  1. Another recent instance of a shockingly quick turnaround.

My wife recently applied for her first passport. The application was made Friday, 16 February, from central Mississippi. The Department of State received the application materials the following Wednesday, 21 February. Her passport arrived this past Friday, 1 March. No rush processing or anything, only two weeks from application to delivery.

People wouldn't have to pick through the bacon if they actually cooked it enough.  To try and find crispy bacon, you have to pick through the undercooked pieces.

That's a defect with the food.

It's not a defect with the food so much as it's people having preferences and Carnival having options. Some prefer crispy bacon, some prefer floppy, others prefer one of the options in between the two extremes.

While someone with your taste may refer to floppy bacon as undercooked, others would refer to crispy bacon as overcooked.

  3. Those saying it takes 8+ drinks to break even either aren't doing the math correctly, aren't accounting for the wide variety of non-alcoholic drinks covered, or perhaps a bit of both,

At $12/drink (which is a rounded average across various sorts of alcoholic drinks: the average cost for beer alone would be lower, wine and frozen drinks are in that ballpark, and cocktails higher) you'd need to average 6 drinks/day/person though that only takes into account alcohol. Cheers also allows unlimited soda, bottled water, specialty (meaning anything but the most basic, available at the buffet/MDR) coffee, milkshakes, energy drinks, and a couple of others, which must be factored in as well, bringing down the number of alcoholic drinks to hit the break-even point.

You can use a calculator, such as this one, to help you determine if the package would work for your cabin.

  4. Just found this topic...starting at the beginning and working my way through. :D

My girlfriend and I will be sailing on the Pride this June. On our cruise, I'm planing to propose; she has told me before that she's always wanted a big, public proposal so I'm going to try emailing someone (John Heald? Our CD? Someone else?) about trying to set something up. Any ideas? :D

  5. I kept telling my PVP that he needed to surprise me and have me put in one of the owners' suites. I mean, I sailed TWICE last year while I was unemployed! How loyal of a customer am I?!?!

And I just knew someone would give me a hard time about staying on the river side. :p

I was at the round Holiday Inn. THAT riverside. Not the side over by Patriots Point.

I am SO ready for this cruise! It is going to be so strange to sail solo. I can get up early and not worry about bothering my late-sleeping DD. I can eat ANY TIME I WANT to and not have anyone roll their eyes when I say I'm hungry again! I can lose as much money as I want in the casino! I can go to the lounges and dance - ALL ALONE IF NECESSARY - and not care!!!!

    :D

Your eatign habits sound as if you would fit well with our group!

  6. I said "I imagine" they'll all get the balcony cabins, but I don't know that for sure. I would think that if they want to keep all these ships in the fleet that they will need to do that, since EVERYONE wants a balcony. Except me, I guess. ;)

Last time I was in Charleston was a few years ago, and we were staying at Isle of Palms. Drove into town for dinner one night and ate at a brewery/restaurant and then walked down along the waterfront. It's been quite a few years since I actually stayed in Charleston, and that time we stayed over on the river side of town.

Looking forward to spending a few hours in the market/historic/waterfront area late tomorrow afternoon! :D

Every part of Charleston is the "river side of town". :p

  7. Our group (19 of us) are staying at the Hampton Inn in North Charleston. It's the one located on Fernwood Drive, if anyone wants to look it up on their website. We have a free breakfast, plus the Park & Cruise deal included, with shuttle service.

  8. Did I read right on here though, the Charleston port requires a significant "uphill" tread to get on the ship?

While I haven't been to the cruise terminal proper, there isn't anywhere in downtown Charleston with a "significant" uphill walk.

  9. The secret doors on the Fantasy class ships, you have to go all the way through the main show lounge on either side and go through two sets of doors, (it doesn't look like you can go through here but you can), You get amazing views and it is very peaceful here.

Read this in an older topic and, not having seen it in this topic, thought I'd let everyone else know about it.
