....NO. But I will always cruise with Princess because of the great people on board and the lasting friendships. Happy cruising everybody.

  8. Was booked on the fall transatlantic from Copenhagen. Hotels booked and EZ air  all in. took a look this morning and poof all up in the air. Flights , hotel and transfers all off my file. I quickly looked at flights with the actual airline and that reservation is still intact at this point.

I called Princess but the wait times were way too long. I figured it was probably an full deployment change, so I will sit put and take a wait and see approach.

Prior to covid I may have gone a little bonkers , but this could be my 5th rebooking and rescheduling in the past year and a half. I just want to get back again, as we all do. Hang in there everybody.

  9. Having never booked a pre cruise hotel through Princess before for any of the sailings we have been on. Never have visited  Copenhagen prior to this upcoming sailing. We were just wondering if the hotel,s chosen by Princess are situated relativly well for city exploring, and in general good value for the dollars spent. Any feedback and suggestions are greatly appreciated. I believe we are currently booked at The Tivoli.

    • Iceland is not Greenland, oh how true. Having done both, Iceland just may be the better choice for our OP. Do some serious  contemplation of both, I found all the ports in Iceland to be really interesting.  There is a thriving art community and cultural aspect as well as a natural beauty to be appreciated in every port.
    • The Greenland voyage offers a whole new kettle of fish so to speak. The three ports are incredible in a whole other fashion. There is not the infrastructure to support a average North American cruisers expectations. Throw all those ideas out and get ready to enjoy and immerse yourself in a totally different way of life. Explore the grocery stores, eat at an asian cafe with a Greenland perspective on Asian Fusion. Explore a interactive local museum, or just take the time to expand your inner soul and enjoy the silent beauty. It was incredible and that what draws me back again in 2022.
    • So it might be that your husband thinks you are crazy. Do some research and decide if it right for your style and if you can handle the challenges. You both need to be of one mind for this one. Otherwise he will not get any joy from Greenland as a destination.

  10.  Did the same cruise also, yes there were issues with the Caribbean Princess but not bad enough to stop from booking the same trip again. Do not expect an Alaskan style cruise, anything but. No Diamonds international here or even an abundance of organized touristy things to do. Put on your nature hat and shoes and explore. The Canadian ports are fantastic and well worth the visit. A voyage l worth the effort if you leave all expectations of ports of call geared for a tourist onslaught.

Looking forward to going back August 2022.

  11. Looking for feedback before biting the bullet and upgrading from a regular mini suite to Club Class. If you have completed a sailing with this class did you find it enhanced your experience on board. My thoughts are if it is that good, were you satisfied sailing the next time with out the perks Club Class offers. What was your experience,  thanks in advance for the input.

  12. Has anyone booked L108 on, Royal, Regal, Majestic, or Sky for a trans Atlantic crossing. Booked a mini suite for the Spring crossing on the Enchanted 2023. Thinking of upgrading to club class. L108 looks nice. However as noted, the doors may be locked for balcony access. Million dollar question, has anyone has this location and have the doors been locked for the majority of the voyage.

  13. It is really sad to say but my faith in Princess, has come through 3 cancelations, and the events of this past year. To lose my loyalty seems petty but I am shopping other cruise lines. This latest tech fiasco has pushed my buttons. Not only being locked out but also to find out, that along with the mix up. My files were transferred to another agent in Europe. It took my agent of 20 years , 2 days to have them transferred back to her care. Little things do make a big difference.

The grass is not always greener on the other side, however I may do some window shopping.

    HOW MANY WEEKS NOW?

  14. On several accounts this information can be found out quite easily. If you choose to explore  The Greenland Tourist Board you will note their slogan and new campaign ad for 2020 is " Do not cancel, postpone. We will be here when your ready." The campaign is accompanied by some of the most wonderful shots of Greenland. Having remained in contact with friends, who are curators of a series of Museums across Greenland. They  were informed by the local governments at each site not to count on tourist income for the remainder of 2020, any projects and funding from that source would be put on hold.

We had planed on returning to Greenland this year. Until this pandemic changed the world as we know it. So not wanting to do a TA. with no ports to call on for 16 days. We will hope the world heals itself and we can all go explore this part of the world in 2021 , safe and healthy once again.

