  1. These all sound like awesome experiences. We’re on Enchanted in June and want to try this.

Can someone give more details on the menu choices. I see reference to filet and lobster. But what about app choices, salads, soups, etc. DW tends to be a picky eater and I’m curious what is included and what might be substituted.

    Thanks!

Also - good morning. Having our first sea day today. Weather is perfect so far but supposed to turn pretty rough this afternoon.

Here’s today’s patter.  There is way more entertainment on this ship than my last cruise. Pretty impressed so far as I generally find that to be the weak link on Princess.

Also, DuVal is a FANTASTIC cruise director. The best one I have ever had on Princess and the second best I have had at sea across all lines. He is hilarious!

Agree. DuVal is a funny guy. We had him last year on Discovery. Do you know how long he is on Enchanted?

  3. I would consider them a "House Band" and not a cover band.  I suspect they move from venue to venue and play whatever the situation dictates.

We sailed Oasis in 2022 for a B2B and were fortunate to have a Styx (Wk 1) and Aerosmith (Wk 2) cover band in "The Music Hall" venue.  That was an entertaining cover band experience.

  4. This is a new one on me.  Guess every cruise line has it's "uniquenesses".

Was shopping on-line this weekend to take advantage of the Memorial Day sales.  Found some good savings on shore excursions for our January 29, 2024 Panama Canal on the Beyond.

With all the positive reviews of the Beyond dining, I wanted to book a dining package.  Early in the weekend I noticed the 3 nt package for $114 p/p.  Saved it in my cart while I spent more time researching shore excursions.

Returned to my cart later in the weekend to find the 3 nt. gone from my cart.  Went to the dining package website to find it was gone there too.  Licking my wounds, I saw the 4 nt package for $138.  Thought that was a good deal and figured it's an 11 night cruise, why not do 4 nights in specialty!

Tried to book the 4 nt package, when I clicked myself, all was good.  When I clicked my wife, error!!!  A cute little message popped up that said "Sorry, we're stuffed.  No longer taking reservations."

Proceeded to call customer service and try to book on-line (40 minute wait).  Very nice gentlemen proceeded to tell me he did not see the 4 nt package on his computer.  Mind you, I was on my iPad looking at the screen that clearly showed 4 nts.  After several minutes on hold while the agent consulted his manager, he returned to tell me that the dining packages have limited availability and the 4 nt could NOT include my wife.  Apparently only room for one more passenger.

Has anyone come across this before?

Is this a clever way to bait & switch and upsell to a longer night dining package?

Very disappointed with how Celebrity customer service handled this.  As if one more person was going to break the kitchen, crash the reservation system, etc...???

We sail April 14th and it has been showing for us for a week now.

    Interesting.

We got our “Welcome Aboard” Email today. It refers to “…use the Journey View to learn more about activities and shows….”

Maybe it will go live in the next day or two.

  6. ***Final Post From The OP On This Topic***

It appears the menus HAVE been changed to the "one page" format.  Recent feedback on FB postings show one page, no more Alfredo offerings slimmed down selections and "Gala Night" was the only time I saw "Princess Favorites" listed on the menu.

Based on some of the offerings, I hope the favorites are available every night if requested.

    Happy sailing!

Different levels of formality…...hmmmmm…..sounds as though the stuffed-shirt elitists will finally have their very own venue within which they can all focus on out preening one another.

All the while we folks who are not cursed with  such amour propre are allowed to go about being just normal folks.

    Sounds like a win-win to me!!😃

Nor does it define what formality means.  I am sure whatever is suggested will not be enforced so nothing new or to get excited about.

For many casual is not the opposite of formal but the opposite of confined.  To many people, especially Americans, clothes are freedom to represent how we choose to present ourselves to the world.  People do not wear their social class on their sleeves like they did in the early years of cruising.  The world has steadily gone more casual and Princess is sailing upstream if it thinks it can change that and not change with the times.

I’m continually amazed how lathered up people get when this subject gets posted.  Based on some of the responses, maybe this group is in need of some DE&I training 😉.

There’s already plenty of “class segregation” happening on modern cruise ships. Suite status, Club Class Dining, separate elevators for suite guests , special seating at shows, and the list goes on. Granted, people buy into this, so perhaps they are entitled to the perks. We don’t begrudge. We have our own good time.

If the formal dressers want to be surrounded by like minded people in that ambiance, so be it. Same goes for the causal dressers. If others want to co-mingle (without name calling and staring) even better.

I don’t see this as Princess sailing upstream and trying to stop change, I think it is trying to give people an option.

Both sides of this “debate” have the right to do what they please.

All that said, someone please pass the Grey Puepon!

  8. Flights are ORD to LAX.  Readily available in both directions. Lots to choose from with plenty of seat selection.  In fact, after I rebooked the same flight for less, I went back in and changed seats back to what we had.

After each change, the seats appear in my Princess reservation and my AA app.

Should I be concerned that those seats will disappear or change once we get closer to sail date?  When do these become “ticketed”?

  9. We booked our air with EZ Air.  I was fortunate to find a price drop on my airfare and rebooked with EZ Air. This occurred after final payment, but within the 45 day window allowed with EZ Air.
I can see the credit amount on my Payment screen, but how do I collect it?  Or does it become OBC?

    Thanks for your help!

  10. We're sailing on Discovery Princess April 15th.  We managed to avoid Easter, but landed right on top of the Long Beach GP.  This resulted in hotel challenges near the port.  Availability and pricing were through the roof!

We ended up in Sunset Beach.  Nice little place by the water, but now I notice that we'll have to navigate through/around the GP area.

Other than leaving for the ship earlier than usual, any thoughts/suggestions on avoiding that mess?  Or just leave it to the Uber driver? 🙂

  11. There has been much conversation about menus changing across the fleet. Seems to be happening slowly, ship-by-ship, I'm looking for feedback from RECENT Discovery cruisers on if the menus have changed yet.

We're sailing in April, so I expect something to happen between now and then.

    Appreciate any insight, thanks!
  12. Sounds good.

Should have known "negotiation" was part of the plan 🙂

Either way, there has to be a constant parade of boats going back and forth all day.  No need to swim back!!!  😁

Thank you Padre and Mike45.  Lots of good info from you two on the Mexican Riviera thread.
