We. use a USD RBC card, and transfer money to that account ahead of our travels. This lets us time our conversions, and forgoes the extra fees many cards have.

Hmmm Do you earn travel points on that RBC USD account? My points card is RBC and perhaps points could be transferred from a USD RBC account to my other card. I hate not getting travel points for major purchases. I'm going to check it out!

We have a Mastercard that doesn’t have the 2.5 fee and that’s what we use for USD charges. We have had other cruise lines give us the option of having the charges converted, but we always decline as the exchange is not favorable.

These are purchased in CAD so you don’t have to worry about the CC exchange AND right now they are charging $125 for $100 usd, so a bit better exchange than the current 1.30 ish.

Thanks Sun Viking. I like your idea of purchasing onboard credits ahead of time. Scotiabank has a passport visa with no fees for international purchases so I'm also looking at that.

Thank you Deb.  We are going to be there on Oct. 5 on Coral Princess.  We are doing the Antigua on our own and they just provide the transportation.  We will get some Q to bring with us.  The info on the tuc-tucs is helpful.  Will they take you up to the Mirador de la Cruz?  We definitely want to help the locals to not have to convert our dollars.  We have a list of places to see, so we plan on doing a lot of walking around.  Thanks.

Hi Cheryl and Hank, wondering how your walk around Antigua went? Any tips for us? Going in October?
