  1. I'm not sure, but I don't think you get a choice of what dining room you use. I think its based on the location of your cabin on the ship. I'm not sure of the name, but my cabin was forward of the Atrium bar, so I dined in the dining room connected directly to the Atrium and just aft of the bar. The other dining room is aft of this one with a galley in between.

Except for location, I think the layout of the two dining rooms are for the most part identical.

I was at a singles table, but the bench seat with 2 chairs you mentioned was right next to us and I thought they were very nice. I didn't see a traffic problem for them at all. I would think this would be perfect for the three of you. There is a pic of a cruiser I met seated at one of these tables raising a bottle of wine in my WEBSHOTS below.

Others, I'm sure, will have more precise information for you. I hope you have a great cruise. :)

I'm sailing in two days. This my first cruise. I've seen your posts in many places and you've been very helpful to many people.

I'm 51 and sailing single/solo. I'm trying to decide if I want to request being seated with other singles or just be seated at a large and social table of mixed groups. I love social dining but I am not interested in feeling like I have to be a "single" kind of person. I just want to meet who-ever I meet. Old guys. Large families. Herd of teen-age girls. What-ever. LOL.

I guess what I'd be most interested in is finding somebody or somebodys to adopt or to be adopted for some company for shore excursions and dining with people where I'd most likely be exposed to people who would be interested in same. What would be you or anyone's advice for same?

  2. I have a 1A cabin on the 10th level (Panorama) on Splendor. I'm finding this 1A cabins are rare high up. In fact, the 4 close to my cabin are the only ones I've seen. I'm wondering if there is an advantage or disadvantage to this.

I ask too many questions but I've spent my life persuing adventure and this is a completely new adventure for me. Really looking foward to it.

  3. I always book 1As and anytime I can get a cruise for a total price of under $100 a day, I'm a happy camper. Enjoy your cruise.

    Re-visited.

I'm reading about sailing cost and preperations all over the place and after your post it struck me that under $100 a day is a target for many people. If a single cruiser can sail for under $100 a day with our obvious disadvantages then we are doing well. So, this is my formula for future cruises; altough balcony rooms are are really calling my name. Must....resist. LOL.

  4. You folks are great. I do expect that my bottom line is a good one. I'm sailing 7 night with 3 ports/Mexican Riviera out of LA in October. I have a 1A solo cabin. Did I do well for $638? I'm on the 10th level just foward of the Lido pool area and just behind the SPA folks. Seems like a unique 1A location.

When I talked to CheatTickets.com on the phone I told them I was looking at an advertised price of $369 and we did book that cruise but I don't think that cruise was advertised as a 1A room. I was looking at the Carnival site add while talking to CheapTickets on the phone.

I'm not upset about paying the TA fee. This guy talked to me for an hour and turned me on to the 1A thing and made me feal like the 10th level mid ship was a great location.

Cheers all, and thanks for the help!!!

  5. Generally, if you book a solo 1A directly through Carnival, you pay 150% of the base rate (cabin + taxes) plus port charges. Your numbers are broken down differently, so it's hard to tell what you were charged. Also, there is no processing fee when booking directly through Carnival.

Thanks a bunch. At the end of the day, $638 seemed like a reasonable price to pay for one guy in a room and 7 nights at sea. Seem resonable to you?

  6. I've been asking this question for 6 weeks but have never seen an answer. I am traveling solo on the Splendor in a 1A for my first cruise. Here is my invoice for a trip that was marketed for $369 per based on double occupancy. Thanks in advance!

    Your Price: $315.00

    Taxes and Port Charges: $298.29

    Processing Fee: $24.99

    Total Price: $638.28