  15. It is one thing for Princess to carry on as if all things will like magic open up all over the world ports at the same time period. We know Canada has yet to set a firm date and is at this point, is very wary of doing so. The UK may impose a 14 day period prior to boarding from their ports. At this point Greenland has said no cruise season this year. Iceland is open but with great restrictions. As for Europe, well that has yet to be seen.

There would be nothing nicer than to sail again, safe and sound. The world is not yet our oyster, so to speak.  In the meantime keep the faith , stay safe and one day, that world will be ours again to sail to our hearts desire.

  16. Having only sailed on the larger vessels in the Princess fleet. The next two sailings booked are on the Island Princess. Both these cruises were chosen based on itinerary and destination only. I am looking for some constructive feed back on the Island Princess from those members whom have already sailed on her. Some of the reviews are not to flattering recently but  as with all cruises, not everyone has the same experience.  2020 Top of the World Explorer. 2021 Mediterranean and Israel.

  17. We also had the amazing opportunity to be on this Greenland Adventure. Greenland and Canada did not disappoint at all. The ports of call were incredible in so many ways. Pack a great sense of adventure with you and enjoy every minute what you are seeing.

Since coming home we have explored the idea of going back on our own. Our research has shown us just how costs would add up. So much so that Princess is a real bargain for exploring this part of the world. Not to be missed, it will change your life in so many wonderful ways.

Yes there were problems on the Caribbean Princess, but if Princess chooses to listen to the feedback, that can be changed.

In Greenland, we chose to do the exploring on our own and for us it was perfect. My biggest tip would be, in the small ports of call get on the early tenders if at all possible. Some people waited up to 2 and a half hours to get to shore.

So very worth seeing this part of the world. Enjoy the adventure.

  18. I too was on this crossing. It is very interesting to see different perspectives, all are valid as we all get out of it what we want to. Was is a deep disappointment to have the changes happen that we all experienced , yes. Was it the right decision, probably. Will this crossing be the best one ever for me, no. That being said I had the pleasure of meeting some of the nicest staff and fellow passengers I have ever had the pleasure to sail with. Some of which I sincerely hope to have our paths cross in the future, memories I will treasure forever . Please keep in mind. we all walked off in New York. Somebody, was airlifted in the ocean and taken to hospital. Safe travels everyone.

  19. What to expect on turn around day, as I have nothing to base this on having never booked a back to back prior. The turnaround port is Vancouver. What I am inquiring about is, how much time we can expect to have exploring Vancouver on that day. Should we consider a tour with Princess or just explore the city on our own. Say hop on hop off.

Port arrival is 7.00am and departure is 4.00pm. Not much time so will want to be as efficient as possible with such a tight window.

Do they allow clearance for those staying on board, to get off the ship without the usual line ups for those who choose to disembark.

  20. We were on the same crossing, what an amazing trip. I am surprised considering the crossing we had from Norway, then up the North Sea. Those poor engines were put through the paces. So glad to hear you had a great trip. My point being, listening to other threads considering the state of this vessel, for the time being we will book another sailing. More about our comfort level. We can always revisit her in 2019, post surgery.

Would love to do Iceland again, totally amazing.

  21. This past week we booked, September this year on the Caribbean Princess. Not having sailed on her since a TA in 2016, we were excited to see the new updates.

Well thanks to cruisecritic, we have decided to put our trust in another ship and a new itinerary, for September. We had experienced some engine difficulties on our crossing. To find out that Princess has allowed the problem to persist did not fill us with confidence. Changed ports, reduced time in port, and the possibility of an interrupted holiday. All because of a band aid solution to try and see her through till 2019. NO THANKS.

I am well aware that anything can happen to any ship at any time. For me I would feel better putting my trusted holiday plans in another vessel. Catch you later Cartagena .

  22. There has been plenty said about the dress code as set out by Cunard. Next year how excited I was to see the Alaskan journeys posted. I have sailed the Alaskan waters several times, and have enjoyed the "relaxed" atmosphere that it has afforded. This is the land that considers "matching socks at dinner" , formal wear. That being said, we booked and are in fact looking forward to a little more formal experience. Makes for a little extra packing, but am looking forward to a return to a gentille sailing.
