We were on the Silversea Explorer for their February 20th sailing. Drake Passage was pretty rough the first day and we were glad we booked lower deck (3) and center of the ship. We talked to some people who were higher up and near the bow and they were quite seasick. Drake can deliver very high seas and best to expect it not to be a smooth crossing. Fantastic trip.

Oh, a hint. Take more than one pair of gloves. Mine got wet on the inflatable raft or the kayak and you need gloves to stay warm (even in August).

Hi Shazzah. We were on the Safari Quest last August and it was fabulous. It was a 7-day Juneau to Juneau trip and we never saw a town once we left Juneau. The food was fantastic and we were treated so well by the staff. On our boat we were allowed free access to the pilot house and I hope you will be too. We saw a lot of the big ships as we made our trip and I felt so sorry for them. When something interesting happened (whales, bear, seals, etc.) they would stop and let us watch what was unfolding. The big guys just kept going. I wish I were going with you.

We were part of a Univ of Michigan group on the Safari Quest a few years ago and it was a memorable experience. I recommend it highly. We have not done a Lindblad cruise but a couple on our boat had and they thought the Safari experience was better.
