  1. Our Caribbean Princess April 30, 2022 cruise was cancelled due to the drydock. I believe the correct dates for the drydock for her is March 20 - May 13th 2022.

I wish the schedule showed what the drydock entails as that seems like a long time.

Thank you for your responses! We have done aft cabins before and they are the best.

We are in D726 a few cabins away from you on the same cruise.  I’ve spoken to a few people who have cruised in that cabin and they said they had no problems with soot.  I would think it would be the same for your cabin.

    Drydock/Wetdock Schedule

Periodically, the ships are taken out of service for refit or refurbishment. Usually, the ships are removed from the water and placed in drydock while the work is being done.

Just got notice that our March 20th Eastern Caribbean cruise on the CB was cancelled due to a change in drydock schedule.  😔

Strange.  I just checked the Princess site and it shows you can’t book any cruises on the CB in April 2022. We are booked on the 4/30/2022 cruise. I hope they update both the drydock schedule and their website to the correct information soon.

We loved loved loved our Vista D736  Very large totally covered balcony with slight wrap around to the side.  Sure it had the beam but never got in our way. Balcony had room for round table with 4 large wooden chairs around it and 2 loungers that faced aft with room to walk around.  The room itself was more than plenty big for 3 and had rooms above and below and only one next door so quiet.

We have stayed in Vista also, but in D737 which we also liked. We have the opportunity to get a midship penthouse or the owners suite A753 and are curious if they are nicer than the Vista.

be careful about these as they are directly under the lido deck on the CB.  we had our one and only ( so far ) upsell to a suite and ours was under the ice cream parlor on lido and there was some chair scraping noise when chars were moved about during the day, but still very, very nice

That’s what I was afraid of with the midship suites. Were you disturbed by any noise from the pool or parties on deck?

DW and I have stayed in several of the aft suites on both the Caribbean and Crown Princess.  We will be in one on the Crown Princess in November of this year.

We love the view and the large covered balcony with no wind.  The only con that we have is the distance to everything else on the ship.

Do you remember if they were Vista or Penthouse?  And cabin numbers?

  7. We loved Sky Princess with the exception of the adult pool.  We really disliked not being able to look out at the ocean when near the pool and that they removed the pool steps. That was one of our favorite areas on the Royal and Regal.

  8. On 3/10 called our TA to cancel our 3/14 cruise.  On 3/12 we completed the paperwork and submitted our choice of all FCC with the additional 100% FCC being offered.  On 3/15 received confirmation from Princess that our request was received.  A few days later our credit card was refunded the port charges of $280.  On May 6th received another request from Princess asking if we wanted Option 1 or 2.  Thought it was strange but figured they were just confirming. Submitted that request and received another confirmation of receipt from Princess a few days later.  On 5/29 $100 from the FCC we used as the deposit on the cruise when it was booked is in each if our Circle accounts. It’s been 79 days and we have not received any FCC from the cruise itself or any of the additional FCC promised.

  9. We’ve been in  one of the Penhouse suites on the Royal and Sky Princess. Except for the narrow balcony, we loved the suites.  Both times are cabin were directly across from the laundry room and concierge lounge.  We never heard any noise and found the location very convenient.  I believe we were in R611 both times.

  10. I bought a couple of them a year ago because they were so comfortable on our cruise.  I’m not impressed with them at all.  They don’t seem like the same pillows we loved on the cruise. They shed feathers like crazy and have flattened quite a bit. A waste of money in my opinion.

  11. I understand your disappointment. Yesterday we cancelled our caribbean cruise that is leaving this Saturday. We had waffled on it all last week but after seeing people turned away at the last minute for their cruises and then reading that a greeter at Port Everglades tested positive, we feel comfortable with our decision.  I’m not as worried about the virus as I am about being quarantined in an unfamiliar place for weeks. There are still people sick and/or quarantined from the Diamond Princess. Hopefully those still cruising will stay healthy and have a wonderful time.  We will rebook something for the future.

  12. I have an excursion booked with Bodden Tours next month. They said to ask the Taxi Dispatcher (in a green Mahogany Bay shirt) to direct us to one of the taxis that will take us over the hill to meet our tour guide for $2 per person.

I think that the shareholder benefit applies to ownership at the time of booking, not date of sailing.  If you think about it now, how could you book your excursions in advance using your shareholder benefit if you have to wait until almost sailing to get it?  I agree with you 100% about Princess being consistently inconsistent.  I wonder if Carnival or Cunard PAX run into the same issues?

True, it probably is based on booking date and not sailing date.

I had to mail my requests because each time I tried to fax them, it wouldn’t go through.  I had 2 separate requests for the 2 cruises, but mailed them together.  One went through, the other didn’t. Maybe it was an oversight by the person who opened the mail. Hopefully the request I mailed last week for my March cruise will make it through this time.

Where are people seeing this 3 month guideline?  I have a cruise booked for April 2021 and I just double checked and my shareholder credit is showing already on that cruise.  I'd really like to see that in writing somewhere.

BTW is your March cruse out of Australia or the U.S.?

I live in and am cruising from the USA.  I don’t know where the guideline is now, I believe it used to be on the benefit form. Maybe they removed it.  I can only tell you my experience, which is that they did not give me my shareholder benefit when I requested it in Sept. 2019 for a March 2020 cruise.

If you received the benefit already then it just shows that Princess has an issue with consistency. The 3-month guideline makes sense when you think about it.  How would they know if you sold all of your CCL stock between now and April 2021 and were unfairly getting the shareholder benefit?

  15. I had a cruise booked for this past December and one for this March.  I sent a separate shareholder benefit request for each cruise this past September.  The benefit was applied to the December cruise which was within the 3-month guideline.  They did not apply the benefit to my upcoming March cruise, so I just recently re-submitted it since I am within the 3-month timeframe now.  I’m in the USA.

  16. I wasn’t a big fan of Caribbean Princess after 4 cruises on her over a 5-year period. The last one we had a flooded cabin in the middle of the night which wasn’t fun.  But, we went on her again for the 5th time last May after drydock and had a wonderful cruise with no problems.  The staff, food, and entertainment were great but I can’t comment on the Medallion experience because at that time all it would do is unlock our cabin door.

  17. Was this an older man?  I have MS and have some balance issues, especially when stepping onto a down escalator.  Once I have stepped on, I’m fine.  Usually I will hold the rail with my right hand and my husband holds my left arm and we step on the escalator together. Once I’m “safely” on he will either step behind me or in front.  Last year when we did that the older man directing people at the escalator started yelling at my husband for assisting me. My husband just yelled right back that nobody was going to stop him from helping his wife and the man yelled down the escalator at us threatening to call the police!  It’s the first time something like that had happened and was so embarrassing. I complained about it in our Princess survey, but really he is a port employee. He has no business with that “job”.  His compassion and common sense are certainly lacking. It totally ruined the “come back new” feeling for us.

Obviously what you experienced is much more traumatic and if it is the same man, I hope you file a complaint with the port authority.  I really wish I had.

  18. We were in D737 Vista suite on Caribbean Princess last month.  The balcony was huge and when we were out there it felt like we were the only ones on the ship. I would choose it again if the price was right.
