  1. I think it has a lot to do with the drink packages [emoji482][emoji483]🥂[emoji898]

Nope. I was on that same cruise with 26 family and friends who all had the drink package. Somehow we managed to get in zero fights.

    It's the person.

  2. Curious....was it an NCL tour or private?

    Private tour.

Short story...it was a jet ski tour and there were a few from the group that couldn't keep up. We had plenty of time for the tour, but when we got near the dock, the seas were rough and they had trouble getting their jet skis parked. Unfortunately, that took the attention of the guides who also had our belongings locked in a case so we had to wait for them.

All aboard was 2:30 and we got on at 2:37.

  3. Looking for the dailies for the 7-day Bermuda sailing on the Escape. Hoping to nail down a good dinner time for a large party so we don't miss shows, activities, etc. We like to eat the same time each night with the same wait staff so we want to book a recurring reservation. Thanks!

  4. Hi all,

I just wondered whether it's normally acceptable to wear Brazillian biniki bottoms around the pool?

I know this is more a European thing so if it's likely to offend people then I'll buy some normal bottoms.

Obviously if I go anywhere away from the pool (even walking to a bar) I always cover up so it's not like I'll be walking around the ship with my booty out.

I couldn't really see a forum for attire so thought I'd ask.

    Thanks.

If you are OK with people looking, they're OK with you wearing.

  5. Collecting Coke, we in the Haven on the Escape in room 18712 in about a week. Do you have any pictures of the room you can share? Any thoughts regarding the room? Did you hear any moving of deck chairs from the 19 sun deck at night? Thanks!

Resurrecting this thread looking for input on 18712. Anyone? Most interested in potential noise from Vibe above.

  6. This HANDS DOWN wins my vote for the absolutely most random, but EXTREMELY SPECIFIC, question I've ever seen in more than a dozen years on this forum.

I've seen a lot of weird questions, but never something this specific nor obscure.

We should hold a contest. This is my entry:

Could someone please tell me what the general response is if someone on Day 3, before 10am on my cruise hands me a ten-dollar bill from 1987 SERIES D with one corner slightly torn and what may appear to be a water stain just to the bottom of the signature?

I believe the correct response is "mashed-potato-filled argyle socks"?

  7. Just got off of Oasis, and booked onboard for next July. We needed to make an adjustment to a December cruise, and since the Next Cruise desk couldn't do that for us we booked the refundable deposit version. Once we got home and were able to make the December adjustment we wanted, the C&A rep changed our July cruise from refundable to non-refundable. The price dropped by almost $400, and the Onboard Booking Bonus went from $76 to $100.

FWIW, the rules on the non-refundable option (quoting directly from the paperwork we were given on Saturday) are that you have 30 days to "make a change to the ship or date" without penalty. After 30 days any change will incur a $100/PP service fee, but in either case the booking remains non-refundable. If you cancel a non-refundable cruise, RCL will only offer a Future Cruise Credit (expires in 12 months from the date it is issued) for an amount equal to the non-refundable deposit less a $100/PP service fee.

Your "FWIW" was helpful. I'm not sure they understand this. Based on how you laid this out, if they changed today, they would only have 12 months to book another. So, if they really want to book Symphony for August 2019, they should sit on their current reservation (which is for August 2018) until the last possible minute? Of course, then final payments are made, etc. Of course, I don't know what their deposit was so I don't know what is non-refundable.

I'm confused. I think I'll let them deal with it!

  8. I don't get this. You have 30 days to cancel w/o penalty. You cancelled within 30 days. Why do you need to give them a reason? Just say you changed your mind...

I think it's 30 days to change to another booking without penalty.

Full disclosure, I did not book this cruise. I was asking for a friend so I don't know all the particulars. They just thought it was odd that they want to keep a booking and it's not their fault the Symphony booking isn't open.

In talking to them, I can tell you they are going to eat $400 on this booking and go to NCL next year instead.

Based on my experience with both the RCCL website and customer service, I can see the need for a $100 change fee. The certainly want to discourage anyone from doing anything that requires assistance. For gods sake the poor hamster that runs the website would have to work overtime to accommodate these changes.

  9. I'll make it easy.

    • Booked onboard
    • 30 days to cancel without penalty
    • Returned from cruise and talked to family and friends who want to sail Symphony instead of the ship we booked
    • Called Royal to change and they want to charge $100 because Symphony does not open to book until January (and

What do you mean by not open to book. We booked the OCT. 2018 transatlantic on Symphony about 6 months ago.. As of today Sep. 2019 is open for booking

Looking to book August 2019. No go on their website.

  10. I'll make it easy.

    • Booked onboard
    • 30 days to cancel without penalty
    • Returned from cruise and talked to family and friends who want to sail Symphony instead of the ship we booked
    • Called Royal to change and they want to charge $100 because Symphony does not open to book until January (and that change would be outside 30 days)

    Fair or foul?

  11. Hey all- Our 1st family vaca is in 2.5 weeks on the Oasis. It is the 1st time our daughter is going on a cruise. Anyone have any tips/tricks or things to do/avoid? We are currently on deck 8, Large Int stateroom. Hopefully the upsell fairy calls us with a good offer but if not, we are totally ok where we are. Our room has the pullout, vs pullman. Let me know what has worked/hasn't worked for your family! Thanks!

Your house is more child-proof than you realize. Your cabin will have lots of things in reach of the Little One that usually are not in reach at home. Just be aware.

Other than that, enjoy! We cruised once with our daughter still "in-belly" and then have been cruising with her since she was a year-and-a-half.

  12. My family of 14 is going on a cruise for my grandparents 55th wedding anniversary and my grandfathers 80th birthday. My question is does carnival make accommodations for a large party like this, or are we going to have to be split?

Recently off a late-July Pride sailing where we had a 14-top. We were clear all reservations were linked when booked. We didn't contact the Maitre D at all.

  13. The gym is broken into two sides on either side of the hallway that goes to the spa. The right side contains the cardio "stuff" and the left side contains the resistance "stuff".

My training is all endurance right now so I spent my time on the cardio side where there are maybe 15 treadmills, 10 ellipticals, 5 bikes, a few recumbent bikes, and a couple of rowing machines. Might be other stuff but I wasn't looking that closely.

I did go to the resistance side to do some push-ups and core work. While there, I saw dumbbells and resistance machines but can't speak with specificity. I suspect it would be all the usual stuff.

I found the equipment to be in great shape. The only knock I have is there wasn't much of an area to lay down a mat and stretch or do floor work. On other ships, they always had a dance studio-type area. BA has that but that's where the spin bikes and TRX stuff was and it was always closed. The only area I found was in the back of the resistance side where there was a spot maybe 2-3 people could put down a mat.

Still, I'd rather have the equipment in great condition. Nothing more frustrating than running on a busted treadmill that says you are running a sub-5 minute pace when you know you aren't a step under 7 minutes!

I'll be back to the other thread tonight/tomorrow. I'm still catching up on sleep!

  14. Just off the Breakaway, and yes, both the treadmills and the bikes have TVs with headphone jacks.

Since you posted you like to go for 45-60 minutes, be aware the treadmill will automatically shut off at 30 minutes. The idea is during busy times, they'd like you to limit your session to 30 minutes.

I like to go around 5PM when everyone else is prepping for dinner so there wasn't a line waiting to use the equipment and I would just restart. But, it is annoying when you are in a rhythm.
