  1. We did South Shore Zip Line several years ago as part of an island tour with Victor Bodden. We will be back in Roatan next week:D:D and just want to do the Zip & Dip through South Shore. I see on their website that refunds for cancellations, even for weather, are subject to a 15% handling fee. Doesn't South Shore have a booth near the dock where we can sign up when we get there? Anyone have experience with their booth?

  2. We “upgraded” from a balcony to an extended once on the Legend. We wished we hadn’t because the extended cabin was close to the cabins on the bump out so our view looking aft was blocked. We will be sailing the Miracle in June and made sure to book balconies on the bump out section.

  3. Thanks for the reply NavarreCruiser. On our first cruise, we were told by our cabin steward that self assist were to go to the theater and wait. We did and were off the ship by 8:30. After that we always asked where to go and it was always a lounge, theater, etc. Never had an issue until the Sunshine cruise a few years ago. It wasn't a big deal for us, as we were driving, but there were a lot of upset folks there that missed their flights. We do like to disembark as early as possible out of PC or Tampa since we have a 8.5 hour drive home.

  4. It's been a few years since we cruised. In the past we always did self-assist. Normally it was fast and painless, until our last cruise on the Sunshine. It was a disaster. We were sent to one of the lounges along with those who had early flights. For reasons still unknown, we were not released until well after most of the other passengers and then we were stuck on the stairs in a traffic jam. We didn't get off the ship until after 10:00 am. My questions are: Is this now normal for the self-assist process or did we just get bad instructions? Is it better on the spirit class vs. whatever the Sunshine is? Can anyone tell me where self-assist are normally sent to wait on the Miracle? Thanks!

  5. Can someone give me the low down on booking with NCL? Particularly getting the best price. I am very familiar with CCL & RC's price drop policies. But NCL appears to have only a 48 hour window then you are locked in to that price so I want to get the best deal possible. I am the planner for a 4 family group cruise over our kids spring break.

  6. I have been watching the same Glory and Conquest sailings. Last 2 years we have cruised with 3 other families over spring break. Our kids are all middle & high school age. Last year we were on the Sunshine and EVERY SINGLE ONE OF US voted never again! Beautiful ship with great food and good shows but absolutely no deck space.

  7. I can see for a lot of people that could be dissapointing. 4-5 sea days of overcrowded decks coupled with 'awful' debark at the ports.

Did you notice any crowded areas among the food offerings, and what did you try in the way of the variety of eats? Sunshine has a wide array of food offerings, so I am very curious. How about the shows?

We didn't have any problem with crowding in the buffet areas or any of the other Lido offerings. Honestly there was plenty of room to sit and eat even with our large group and the lines to get food were never long in our experience. We tried all the food options, except for the Cuban snacks which we just never got around to, everything was good to really good. Best pizza and burgers and buffet food of any ship we have been on. Burrito bar was great for lunch and breakfast. Deli, italian, wok and MDR were the same as other ships.

    Shows and comedians all enjoyable.

I don't know why it was always so backed up and unorganized trying to get off the ship. It took us 45 minutes to over an hour past docking time to get off the ship in every port. Well, except for San Juan, we waited to get off almost 2 hours after all clear though. That was very frustrating, not to mention hot and smelly with everyone crammed in the hallways.

  8. We were on the 4.4.15 sailing. This was our 6th cruise, all on different ships. Sunshine did have the best food options of all. The only place it felt crowded was the decks on sea days. If you want a chair get there early. If you want 2 together get out there very early! Also, getting off the ship at ports and home port was awful. Otherwise it's a great ship, plenty of tables in the buffet areas. Never waited more than 20 mins for anytime dining.

  9. I was on the Sunshine 7 day Eastern last week. The ship is nice, food options were great, did not have a problem with lines for food on lido or MDR. We did anytime dining and never waited more than 15 minutes for our group of 15. BUT! There is not enough deck space! We had 2 sea days, the first we gave up trying to find a chair until 3:00. The second we went out at 8:30 and claimed 2. People were everywhere, lying on towels on the decks, saw angry words between passengers who felt their chairs were "stolen", some passengers went and found Carnival staff to remove things from chairs so they could use them.

So, my opinion is, if you like to lie in a lounger on sea days, don't go on the Sunshine. If you are OK with spending sea days in the casino, spa, etc. then you will probably love it.

  10. My group has 4 kids sharing a cabin so we grabbed FTTF for that cabin. The cruise docs show only the first person on the booking to have FTTF. I know that the luggage tags are fine but how will the others prove they have early access to the cabin? Thanks.

  11. I will have to give the beach hotels some love. Our favorite is the Sheraton 4 Points. We enjoy walking on the beach in the evening after a long travel day. Usually we see the cruise ships that left that day offshore all lit up. It's pretty. Our kids like Ron Jon tshirts so it's nice being right next door. I love that Starbucks is in the Sheraton lobby and the hotel bar has good margaritas. There is a McDonald's and Walgreens across the street we have walked to. The Radisson pool is cool, but normally November is too cool for us to use it.

  12. At the straw market I bought toy "walking" turtles. They were made from a thin wood and painted with colorful designs. They had a string you pulled to make them move. IDK where they were made but they were very pretty and I've never seen them anywhere else. My grandsons had fun with them. Can't remember how much I paid but they were cheap $5-$8.
