  1. It makes sense if you read it to mean they sold a lot of them which is what I understood it to mean.

Yes, you are correct. Tons of FTTF sold = big money for Carnival. Nothing to do with delays other than you notice all the people that have it.

But, they did call Diamonds first, then Platifnum, then FTTF even though we were all mixed together. They did a good job enforcing standards.

  2. FTTF doesn't have access to the priority lounge, only platinum and diamond. Sounds like you have a lot on your sailing.

FTTF waits in the general boarding area but boards right after platinum, diamond and suite passengers

That's what I thought, but I'm sitting in the "overflow" right now surrounded by golds and a couple reds with FTTF stamps.

  3. Dream boarding is delayed until at least 12:30 due to gangway issues. There are so many folks with "Priority" boarding passes the Captains Lounge has overflowed and the people just keep pouring in. Looks like they've made a bunch of cash with the Faster 2 the Fun on this one.

  4. We stayed in a Spa level Suite on Sunshine in June 2015. Loved our room location to Spa area, front of ship and adult pool/bar. We could easily access Spa including classes, steam, sauna, treatments and relaxation room. Going again in May 2017 on the Dream and selected a Spa level balcony room. Can't wait!

We have been in Spa Rooms on the Dream 4 times now (the 5th is booked for next week) you will love the Cloud 9 Spa on the Dream. We were in a Spa Room on the Sunshine a couple years ago and will not do it again. The so-called Cloud 9 Spa on the Sunshine doesn't even compare to the Dream. We also had issues with the Cloud 9 Team on the Sunshine, I saw two reviews from the same sailing and they had the same issues. So I'll say it again, you will LOVE the Cloud 9 Spa on the Dream.

    Cheers and Happy Cruising!

  5. I have the fun times for our 8 day Southern itinerary that I will be scanning. If anyone wants them I'd be happy to email them to you.

I think you're doing a fine job on the review. Who cares about the format as long as you're taking the time and effort out of your busy day to put it out there for us. Thank you and happy sailings in the future!

And if you get the chance I too would love to see the funtimes (wclaytor@cox.net). We sail her on an 8 day trip in December.

  6. I'm sorry Waynbo...I couldn't find this thread again and..well...I couldn't find it.

    1. It wasn't bad to me' date=' but when I'm sleepy, I go to sleep. The noise level was really noticeable when the doors leading to the deck were open.

    2. It was noticeable a smidgen. I felt some movement maybe 2 days...and that wasn't consecutive days.

    3. That person may have had a cabin on a different deck. I had the king setup and could walk on both sides of my bed with no problems. My room was big...not suite big, but large enough for me.

    4. Unfortunately, I can not; I never used them.

Thank you, thank you, and thank you! I really appreciate the information. Glad the noise isn't too bad, even so, my wife could sleep through just about anything so I'm sure it'll be fine. Looking forward to reading your review!

    Cheers! Wayne

  7. Forgot to state I stayed in a spa interior cabin. 10128

Those are the rooms we are looking at for our December trip on the Sunshine. I'm calling my PVP tomorrow to book and I'd love to hear a little more about your location. Can you answer some quick questions for me?

    1. How was the noise level? The open deck above and the big screen outside

    the room concern me.

    2. Was the ships movement noticeable? We've been in spa rooms on the Dream a couple times and it wasn't too bad but still a lot of movement. We've been in a porthole room on the Elation and will never do the front of a small

    boat again.

    3. I saw youtube video of an inside room with the beds together as a king

and there was NO room to move around, is it really that bad?

    4. Tell me about the Cloud 9 spa saunas/steam rooms, please.

    Thanks!

  8. We just got off the Triumph Monday, and was told one bag per cabin. I think because of supply but was offered a tumbler as the second gift which I was ok with. Had to go to Guest Services for another reason, told them did not get other gift that night another bag in cabin, cabin steward said no tumblers on ship. Nice bag.

We were told the same "one gift per cabin" line by our cabin steward on the second leg of our B2B when he dropped off one tervis tumbler, even though they gave us 2 (tote/photo album) on the first leg. When we got back to the cabin he had found another tumbler for us.

  9. Since our upcoming cruise is our Platinum cruise we will be happy with whatever they give us. DH is hoping for the hat and I am hoping for the Tervis Tumbler.

We are doing a B2B, will they give us the same gift both weeks?

