  1. We have done 4 day cruises out of Nola in December and the weather warms up as you sail South. One year we were wearing jackets on embarkation day and in bathing suits the next day. I find the pools to be a little chilly even in the summer. Once you get in the water, you get used to it.

    Thanks for the info

  2. I've only been on one cruise with another coming in December, but I start getting excited once it's booked, I keep the excitement going by making the reservations for parking, room for the night before, etc. Then I start gathering up the things we want to take in one spot (the things we don't have to use at home) and I don't know if it's weird or not but I usually start my actual packing a few weeks (or maybe a month or so). You know rearranging things to see the best way to pack my stuff. I also keep the momentum rolling by checking out pages on here and other cruise sites. With all this going on I can keep the excitement going for months and months!

  3. My wife and I will be on this sailing. It's our 2nd cruise. The first cruise we took, they had a FOD meeting and we went and sat but were to shy to talk to the other guys who showed up (not sure if they were there for that reason) and then we left. I'm hoping to meet some of you in here so we will already know some people.:)

  4. Galveston has some things to do before you have to check in. Drive around and explore our little island. While it's not Mexico for sure, why not spend a few hours at the pyrmaids, the Schlietterrbaun waterpark, or shopping on The Strand?

My family and I love to ride the ferry when in Galveston, get some bread or crackers, etc to feed the seagulls on the "back" (it changes depending which direction). Best of all it's free!

  5. I think I saw that your cruise on the Triumph was in January. We're booked for this December. I was wondering if the pools are too cold to swim in and the one that can be covered by the retractable roof, first was it covered and was it warm. Basically was it too cold for any outdoor activities? I know that's a tricky question since it is Texas and the weather is crazy here but any info would be greatly appreciated

  6. We are taking our first cruise in October and I was wondering...I've seen a lot of people saying that if you don't like your dining companions you can change them but do you always have dining companions? I thought I read somewhere that some dining (we have the anytime dining) can be just the two of us...it's not that we are anti social but it seems like if we are showing up whenever we want that it would be bothersome to have to wait on a table opening and then wait for it to fill up in order to order...Anyone know about this...Oh yeah, we're on Carnival Conquest...

BTW...love all these posts...I knew nothing about cruising except that I wanted to go before I got on this forum and now my wife jokes that Im a cruise expert even though we haven't gone on our first one yet...
