  1. Thank you all for your replies.

CCWineLover, I appreciate you making me aware of my mistakes on year of cruise and my use of dates.

DrKoob I will wait it out and let them cancel  and travel insurance information, thank you!

pacruise804, I used September as my don't worry things are looking up, think about packing...

NanciEA, thank you for the information on the travel insurance.

May you all be well and enjoy your day!

  2. When we booked 01.02.2020 this seemed like a nice way to get onboard with Viking.

We can cancel last minute if we are unconformable for any reason.

Would you wait it out to see if it happens or book for March 2020 same cruise.

We will lose our trip insurance (3rd party) $600.

I'm hoping things settle down by September.

    Any thoughts?

    Thank you!

  3. We booked Orca Cruise from 12-4PM departure day. I spoke with them; there would be no issue getting to ship on time.

Now the hard part would you cancel Orca trip to get on board ASAP since cruise price dropped, upgraded to suite guarantee. We are in Sky Suite – S1!

    Thank you for your thoughts...

  4. We are doing a week before we leave from Seward. Renting an SUV.

Purchased the Milepost on amazon 2014 edition. It was a great help mapping out our drive.

Trip Advisor had wonderful advice also.

Since we are leaving 6/2 we are not going into Denali.

I really wanted to take the Alaska Marine Highway from Whittaker to Valdez but they posted the schedule for 2017 too late.

I spoke to people that work the places we are booked - everyone had helpful ideas. I asked if I was a family member where would you take me...we like to do less crowded touristy things.

Our plan- because of the milepost and trip advisor we have options of where we can stop along the way.

I booked 9 months early for everything so we don't have much wiggle room to change reservations - prices went up!

Anchorage 3 days (flight changed we come early AM not late night or it would be 2 nights)

Valdez - 2 nights - Stan Stevens Whale Watch

Denali via Denali highway part gravel road views of Mt Denali most of the trip. 1 night Alpine Creek Lodge

Talkeetna 1 night Denali Overlook Inn

Anchorage 1 night train to Seward.

    Enjoy your adventure!

  5. Check trip advisor - some great advice from people that live there or have done land travel. Also get The Milepost on Amazon. I purchased a used one 2014. The maps really help you figure out how to plan your trip. Also did a search on here for DIY Land found some useful information. Good luck!

  6. Hi Fiveone, we have provisional plans in Vancouver to visit Capilano, Grouse Mountain, Granville Island, Stanley Park and a few breweries. I did think about visiting Vancouver Island for a couple of nights as well, before we head out to Alberta.

Thank you for your suggestions. I've been focused on Alaska. Hope you have a wonderful trip!

  7. Sorry not been on since I posted question.

    1. I am looking for ideas for 7 days before we leave Seaward on the cruise (already booked with Celebrity).

    2. I was looking into doing a land based tour on our own but the driving would be a drain. It would be nice to sit back and both of us watch.

    3. I found a tour/cruise with what I am looking for but you can't book just land. It started in Anchorage taking in several towns ending in Valdez with a boat tour of Dutch Harbor to Whittier, bus back to Anchorage.

    4. My husband sailed oil tankers for years from CA to Valdez. I would be able to see the area from the same perspective when he sailed into the port.

    5. I know I have a lot of research to do but it seemed easier planning Panama Canal cruise...Alaska is big and spread out that's for sure!

Once again I thank you all for your time!

  8. Alaska Southbound June 2017 - I've been booking our port excursions from the Caribbean to Panama instead of using the cruise line. CC has been a great source of information! Is there anything I should take into consideration for Alaska? I see the add on packages from Celebrity and they look nice but prefer smaller groups. Suggestions and advice welcome! Thank you for your time. Also first time on Celebrity - used Royal the last 6 and NCL for 2.

  9. This was rated high on Trip Advisor. It looked like a great tour but my friends wanted to go with the bus. I did email with the owner and she offered several options for what areas we could tour. Passing this on in case someone else would like to do something a little different in Boston!

  10. I posted this on another thread about things to do in Cozumel - :DThis was our 3rd time on a Western Caribbean cruise same ports. I was looking for something to surprise my husband - renting a Harley did the trick! Eagle Riders Cozumel - Adrian was the best tour guide - we were the only bike so that made it special. He was caring, made sure we were comfortable and off we went. Stopped at a small tequila factory, several small villages and a place for lunch (great food don't remember the name). Everything was included in the rental. If you ride a motorcycle and stop at Cozumel check it out and DO IT! Adrian also took some of the best photos we've had while riding - great to look back and see the smile on my husband...Hands down the best tour if you know how to ride a motorcycle. When we got back to the ship there were several people wishing they knew about the rental/tour but they were stuck with a ship tour. We hope to be back and do it again – if you have any questions ask or check out the site for Eagle Riders Cozumel.:D

  12. We found the ship to be well cared for - older yes but very nice. We usually sail Voyager class, but found Legend perfect for the Panama Canal.

    1) How is the food? Are real eggs used? Enjoyed eating at the Solarium for lunch. Did not find the food selection to be poor quality but I have not sailed on Princess to compare.

    2) Are there ship problems like malfunctioning toilets, leaks, stains, broken parts? I was concerned about the issues you mentioned but never heard of any while on board.

    4) Will there be a lot of ship activities offered daily like on other cruises? Yes!

  13. We just did this itinerary. March 3-13.

I'd recommend Bernard's Tours (we did #2) in St. Maarten.

We traveled the outer edge of the island. Nice!

    Only$45.00/pp. Lasted about 6 hrs.

We also used them for a tour with our family of 5 and it was wonderful. Worth the money, the guide was great and keep everything interesting for 21 up to 60 year old. Don't miss the airport that was the highlight watching the planes fly in right over head.

  14. Several years ago we booked Peet for a private family tour - 2 adults - three mid teen boys. He was wonderful - did Dunn Falls, took us on local tour - sons still talk about him and how nice he was. Don't know about the other place. Good luck

  15. We just got off Legend - booked our times online but they were not the same each evening but changed to 7 each night - seemed to work as we were between the two main dining times. We also requested the same table after the first night and it all worked out extremely well. So well we did not do Windjammer for any dinners! Enjoy your cruise!
