  1. I'm planning a Carnival Cruise out of Brisbane.  This will be my first time going to Australia.  I'll be flying from Kentucky.  Anyone have any advice/ words of wisdom, on things I should not miss, flight tips, what to expect both on the cruise, and the long flights?  Thanks in advance.

  2. I tip the steward $40 at the end of the cruise, if good service is provided. Not at the beginning as my intention is for it to be a tip, not a bribe. That said, I leave it up to him/her to share with their assistant. I would hope they would, but if they don't, I figure it's their business. I never come in contact with their assistants, and I figure that getting extra tips is a perk of being the head steward.

If you tip before it is not a bribe. It is a tip as were tips were origianlly intended.

  3. Hello everyone. I have used FTTF in the past and absolutely loved it. At the time I thought it was worth every penny and vowed to do it on all future cruises. My question is now with the staggered check in is it still worth it? I understand there are other benefits but the main one is the priority boarding.

  4. From John just now:CARNIVAL LIBERTY STATEMENT

    September 7, 2015 – 9 pm EDT

While docked in St. Thomas today Carnival Liberty experienced an engine fire that was extinguished by the ship’s automated suppression system. There were no injuries to guests or crew. All guests remained ashore through this evening while the ship's technical systems were evaluated. Presently, all hotel services including air conditioning, elevators, toilets, galleys, etc. are fully functional.

Crew was permitted to reboard at approximately 5:30 p.m. EDT to prepare for the anticipated embarkation of guests. At approximately 8 p.m. EDT the U.S. Coast Guard gave permission for guests to reboard.

Dinner is being served in the main dining rooms and Lido, and a variety of entertainment and activities are available.

A team of experts is in the process of conducting a deeper technical assessment of the affected engine room that is expected to be completed in the morning. At this time it has not been determined when the ship will depart St. Thomas.

We apologize to our guests for the inconvenience and appreciate their patience.

Carnival Liberty is on the second day of a seven-day Caribbean cruise that departed San Juan yesterday with 3,346 guests and 1,150 crew.

  5. It is offered on all the ships. The only difference is it is a shorter tour on shorter cruises, I believe 4 days or less. I did it on the Breeze a couple years and loved it. You go back stage of the theatre. Go to the galley, crew bar, crew mess, laundry facility. Then you go down to the engine control room, and up to the bridge. I would highly recommend it if you like to see how things are done. I have tried to talk my wife into doing it with me. She says she won't she like things to be "magic." I am planning on doing it again on the Dream next month if I can. The tour is very limited. They only do two groups of 16 and they fill up fast. Go sign up as soon as you get on the ship or you will miss it.

  6. My wife and I are booked on the Dream in cabin 2310. It is a cove balcony. First time in a cove and I am looking forward to it. Has anyone stayed in this room that can answer a couple question?

Is there a view of the sky or is blocked by the lifeboats? I know most of the cove balconies are blocked but in pictures it looks like there are some where there is a gap and allows for a view of the sky.

According to the deck plan it appears the room is directly under the dining room. What should we expect with that? Will there be a lot of noise? Will there be a food smell? I think the food smell would bother my wife more than the noise.

Thank you in advance for your answers. Happy cruising.

  7. I love cruising on Halloween. Have done it a couple times. They decorate the ship. Have a costume contest, for the adults. The costumes range from family friendly to not so much. Also if you are a gambler the casino does special giveaways all night.

  8. I was on the Pride a couple years ago. My wife and I were standing on the balcony waiting for sail away and we heard the tones go off for an announcement. The cruise director read a statement that due to the impending hurricane (Sandy) the cruise would be canceled and everyone had to get off the ship. They were nice enough to give us 25% off our next cruise. We were able to book the Destiny leaving the next day. We just had to get from Baltimore to Miami which was an adventure in itself.

  9. On my last cruise I purchased the spa pass for length of the cruise. My wife and I are going on the Dream 11 day in October. Does anyone know what the price of the spa pass will be? I can't find a price online. It doesn't look like there is a set price per day. The only thing I can find online says longer cruises prices vary based on length of cruise. Thanks for any help.

  10. Hello fellow cruisers. My wife and I have just booked the eleven day on Dream in October We have never done a cruise this long. The longest we have done was eight days on the Breeze a couple years ago. What can we expect on the longer cruise? What kind of advice can anyone provide for the longer cruise? Thanks as always for the help and advice.
