Let us know about how carefully people are following the Covid protocols.

As far as masks, so far as I've seen, about 99%.  Did see a few during boarding who had them around their chin or just off, but haven't seen anyone since we boarded. Some are wearing flimsy cloth masks, but theyre in the minority, and with the KN95s left in our cabins, hopefully we will see more people using the better ones.

Elevators are not too bad, other than right at boarding time, and when we could go to our cabins at noon.  You might get 7 in an elevator (limit is 6), but most don't push it, and comply if you say "sorry, we're full".

I feel very, very safe on here.  There's plenty of room for distancing from others, crew are constantly cleaning everywhere, and there's good compliance.  100% vaxxed is nice, and knowing we all tested negative is great.  Plus no kids (a few teens, but they are few and far between, and have to be vaxxed too).

Reception have them to have on loan. They also have European style usb plugs. CA

What are European style usb plugs? Aren't usb plugs the same everywhere?  I used my American USB plugs in Paris and London with no problems.

  3. I'm cruising later this month and have port stops that will include Orvieto, Capri, and Petra.  I'm wondering how useful my rollator will be in these ports.  I'm thinking Petra I might do better with 2 walking sticks?  If the cobblestones are very rough, I'm not sure how the rollator wheels would do.  Curb cuts don't matter, as the rollator is very lightweight, and I can lift it up a curb, or even a few steps.

Anyone have any experience that might help me out?

    Thanks in advance!

We took two tours while spending two days (one overnight on a cruise ship).  We used Tours with Locals.

Our tours with "all day" (6-7 hours) but they might do shorter tours as well.

I recall that there was a luxury black cab tour group - pricey, but possibly just what you are looking for.  I found them by

    googling "tour guides in Dublin".

Otherwise,  if you are staying in a large hotel, they can help you make arrangements with companies that do city tours.

However, these are often larger vehicles, sometimes even large buses so might be difficult for mobility issues.

We used a company called LFL in Dublin for several transfers last May/June. Although we did not specifically use them for a tour, we were very pleased with the drivers (and their vehicles) who provided us transport. I do know they offer tour services but have no idea on pricing. Lorraine (in the office) was extremely helpful with our needs so might not hurt to contact them.

Thanks.  Will look into both of these.

  5. We will be in Dublin in May, and have a couple hours between scheduled events.  We'd like to get around and see an overview of the city (I've been there before but my DD and DS have not).  Time is tight, so waiting for the next HOHO bus is out, plus I've got some mobility issues, so I think a taxi would be better.  I've been looking into hiring a taxi for a couple of hours, but can't seem to find one that doesn't do the usual pay-by-the-mile type fare.

Any suggestions of who might do this?  Recommendations from past experience?  We would need to be picked up at the Guinness Storehouse after our tour and returned to the port in time for our afternoon tour.

    Thanks!

Today in the German news is an article about delays at Meyer Werft. Todays hand over of the AIDAnova has been delayed until later this month with the first cruise now Dec 2nd. First cruise should have been today.

Another newspaper talks about delays concerning the Spectrum of the Seas and the Spirit of Discovery too.

    Hopefully just speculation.

The Nova's delay doesn't mean Spectrum will necessarily be delayed.  Right?  RIGHT???

    Fingers crossed...

  7. Hi everyone.

I'm a Lifetime member but not at goal (30+ pounds above goal, actually...:o) All my cruising is definitely NOT helping the situation! I went back on WW last month after my last cruise. Dropped 14 pounds really fast, but since then I've either been plateaued or gaining. Even though I was eating exactly the same, just how I should be, No weight loss. Talk about frustrating!

This past week has been really hard--not nearly enough sleep, and too many "indiscretions" with food. Monday we had a graduation party for my nephew and I ate what I wanted to (which really wasn't bad), and then had TWO pieces of cake! I generally don't eat any sweets when I'm on WW, because it triggers me, but this was from a bakery that I know is fantastic, and I just decided to eat some. So I hop on the scale 2 days later and I'm up FOUR pounds?!? This makes No sense--just from 2 pieces of cake? So now I'm just floundering and eating everything I shouldn't. Heck, if I can't lose when I eat right, why bother? (I know, that's NOT helping...)

I leave for a 7 day cruise in 2 weeks. I decided to eat eggs, fruit and a little oatmeal for breakfast, salad for lunch most days, fruit for snacks, and try to go with fish for dinner as much as I can. I will have ONE drink during cocktail hour (Baileys with milk, thank you very much!), and try not to go too crazy with the goodies there. I am really hoping this will work, since I have 4 more cruises just this year. I would LOVE to be at goal by the end of the year, but at the rate I'm going, I'll be lucky to get there by the end of the decade

  8. The beach areas are nice...I didn't need water shoes...but I saw some wearing them. You can see what's underfoot in the water...it's really clear! Yes, they've cleared lots of room to make more "beach"...and there's more than 1 beach area....the 1st one is the most crowded...so keep walking past that, if crowds aren't your thing! Lots of trees for shade...no worries!

    Thanks!

  9. What are the beaches like? Nice smooth sand, or rocky? Do you need water shoes or can you just walk in without worrying about rocks? Are the beaches deep (from back of beach to water)? Is there plenty of shade?

Never been there, and can't seem to find the answers to these questions on here.

    Thanks

  10. There might be less time in the Hall due to more/bigger blocks being built off site (like the engine block), but I think the overall build is still around 18 months.

And still No word on release date. Assuming it's Fall of 2019, they're kinda late with that info. We booked the Symphony TA in January of 17 for October of 18. If Symphony is going to Hong Kong by December of 19, then you'd think the ride from Europe, through the Suez Canal, and down across to Asia would have to happen by sometime in November at the latest.

Wonder when they'll spill the beans???

  11. Heard a rumor that Capt Johan Malmberg resigned from the company. Does anyone know who currently is master on Rhapsody?

WHAAAAAAAT????? Noooooo!!! He was my favorite of all the captains I've sailed with! I was just this morning trying to calculate the 10 week rotation to see if he would be "on" when I'm on Rhapsody next fall. Please tell me this is only fake news. Please!

  12. Was Abe good as CD?

I suppose on an Oasis Class, you would see the AM and CD less frequently than on a Vision Class.

I did not care for Abe. Sailed with him quite a few times, always the same jokes, same lines, same Quest. He just seemed very plastic to me. He was very much out in the public eye, I just didn't care for his personality. I know others think he is the cats pajamas!

  13. Do you have any Activities Managers that you have sailed with that you feel could be the next one to become CD?

Tino Jackson! Sailed with him on Rhapsody last summer and he was just stellar!! Michele? was CD and was more behind the scenes, so Tino was very much front and center and in the midst of everything. He was fantastic. On Harmony, with Abe Hughes as CD, Tino's talents were wasted, sadly. Wondering where he'll turn up next, and hoping to see him as CD someday soon!

  14. Yes but we hear JD is getting off. [emoji30]

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!:eek::eek: I was SO looking forward to seeing him again! After we had to leave Ovation early and miss our second leg on Radiance in February, we were so sorry not to get back to JD. We were somewhat mollified by the thought that we'd see him again on the Hawaii run. I am now totally bummed.

Well, at least we'll have Captain Trym. LOVED him too.
