  1. Great pictures! I didn't see myself in any of them but it sure looks like you had a great time. I also worked Carnival. The first ship I ever worked was the Festival (2 wks), then the Marti Gras (2 months), the Carnival (3 wks) and finally the Holiday (2 wks) which was a brand new ship then and all the rave. I think she was the first in her class of ships if I recall.

Of all the ships I worked I had the most fun on the Festival, likely because it was my first ship and it was new to me.

I remember we had nicknamed Carnival ships "the screw ships" because they were always finding people screwing in the life boats, elevators and just about anywhere they could find a semi-private spot. One night I went out by the pool with a date to find there was a couple on top ot the pool net going to town, and a steward standing by the edge telling them they had to leave (whom they ignored). He picked up one of the long poles and began tapping the couple on the back with it while they were "taking care of business". The guy wasn't too happy about it and yelled a few explitives at the steward. It was notably one of the best shows I ever saw on a ship. My date and I laughed our a**es off.

I made a couple of posters on the Marti Gras and hung one of them in the crew hallway. It stayed there for about two days until the first officer saw it and ripped it down. I was bored... so made a cutout poster of the Festival humping the Mardi Graw. Aparently the first officer didn't see it as amusing. He searched for days to find the culpret and asked everyone (including me). Nobody gave me up though! I made another and hung it in my room. It went to Ben the bass player when I left.

It was a great time in life, wasn't it? We had a blast. I wouldn't trade those memories for all the gold in the world. (well... maybe for all of it)

I was one of the Pursers on the S/S Rhapsody and maybe either or both of you are in my Paquet Album on Facebook:

I have been able to find a ton load of crewmembers from my years on Carnival but so far none from Paquet and I need some to help me remember names and TAG some of the other crewmembers in my album.

    Cheers,

    Mark

  2. I think I remember you, and I think I may have a picture of you somewhere in my memories box.

I worked on the Rhapsody twice. Once before it was sold and once either right after or right before it was sold. I remember waiting to hear from my agent whether it was going to sail again or not. When I worked on her the second time it had just been refitted/ remod and sailed out of Ft. Lauderdale. Circa 85-86 I think.

I was a relief cruise staff, disc jockey and sound engineer. I would work a few weeks on a ship as a fill in, then they would move me to another ship (via my agent/ pirate). I worked 17 ships in all over two and a half years. It was a lot of fun!

I think it was only a one or two week gig for me. I know it was a Caribbean run but I don't recall the ports.

How has life treated you all these years?

    Hey Carlos,

My name is Jacqui Marsh (now Kraus). I was a solo entertainer in the Lido Deck/Lounge. I was about 23 at the time, 5'10" Blonde. I was the "token tall blonde girl from NY". There weren't many females on that ship. The Rhapsody was my very first cruise ship experience, and she will always hold a special place in my heart. I did get another chance to see her after Paquet shut down, as I worked for Regency Cruiselines and they purchased her to be the Regent Sun. I was sad to hear of her demise. Such a waste!

    Take Care,

    Jacqui
