  2. I'm also looking at this ship for a solo cruise in April. Seeing the responses and your post from January, I'm curious if you've already booked the SKY and sailed yet? And if so, how was the experience?

I did book for Dec of this year. So I can't tell you about it yet. I'm excited about the new ship(for me) still a little unsure about the dining alone with the free style dining. But not enough to deter me from booking. So if you do book and go in April you'll need to come back and give me an update. I say just go for it!!!

  3. Thanks everyone. I'm going to drop it for now and not bring it up. If she brings it up again then I will tell her I want to do this alone. I just know I'll have a much more relaxing time. Really the only one who I do travel with without any issues is my husband and he is doing a solo trip to Vegas. So this year we are on our own. Thanks Again!!

  4. Doing my 2nd solo in Dec. a friend want to come with and I think I'd rather her not. What should I say? We're friends but not really close just not sure how she travels and I'm not sure I want to deal with someone sharing a room.

There is another friend and her boyfriend who just happen to book also but they will do their own thing and me mine. We may meet up occasionally but won't be joined at the hip.

  5. Thank you for your responses. I'm looking to relax while on the ship and some excursions while in port. I'm concerned about dining. On my last solo I dined with 8 other members from the roll call. I would like to dine with others if possible. Not really sure how the Freestyle dining works and what is "Great Outdoors"? I'm ok with relaxing out in the public areas. Thinking the Sky will work perfectly except for everything but perhaps the dining. Thanks again!

  6. Thinking about my 14th total cruise but 2nd solo. All have been on RCCL, Carnival or Disney. Considering the Sky for a 4 day Bahamas cruise to Grand Bahama, Nassau and Great Stirup Cay. Price is great wondering what people think about the ship? Anyone have some input?

  7. I just finished reading your review and it was fantastic. Thanks for taking the time to write it. We just booked the Liberty for next January and I have a couple questions for you.

You mentioned that there were sometimes chicken fingers or hot dogs in the sports bar? Did those cost extra or were they included with your fare? *Fingers crossed they'll add buffalo wings before we sail!*

Do you know if you had to pay to use the pool tables?

I know you mentioned that you don't like the shows, but I was wondering if you remembered what ones they had.

    Thanks again!

We too are booked for the 19th, with the help of this review. Are you signed up for the roll call? I've looked and there are 3-4 different threads started didn't know which one or all of them to sign up with. We have been with RCCL for our past 5 cruises, We're excited to try another Carnival ship with some new upgrades. Our previous Carnival cruises have been the Ecstasy and Fantasy.

  8. We had a 4J room on the Triumph last year and it was just ok. My wife and I both agreed there was a noticeable difference in the movement you feel, and we hardly ever have a problem with this. Several times it was to the point one or both of us felt a little " quesey ". The other big negative is the if you are outside you cannot enjoy it unless your in port because the wind is horrible. Even when we were going down the Mississippi River at a lower speed , the wind was bad. On the open water it was almost unbearable. We would not book one again.

Thanks, I think we'll stick with an inside down on deck 1. We'll save the money for a couple DOD's.

  9. These rooms are called 4J's. They are really nice as they have the window but are classified as inside. There will be a door at either end. Go out these and you will have an area across the front of the ship.

Nice view and yes there are chairs out there...at least there were on the ship we had a 4J on. You must keep your curtains drawn at night...two reasons: 1) The bridge needs complete darkness in the front of the ship. Look up at night and you will see the red lights on in the bridge...pretty cool. PLEASE hold the hand rail until you are in the exact front of the ship, if you go out there at night. There are stairwells leading to other decks and you can easily fall. Your eyes will adjust and you will be able to see. 2) The windows are coated so they are not see through in the daylight but the ARE see through at night!

We enjoy these rooms very much!

First off great review!!!! The hubby and I are thinking of booking the Liberty for next Jan and are looking at the 4J's do you think you feel more motion being up high and at the front of the ship. We have never had cabins in the front always miship or aft. Thanks in advance!

  10. I just booked them yesterday for our cruise in Jan. When I called no one answered, but within 3 minutes someone called me back from their caller ID. I didn't leave a message, I was just going to book online. So far I am impressed from talking to them on the phone. We are going from Miami airport to a hotel in Dania then from Port Everglades to Miami Airport for $95 each way and that includes a meet and greet in baggage claims and tip. On the way back it includes port fees and tip. That was the cheapest I could find. I know a car would be cheper but more of a hassle in my opinion.

  11. Does anyone know if they give out drink cups when you purchase a soda plan on Oasis? Two years ago on Freedom, they gave us cooler cups with lids when we purchased the drink plans. I don't want to bring one along if they give them to you.

Yes they do. We were on the Navigator in Dec and they did then at least. We now have 6 of them. But are huge pop drinkers so it pays for itself.

  12. Have you considered contacting a newpaper or TV station in Aruba. If I have read your post right it sounds like someone who lives there. Might just work. In the other camera thread there was a story on BBC, that a friend of the woman who lost the camera reconized her from pics.

  13. I'm looking for transportation for my friend and her son for their cruise in August. Arriving at MCO and staying overnight in Cocoa Beach before their Freedom of the Seas cruise.

She is travelling with another family (who incidentally invited her to come with them on vacation) but they decided that they are going to stay overnight with friends in the area so she's on her own (kinda rude if you ask me), so I'd like to find her safe, reliable transportation at a reasonable rate.

I checked out Happy Limo but their rates are $132 from MCO to Cocoa Beach. A previous poster mentioned Orlando Airport Shuttle and they said the charge was $55 if it was before 7 PM (which she will be). Not sure if that's per person or total.

I just don't know what to advise her to do. She's a young widow, son is 8 years old, so I want to be sure she's safe and well taken care of, but don't want her to have to spend more than is necessary.

I was the person who recommended Orlando Airport Shuttle and I would be OK being alone with the owner in the car but FYI I have only used him once and I had a friend and another couple with us. But he seems like a genuine guy. And that was total for the price. I put his number on my last post, you can always call and get a quote, that's always free:) It was $55 plus a nice tip for the 4 of us, the other couple I met on our roll call on here and met at the airport for the first time also.
