This picture is pure awesomeness... I'm not sure what I like more, the Ship-on-a-stick, the dice or the fact that there is a ribbon across the money to let me know how much it is.

If I had seen this pic with no background info I would have guessed it was of the safe at Gerry Cahill's house :D

  2. Isn't that kinda the same way slot machines are set to pay off?? Just asking!!:)

Yup, same thing. The only difference is people see these and think it's actually based on skill. I used to think the same thing... I was crushed the day I found out that crane machines had a payout schedule too, lol.

  3. Cant believe we had no clue this was going on.

I just figured it out not too long ago myself. When I started researching my upcoming cruises I saw a video of people playing it and thought it looked interesting.. after digging around I found this:

    https://docs.google.com/file/d/0B3SmqkZkICgvOGU5NjQ0MDktMmEyNy00MjE5LWFlNzYtOTMxNGY0M2ZlNjE1/edit?hl=en_US&pli=1

The real name for this machine (as someone else mentioned) is the Sega Keymaster.. that link is the page of the setup manual that shows how to change the payoff for each row. You'll notice each row can be set to payoff after up to 9999 "credits".. and by default 1 credit is $1. I'm not saying Carnival has them set to 9999 but that's the max. You can also make each row different so I'm sure the bottom rows are set lower. I guess if you see 9998 other people put a dollar in it's time to play :D

  4. I thought I was going to shed some light on this machine but I see most people already knew how it works. It has a "payout schedule" that can be set so the owner still makes an ROI (return on investment) regardless of how big the prize is. Just like slot machines and crane machines.

I'm assuming SOME skill is involved even when it's time to payout, I'm sure you have to get somewhere near the keyhole.

  5. • A blank gift card or any blank card with magnetic strip. (used for the safe in the room)

Why would you need this, I thought your Sign and Sail card was used for the safe? Not trying to be a jerk, just a first timer who's honestly curious.

Some of the safes have a sticker on them saying to NOT use your sign and sail card... I also read in a thread here that if you did it would deactivate your sign and sail, I have no idea if that's true.
