We did SFO to Dubai, very nice with a freebie hotel layover close to airport then direct into CPT. Great service!

Lighten up please...

Outlet present at bedside. No need for extension or adapter. If need arises they have had an extension cord on other Regent vessels...

We stayed at the Parco de Principi in the Embassy district. LOVED IT

Another vote for Le Perouse. Close to Old Town, across from the beach. Everything walkable from there, Highly recommend.

Our favorite for sure. Have done several. Love sea days, lounging, sleeping, reading, doing nothing at all. Just watching the world pass by interrupted only by fine food, spa, and of course Varsity level Trivia!! By far the best way to travel....East to west, preferable because on top of all of the above, you actually gain an hour every so often in that direction as opposed to losing. Have never ever been bored, always find a good read, a lecture or a game....Highly recommended!

To date, we have been exclusively Regent cruisers, (with a try on Gaugin, and O Riviera), and have loved it all! Explorer concierge/F 1 and 2 cabins IMHO are truly outstanding. Gold perks have thus far, kept us in the Regent fold.....In refererence to Bill's question above, we have however considered Viking as an alternative, as they have seemingly worked out some of the initial start-up glitches.......if we were to "stray" Viking seems like the closest fit/interest.

Another vote for Emirates....to Dubai, rest/layover, then on to CPT. Superior service!

In our view, by far, Explorer has been the best ship which we have sailed for the reasons you stated. Had an F1, which was spacious, food and facilities top notch. There was really nothing NOT to like. Our next cruise will be on Voyager, our former fav., which we are choosing based on itinerary only......

We have stayed twice at LePerouse, (a Best Western property) very close to Old Town, train station, and is on the water. Very reasonably priced. Highly recommend this gem! Everything walkable, a huge plus in Nice where traffic is crazy!

Good to hear all of this! We just booked a G in #649 for an upcoming cruise on Voyager....No science or plan, just plain serendipity!;);)

Was there last month, on another cruise. A very pleasant surprise, expecting an industrial naval base, instead found a very clean friendly and safe place, not to mention scenic. We took an excursion to the smaller port side, walkable and nice, and an excursion to the countryside of Provence for wine, olives, and nougat on a hilltop castle-like place...Enjoy tender or not!

No reservations were necessary. Very comfortable two top available on opening, and later. Menu was a special lunch menu particular to the venue, supplemented with daily specials. For example at P7, one day I had an ENORMOUS plate of bbq ribs on special, the other I ate appetizers only chicken quesadilla, soup, a huge crab salad. Really good!

We too are just off Explorers maiden TA. Although the Pool Grill and La Veranda were great for lunch, the luncheon food/service at BOTH Prime 7 and Chartreause was outstanding...perhaps even better than dinner at those venues!! Unhurried, uncrowded, and elegant even while casually attired for the time of day. A set menu together with daily specials made these two venues our first choice for a quiet proper luncheon as opposed to our occasional "grazing" elsewhere!

Hi there TC! His first name is Ville. He is a second officer from Helsinki. Great guy, converses with my wife (also a native Finn, aka DW of Two Happy Cruisers) in that incomprehensible language of theirs!! She was just home in Finland last week and they visited while he was in port. He aspires to be a Captain with Regent, and is now in his second or third contract. He drives the ship in the wee hours...

And there is a Finnish gentleman, a friend of ours as a matter of fact in training and hoping to one day move up to that role, currently on Voyager!

As indicated we are in a Superior F1 Guarantee, and based on all that we have heard and seen we will be quite content with that choice. Very good to hear at least some positive points regarding actually living in, as opposed to viewing the PH layout, should that option come to pass...Still hoping for that call for the Upgrade to the Seven Seas Suite....::p

OK grasshoppers, been following this thread and another related thread with interest...we are in an F1 Guarantee, on the 11/16 Explorer Rome/MIA TA. Like TravelCat we like/prefer the F1 for the reasons discussed. Don't like the layout of the PH. What do you all think of an UPGRADE to a PH?? Would you decline? We are NOT interested in an UPSELL, unless other than a PH and attractively priced....such problems....

Ours came today...we are an R, and Gold. Really liked it, and hope Regent continues doing it. Staff profiles are a hit! More please! Alas, how ever, we too had the wrong TA listed as a contact...
-
Been there. Done that. For us, smooth as glass...almost surprisingly so!

Like Rachel, we have many fond memories of Nice and Istanbul....Of course the issue deserves discussion and attentiveness. Very sad and scary times...But as in all things in our lives, we like to live fully and enjoy, or said another way.... "we choose to dance while we can"!!! So on we go, eyes open, hopeful for a safe trip.

Been there, done that Regent+1
-
Go for it!! Well worth it for the room, butler, even having dinner served course by course in your room. The Exec. Lounge, useless in my view...comfortable place to read/snack, there are plenty of places for that!

FYI.....We are on the Explorer TA in Nov. 2016. Paid for business upgrade at $1299 pp, and deviated. Requested Swiss non-stop SFO-Zurich, with two hour layover, and then on to Rome also on Swiss. Request granted within minutes w no haggle or supplemental upcharge. Very nice!

Every day at sea is a great day!! Capetown to Rio was a particularly good cruise for the outstanding pre, and post cruise activities provided. Great memories...
