  1. Hi boys and girls. Hope you can refresh my memory.  Have been on 2 previous Seabourn cruises and have also sailed on Silversea, Regent, Crystal, etc.  I am now looking at a 14 day Seabourn Encore cruise that has a very large price difference between a Veranda cabin and a Penthouse suite.  So, besides the obvious extra room in the cabin, what will I be missing if I book the Veranda?

  2. For those who followed along.  My question was answered today.  A letter from Regent to my TA offered me a 50% discount on a choice of PH category suites.  I immediately took the offer.  Others I am traveling with did not and I suspect that they are waiting for a better deal...

  3. Hi everyone and thanks...

I just noticed that on my upcoming cruise there was good availability for all PH categories.  All concierge level cabins are listed as waitlist only.  My question.  Will Regent ever offer these PH cabins at a discounted price (or even free) to those who are fully paid but in a lower cabin category?

  4. Hi All and thanks in advance...

Our cruise will be returning on a Sunday to the Port of Miami.  I would like to rent a car and spend a few days in Florida.  Are there are rental car places within the port or do I take a shuffle to the Miami airport.  Or a taxi to ???

  5. Thank you to everyone who read my story and especially to those that gave me advice.  But, to be honest, I think many of you missed my point - which was the lack of compassion that Oceania gives to its' consumers.  All they had to do was communicate.  A simple "we don't know" would have been sufficient - but nothing, not a word.

I guess it doesn't matter now.  I believe that my trip has been cancelled.  Hello Regent!

  6. My tale of woe.  Was interested in the LA to Auckland segments of the 2021-22 atw on the Oceania Insignia.   Tried to book a PH cabin 1.5 years ago - told that they were waitlisted and I was #3 on the list.  Told the only availability was a Veranda gty and took that with the understanding I would get the PH if one became available.  1.5 years and still no notice of anything.  Of course I paid in full - right on schedule.
Now we are 10 weeks out.  Are we going?  Where are we going?  What cabin do I have?  No one seems to know.  No one seems to care.  How can I book return air if Oceania won’t tell us the itinerary?

To make matters worse - the Oceania customer service agents are nasty.  Because I booked with a TA they won’t talk to me - they don’t talk to the TA either.

I know that the industry has had a tough year - but so have we, the consumers.  How about a little consideration for us?

  7. Not spending extra time in NZ for 2 reasons.  First is that we will have been away from home for 6 weeks prior to disembarking the ship.  2nd is that we spent a week in Auckland just 2 years ago.  My wife wants to get off the ship and go home.  BTW - after some back and forth, Oceania finally said that they were comfortable with 11:00am or later departures from AKL.

  8. Hi Boys and girls - thanks in advance for helping... We are taking the Insignia - LA to Auckland segment.  We arrive in Auckland (according to the itinerary) at 8:00 AM - is there enough time to take the American Air 12:15 PM plane back to the U.S. or will we be rushed.  BTW - I asked this question to the Oceania help desk but they won't answer because I didn't book the air through them...

Also, if anyone has the email address for the Oceania president, Robert Binder, I would appreciate it.  I think the executives would be appalled at the "help" that the "helpdesk" does out.

  9. Hi Guys - experienced high end cruiser but this will be my first time on Silversea.  Yes, I know that tipping is included, but I normally tip the butlers who serve us room service.  Is this expected on the Silver Muse?

    Thanks in advance.

  10. Hi Guys - thanks in advance for your help...

Just booked on the Muse - through a travel agent. No air, no ins.

Can I now get a quote from Silversea regarding air or does all communication now have to be done by my T.A.?

  11. Hi guys - thanks in advance for your answers...

We are going on the Star Princess in early January. Am I correct in that there are only 2 optional restaurants (Sabatinis and Crown) aboard? Also, is it possible to make reservations for these restaurants, the chef's table, and the sanctuary prior to boarding?

  12. Of course I will return to this thread....

I want to thank everyone for their kind (and not so kind) responses. KIM, in my question I stated that I could be wrong in my thinking. But truthfully I am appreciative towards the responders. especially those who told me to get over my fear of deck 6.

Few of the responders got my actual point, but for those who did... yes, I should be annoyed with my TA and not with RCL.

I learned that a gty can not have any preconditions - even if a Suite on deck 9 becomes available they won't give it to you. Once they lock you in, that's it.

And lastly, to the one responder who thinks I won't enjoy my trip - you're VERY wrong. Of my 30 over the years all have been fun and wonderful vacations....

  13. About me - mid 60's New Yorker... 30 cruises - everything from ultra luxury to bottom of the barrel... (but only one previous on RCL)

So this time I pick Allure of the Seas. Check with the cruise line and find that there is only one GS available (on deck 6) but I can book a GS guarantee (for less). I check prices with my travel agent. He does offer a better price package, and so I book the guarantee asking him to please tell RCL that I specifically did not want the cabin on deck 6.

Three days later I am assigned the deck 6 cabin - oh well only GS available.

Two weeks go by and I check the RCL website. They are still offering a GS guarantee and the price is significantly lower than when I booked.

Go to the TA. Can I get some relief? A cabin upgrade? A reduction in cost? OBC? Or just a different GS cabin (like I originally requested)? He calls RCL.

I get nothing. They will do nothing for me.

Bottom line is my trip is a month away and I feel that RCL took advantage of me. This is about my 30th cruise. Only my 2nd on RCL. Now we know why.

  14. I also have the same problem (and others) making online reservations. The answer seems to be "email the concierge and have him make them". My question... How do you know who your concierge is and how do you get their email before the cruise begins?