On our Halloween B2B on the Elation we got a Tote bag (not the new one) and a photo album on the first leg and Tervis Tumblers on the second. I would have been happy with whatever we got but I am glad they switched it up.

  10. I agree with the previous posters, the real party is up on Lido. There's also a balloon drop in the atrium (at least there was on our two New Years cruises) that is a lot of fun for everyone.

But there is one point I want to bring up, if you are mature enough to have a 17 year old daughter you will probably not enjoy the music in the "disco" anyways. My wife and I love all kinds of music and one of our favorite places to spend time on a boat has always been the "disco" but things are changing fast. They do a wonderful 10pm - 11pm theme hour (Country, 70's, Michael Jackson, etc) and there is usually a bunch of folks dancing during that hour, but at straight up 11pm they start with very hard core rap/R&B. The DJ actually clears the floor with their musical selections.

On our recent Elation trip we met up with some friends there just to try to enjoy a little dancing, stayed for 1 1/5 hours sitting there hoping they would play something "dance-able" (yes, we were determined to dance) but no... actually there were five 20-ish guys "dancing" (okay standing around) on the dance floor the entire time. Not menacing or anything, just standing and bobbing their heads occasionally doing a little dance. No one else got on the floor the entire time. People were walking in, taking a look/listen then turning around and leaving.

The DJ's are worse now than they have ever been. DW and I love to dance, but (at least in the dance clubs) the DJ's are catering to the 18-20 year olds and not the passengers that actually pay for these kids to be there. Just my 2 cents.

    Cheers!

  11. Hmmm... To all those who've said their cruise docs say Platinum on the 1st leg of their B2B, have you got any advice for me? Or any mojo to share? :D I've called Carnival 3X in the past few days, inquiring how to get this, and -- shocking! -- all 3X I got the same answer! No, no, no. It's absolutely not done. You won't be Platinum until you board the 10th cruise.

Well, gee, we're technically not boarding the 10th cruise, because we'll already be on board from our 8th and 9th. We're going on a 3-leg B2B2B, with two 5-day cruises and one 4-day, for a total of 14 days on the Victory. It sure would be nice to have that priority boarding status on the first leg, since we won't need it on the final leg.

    Any thoughts? Ideas? Strategies?

It's not the end of the world, or the most important aspect of my cruise, but it would be nice. :D

I didn't do anything special. My PVP linked my bookings and they just showed up as priority. Do you have a PVP? This is one of the reasons I do have one, mine works hard to keep me coming back and just made Platinum with a B2B the same time I was doing mine (different ships though). So I guess my only strategy would be to get a good PVP.

Sorry, I know that's not much help but it's the best I can do.

  12. We've got a B2B coming up at the end of this month for our 9th and 10th cruise and our Cruise Docs say PLATINUM / PRIORITY on both legs. I wasn't planning on the perks until the second leg, but if we get them on the first yea us! :D

Just to follow up, we did get platinum status on both legs of our B2B (9th & 10th cruises) all perks included! And just to let you know, right now the Elation has the best crew I have ever sailed with. We had a blast!

  13. Just got our (DW & I) Platinum gifts delivered, night one. A tote bag and a photo album. Better than 2 hats, I guess.

For part 2 of the second leg we got tumblers. Talked to a couple other Platinum guests no one got a hat, no one else that I talked to got tumblers. I guess guest services actually put a little thought into it and didn't give us the same gifts twice.

Very happy with the entire Elation staff during the last 10 days, they were all top notch.

  14. Just started 2nd leg of B2B on the Elation, we also got a small tote (not like the one JH showed) and a photo album, as someone stated earlier in the thread. Hope they change it up for part 2, but if they don't it's still a free gift!

  15. last time we did b2b we did NOT have to get off of ship. each port does it different

On the Fascination in April we did not have to get off the boat. We met one of the ships pursers at 10 am at the atrium bar and she took our customs forms left and came back 10 minutes later and said we were good to go. We had to get our new S&S cards from guest services. One note; when we tried to use our new S&S cards they didn't work. Back to guest services to be told it looked like we hadn't gone through security getting on the ship. I had to explain that we never got off the ship. It was fixed immediately and with a few smiles and thank you's. We did enjoy having the boat all to ourselves from around 9:30 until just after 11. Enjoyed chatting with a few of the entertainment staff in their "Just Ask" shirts as they waited for the new load of passengers. Took some great pictures of an empty boat. Actually liked it so much we're doing it again in about a month on the Elation! :D
