  1. I was on the previous 2 sailings; NYC to the Carribean and then NYC to Southampton.

I enjoyed your commentary. A couple of points:

I noticed from the Freestyle dailies that the Syd Norman's venue was no longer used later in the cruise. Do you know why this was the case? It looks the shows were moved to the Spa and the Karaoke was moved to the Atrium.

I regarded the luggage storage as a Pro. I carried on my luggage on the 1st leg because I was unsure of my cabin. It was a last-minute booking. It seems to me that the luggage left outside a person's cabin is less secure then a roped off area that is monitored by the staff.

I suspect you booked a guarantee, not a solo balcony.  Did you look at the cabin number you were in to see if it actually is a BT?  Did your confirmation say you booked a solo balcony?

I booked a Guaranteed Solo Balcony for an upcoming cruise on the Getaway.

    Yes, this did happen.

And likewise, I was assigned a regular balcony cabin. On the invoice, it was listed as category BT-BB.

Unfortunately, it doesn't surprise me that the initial key card didn't allow the poster to access the solo lounge. And it's no surprise customer service gave the poster a hard time about it.

I hope that things will go more smoothly when I board the Getaway.

There wasn't much (if any) going on inside the "Tent" as recent as late April / May when we're on her TA ... with numerous sea days en route to Barcelona, pretty sad - hardly mentioned in the Freestyle Dailies.  Apparently, same trending with the equivalent venue on the Breakaway and Getaway - few cruisers willing to settle for a mediocore 3 course meal with the upcharge & 20% with a live circus-like performance (paid for & watch it once on the BA then, enough)

Very few live and/or semi-live Epic cruise reports lately here on CC ... or, did we missed reading about it 🤔

Mking,  I believe I was on the same transatlantic cruise as you to Barcelona. You probably don't recall or were aware that a talent show took place there on 1 of the sea days. When I looked out into the audience the place appeared to be packed.

  4. Someone recently started a topic about foods you miss on NCL.

    This is the counterpart.

After missing for several years, smoked salmon reappeared last week at the Breakfast Buffet in the Breakaway.

Now you don't have to drag yourself down to the MDR restaurant just to have it.

"TWU Local 556, the union for Southwest Airlines flight attendants, told WFAA-TV in Dallas that at least 600 employees tested positive".

The company, however, denies that, and released the following statement:
"Currently, far less than 1% of more than 60,000 Southwest Airlines Employees have tested positive for the coronavirus (COVID-19).

This may be a misrepresentation of simple math:

    1% of 60,000 is 600.

So if the actual number is 500, Southwest could still questionably claim that far less than 1% of more than 60,000 Southwest Airlines Employees have tested positive.

Even if the number of positive results is 400, it would still be an alarmingly high number.

In addition to these, how many false negatives could there be? It could be a substantial number if it somehow could be ascertained.

How many employees didn't test positive yet will  test positive in the near future if they were retested?

  6. The only thing worse than a port visit to Nassau is an overnight port visit to Nassau.

There may be nothing worse for 364 days out of the year.

The exception is if the extra day in Nassau takes place on Boxing Day.

Then you can see the Junkanoo parade in the middle of the night.

This was my plight turned into a bonus.

  7. how about aft views? i noticed on deck 8 aft, pass the waterfront area is better. less crowded, very quiet area and hardly no one goes back there. it is also a good spot to see the ships wake

The Waterfront walkway around Deck 8 aft on the previous cruise (Jan 19th) was inaccessible for the entire cruise. There were signs that said something like closed due to maintenance and closed due to weather conditions.

  8. This happened about 25 years ago on the Tropicale (sorry it was Carnival but weird nonetheless).

We were having some drinks in 1 of the bars where we had engaged in an interesting conversation with a somewhat shady passenger. After a point, he pulled out a massive hunting knife just like Crocodile Dundee's.

Well, what was he going to do with it? I hope he doesn't come after me with it.

All of a sudden he violently thrusted it into his lower leg. For a while it was apparently sticking out of his leg.

Then he pulled it out, lifted his pants and revealed his wooden leg.
