  1. It could be because perhaps they use other kinds of tea etc.  I am a tea drinker and on the discovery in the coffee port they used tea pig tea which I enjoy but only use occasionally. I could not get this in the bar area although all the other tea was really nice. My husband likes his chocolate and in his opinion it had more taste in the coffee port but most probably others think differently.

I must say I tried one of the strawberry cake affairs and thought it was going to be a little cake when it came out it was like a meal. I can't remember the name of it but it's certainly on my wish list for the next time.

  2. HI So,to saint thanks for replying. We will be arriving by taxi so we will just be dropped off with cases. Did not know if there was a drop off area and if porters then collected cases. As we have never gone from a home port before we are looking forward to the new experience and not having to fly.

Thank you for any information you may be able to give.

  3. Hi everybody, wondered if anyone could help. I know sailing from Southampton is new but does anyone know what the procedure will be for depositing suitcases on arrival at Southampton dock, do Marella send cabin stickers and information in the post so suitcases can be marked before they are taken to the ship or are you given it at the port and then mark your case, as we have done in the past when leaving from Palma.

Thank you for any information regarding this.

  5. Hi Mollythedolly!

Can't help with wifi prices as never use it on the ship as it is so slow.....but on the three cruises we've been on Island Escape, all the ports we went to have cafes with free wifi if you just buy a coffee. we have never had a problem finding wifi somewhere close by......even some of the terminals have it. Just keep a lookout for the crew members!.

Wifi is a lot more available in Europe than it is here.

As for getting a packed lunch.....we haven't done a long trip for a couple of years but when we went to Cairo for the day we had a packed lunchbox and a hotel lunch....and on a long trip in Israel we had a hotel lunch.....so depending how long it is (probably over 5 hours but don't quote me on that!) I would think you will....it will probably say in the description of the trip. I usually pinch a banana at breakfast time for emergencies!!

    Thank you jenny wren

Will follow advice on Wi-Fi, it sounds the best thing to do.

Regards a pack lunch, I thought ages ago I had heard someone talking about it on board ship but, of course, we don't mind if we have to do our own thing. Like you say we will have to look in trip description.

    Thanks again Molly

  6. Hi Mollythedolly

Think costs for wifi will be the same as the other Thomson ships. Most people recommend following the crew as they know where all the best spots are and apparently the charges are a bit pricey.

When on a full day excursions it varies. When booking there are symbols beside each excursion which relate to walking (feet), scenic (camera), bags (shopping), cup & saucer (drinks), knife & fork (lunch provided), LTD (limited spaces).

    Hope the above helps.:)

Thank you skioncruises, this is very helpful. Will look at other Thomson ships prices.

    Molly

  7. Hi

Would anyone please know how much it costs to use the ship's Wi-Fi. I know on the other Thomson ships you can buy a package but is it the same on the IE.

Also does anyone please know if you do a full day excursion do you get some kind of pack lunch or do you buy your own.

Many thanks for any help that can be given.

  8. Hi mollythedolly,

447 was a lovely cabin. Configured as two single beds either side of two chest of drawers, you could rearrange the cabin to create a double but that would have create issues with having to jump over each other to get to bed. Whilst Mrs Deep Thinking Fish prefers the double, to be honest the two singles were absolutely fine as they were, and very comfortable. We slept well.

There is also storage under the dressing table/mirror and certainly enough hanging storage for both of us for a fortnight including Captain's night regalia - twice.

The fridge is handy, there's a small storage area next to that plus you can always put things under the beds.

And best of all housekeeping kept it clean with freshly made beds morning and night.

    Enjoy!

Thank you Deep Thinking Fish this is brilliant. So glad now have booked these two cabins. It's always a worry when some one else is going with you.

  9. Hi Mollythedolly

The cabin had two singles which we had made up into a double. The storage was good with a double and single wardrobe, two sets of drawers 4 high and a small set of drawers inside the double wardrobe.

The room was very quiet and had no rattles or vibration

    Enjoy your cruise [emoji3]

Thank you McDream12 it sounds ideal. This is very much what we had hoped for. I can now rest easy.

  10. What was the sleeping configuration of Cabin 4043? Was it three singles or a double and single? I guess it may have changed since but an idea of lay out would be handy. Thanks.

    Hi Deep Thinking Fish

Cabin 4043 had two single beds and 1 pull down bed over the single bed on the left as you walked into the cabin, the same as Shelia49, but, of course, it was a three berth cabin instead of four. In my opinion it had plenty of space and was a very comfortable cabin.

Like you mention it could have changed by now but that is how it was configured at that time.

  11. Thank all of you for your kind replies. From what you have said basically all the outside plus cabins around the area I was looking at were good so this morning I pre-booked cabins 445 and 447. (Let's hope these are the ones given when we get on and there are no mix ups or double bookings).

    Thank you all again

  12. Hi,

Noticed that you recommend cabin 426, which sounds perfect, but is it quite far forward, as it looks like it on the deck plan, only the people who will be using it have never cruised before so wanted to book something midships and more stable. Looking, also' at cabins 428, 445 and 447 and wondered if you know anything about these. I've looked on the cabin reviews but cannot find these listed.

Thank you and any other kind person for any advice you have.

Sorry should have said the ship is Thomson Majesty. (It's been a long day)

  14. Been back from the Spirit almost 2 weeks, had great time. High Spirits where there's disco, cabaret and Top Men playing is often a good place to find the younger cruisers. My children cruised on Spirit with me last year, aged 23 and 17, both really enjoyed it.

Thanks Witsend1, this sounds ideal. Glad you had a good time.

  15. Just back from a cruise on the Spirit. There appeared to be families, young couples, elderly couples and a few teenagers on board. Plenty to see and do for all ages from excursions, going ashore yourself, on board entertainment. Enjoy!

Thank you mjkStirling for your reply with this information. It seems to be quite a mixed age group. Hope you had a good time.

  16. Hi Mollythedolly

Its been couple of years since we have been on the Spirit but from what I can remember the answer is yes, its a sister ship to the Celebration. We have found that all the Thomson ships have all age groups, and they all have late night disco's.

    Have a great time:)

    Thank you Pensioncruiser,

Having never been on the Spirit I didn't know a lot about her and after looking at the 2016 brochure, sent via email to me, this ship and the Majesty look the best value for July and August 2016 compared to the others including Dream and Discovery. I know the girl's will love whatever ship is selected for them and hopefully the weather will be lovely and by looking at some of the ports of call, which me and my other half have already been to see, I'm sure some will be interesting and some easy to walk around in.

Thank you again for your reply.

  17. Hi Can anyone help please. Taking granddaughter and her friend, both 18, on a cruise and have been looking at the Spirit. Are their many in their age range on the Spirit, as I do not know much about this ship.

    Thank you for any help.
