We are doing a P&O British isles cruise in July.We visit 3 Scottish Island locations Kirkwall,Lerwick and Stornaway.

We are thinking on doing a daily car hire.Has anyone any experience of car hire while visiting these islands?Im thinking on how practical is it re car hire location proximity to ship ports for pickup,return.

Thanks to everyone for your comments and advice.Especially Scarlet for the knowledge and views on travelling from north of the border.I was coming round to coach was the way to go after chatting to our TA..until they said about the 330 am departure out of Glasgow which Scarlet also referenced...so the jury is still out🤔

Hi, Not new to cruising, but new to both P&O and Southampton sailings.

Whats the opinion of our UK members ,or even better Scottish members in the 

best option for travelling to Southampton.We are not sailing until next July but

we were giving some thought to our travel plans from the Glasgow area.So far

looked at both air travel and cruise connect coach service.Anyone have any personal

experiences or recommendations.Thanks in advance.

Does anyone know if there are any tours either available at the port or to prebook to

see some of the marine life around the island.We have an 8 hour stop here as part

of our cruise.Looking on trip advisor but not much there,and not too complementary!

Feel this would be an opportunity for a bit of variation on our sightseeing,when we reach this port.

Many thanks for all replies.We are NOT on the premium package,but already it sounds much better than NCL (which used to drive us mad at times!)

Last year was the first time I purchased this on an NCL cruise. Just wondering how it compares on Celebrity .Most of the ship seemed to be on the package so there were nearly always large queues at peak time.It seemed to be made worse as all drinks had to go thru the till and receipts signed.What is the system on Celebrity like.Also are you given a band or do they put a sticker on your cabin card to identify this.Many thanks.

We visit Turkey a lot and it always annoys me when the locals ask if you want cost in uk pounds or turkish lira.

When in the country I would expect to pay in the local currency and rarely give my own currency a thought,except to convert in my head!

Hi, Does anyone who has visited Shanghai on a pre or post cruise visit,know this?

I am trying to check out the cost of a taxi from a hotel in the Bund area to Wusongkou International Cruise Terminal.

Also what the approx price of a taxi from airport to Bund area .The cab from hotel to port would probably be for 4 including luggage so may be a bit bigger.The airport one would just be for 2 of us.

if it helps I printed my flight tickets/hotel reservations and cruise itinerary.Filled in the paperwork/form.Went along to the visa centre in Edinburgh with all this and our passports to submit.Returned 4 days later to collect and pay.All seemed acceptable and pretty straightforward.Hardest part was the bill!

If I understand all this,I guess I fail to qualify for the new visa free entry??We arrive in Shanghai March 23 from UK and board our ship March 25.Our first port of call is Beijing and we leave there on March 30.So thats 7 days (168 hrs) and still in China!Any experts out there confirm,thanks.??

I asked a similar question for these ports about 10 days ago,but got no recommendations.Hope you may be luckier.Since then I have been researching so I will share any gems I uncover.Enjoy your cruise.

Not cruised with Celebrity before.A quick question ..do you know if you can use your obc's to pay for ship shore excursions?If so,can they only be used if you book once on ship or can you pay pre cruise with them if you advance book?Many thanks.

We seem to be on the same wavelength on hotels Yamanid.We booked Novotel in Hong Kong for a stay post cruise next April!

its the RADISSON BLU NEW WORLD..our cruise is 25 March,so will let you know my thoughts on the hotel etc before you go.Cheers.

As a fellow Scot...it came down to price.I think I got a good deal through amoma.com for the Radisson.

We were also and opted for the Radisson.However can't offer any advice as we don't stay there till March next year.

Flights booked,Hotels booked...so my next project is excursions for our Shanghai to Hong Kong cruise.

Any advice on tour sites,self guide tips,private taxi options for the following ports to get me started -

SEOUL

JEJU ISLAND

NAGASAKI

TAIPEI

Also any tourist spots I MUST not miss.Thanks all in advance for your help.
