  1. We were also on the Zuiderdam from Feb. 3-14 and I heard of no problems with A/C or plumbing! Maybe they have fixed the problems.

We were on the Zuiderdam at the same time! Hope you enjoyed your cruise!

Our cabin was 8085 and my MIL was in 8083 and the air conditioning and plumbing in both rooms had no problems at all. The main issue I had was with the ancient hair dryer which was screwed right into the drawer and ended up dying every 5 seconds ha ha. But I ended up just borrowing the one from my MIL's room which had been thankfully updated lol

  2. Interesting insight Sail. I think I can round up all the Canadians on board and threaten mutiny if the games aren't on, lol...

Maybe I'll send the office a question and get the ball rolling.

We are on your ship with you, and would definitely watch if it was offered. I met you over in the roll call but didn't realize you were Canadian! Hubby and I are from Vancouver island.

Although I think chances are probably slim, let us know how you make out!

  3. We just booked Martin Travel Tours for the day we are there in February. He has a 4x4 SUV that can hold 4 people. We are only two but you still pay for the day. He is charging us $220 but we will have him for the entire day and he is customizing the tour for what we want to do.

We looked at the water tour from curacao actief and it's $105 per person (so $210) but we can't add to the tour or make changes to it. Martin is taking us to many different places and it's just the two of us so we could change things thought the day if we wanted.

He seems very nice, was quick to respond, and has great reviews.

Let me know if you'd like some more information.

  4. Thanks for all of that information Bill. It sounds like that excursion is definitely worth taking? We are still in talks with my mother in law trying to decide but to me this one interests me the most. What is the ferry like? Do they have an open deck where you can appreciate the views? Also my MIL was asking about bathroom breaks. Is there one on the ferry?

  5. Bill - than you so much for the information. I'm a little confused though. I thought we would stay on the same ship (Zuiderdam) for the whole cruise. From what you wrote, it sounds like we would change ships.

    Hi Kayla!

We are actually going on the Zuiderdam on February 3rd for an 11 day partial Panama Canal cruise. I have been doing a ton of research and it sounds like bill is referring to an excursion that you can take.

When it's the partial cruise the ship goes into the lake and turns around and comes back. However you can get off the ship and do some excursions at a Gatun lake.

There is one excursion that we have been looking into called the Panama Canal experience to Colon where you take a bus ride to a ferry vessel which then takes you through the rest of the canal. I have read that because the boat is so much smaller it really gives you a different experience. Not only that but I've also heard that the Gaillard cut is worth seeing. Once you go through the canal you board a bus and meet the ship at Colon. I'm pretty sure this is what Bill is referring to. Correct me if I am wrong Bill.

We are leaving for Ft. Lauderdale on February 1st so I can let you know all about the trip when we return!
