Thank you, I found it. I was very disappointed to note the menus did not indicate gluten free, dairy free, etc. we might be better off in the MDR although right now the Verandas and Concierge are priced higher than Aqua Class where we are booked.

Rest assured - you will be able to do your food in the Aqua made to order gluten free, especially suitable and safe if you are celiac.  You will order the night before for your nightly meal, and also for breakfast.  The Blu isn't open at lunch, but you can eat in the MDR at lunch. If you have questions feel free to message me, I would be happy to help you out with additional info - I've been traveling gf for well over 13+ years now!

  2. Sailing: Dec 2018

    Ship:   Silhouette

    Cabin# 1535

    Deck# 11

    Class # Aqua Class 2

    Area# Forward

    Bed#  Near Bathroom

    Quiet# NO!

    Balcony View #  Unobstructed

    Balcony size# Normal

    Wind Problem# No

Problems# NOISE - it is across from a Crew Service Entrance - and there are several doors behind the main door with lots of activity, including contstant use of a moving dolly - banging started before 5:40am everyday.  It was so bad that they locked it in the evening and tried to cut the noise for us. In the afternoon there was banging from the Aqua Spa Cafe' above - (slamming the door). If you have this room - bring ear plugs for a better rest.

Here is my second experience, which may help Vincent get the reward he deserves. On my last cruise, the sommelier in Luminae was outstanding. After two nights of discussion about wine and several tastings, he “got” my wine preferences. His recommendations were spot on. As we know, there is a comment card, available at Guest Relations, which lets us comment on a crew member who has provided outstanding service. I wrote a very nice, detailed, card about the sommelier. (Sorry, I am awful with names, but would recognize him, if I saw him.)  About two days later, I sit down for dinner. He appears within minutes and places a glass of wine in front of me and says “I think you will like this.”  One taste, and I clearly knew this was a wine well above the premium package level. I thanked him for it. ( I am paraphrasing here.). He said that no, it is I who thank you. Your comment card about me was read at our meeting. Because of it, I get extra time off and it will help me toward a promotion. I jokingly said, you”ll get some extra sleep. He said no, I can read and study more about wine. I want to become a Master Sommelier.

A really nice comment card about Vincent may be a good thing, if you haven’t already done that.

We try to do the comment card at least several times during a cruise! We recognize "anyone" that goes above and beyond their duties, or is outstanding in their job they are assigned. My favorite comment card went to a restroom attendant - for the job they had, always a smile, hand towels were folded ready to hand you one, everything was always sparkling clean or they were cleaning, always spoke with such a happy, positive perspective - that was their assigned position for the 10 nights we were on board the Reflections - they needed recognized for such a great job they did! I think if more people would look for the good in the crew there would be much less complaining. It can also change their lives in a positive way too. (the crew member or their own depending on the experience)

Our Sommelier on that same cruise was very good, but run ragged, every evening he was on triple duty in the Blu, Tuscan & Luminae - He would come and talk for just a quick moment,  pour and then make a mad dash to the next glass to refill. I sadly don't remember his name, but he also brought wines that were great.

I do understand the feeling that something has been taken away, however, the old loyalty perk doesn't really fit anymore with how we like to enjoy any cocktail, water, soda, wine or whatever we choose.  I think it would be an awesome perk if you could use it through-out the day to meet your needs. Special Coffees, water, soda, wine, whatever it is, but that isn't the option we have.... and the new one does seem pretty flexible to fit more peoples needs.

SO, instead, we enjoy getting what we want, when we want it - and we should, we're on vacation, but, if one of the perks works, we use it!  On occasion we like to have a bellini or mimosa in the morning as something special on a sea day to start the day, we  only do that on our cruise, and it makes it special and something to look forward to when we're renewing ourselves at sea.....

(and I believe that is still a loyalty perk in the morning)

Smallest police car I have ever seen.

Those cars are able to get into tight places where others can't - like a walkway in a park,   incase of an emergency, or for "riding a beat" to keep their eye on things.

A few years ago, I watched the shuttle be floated up the Hudson to be put on display, that was very interesting!!

And thanks for posting the wines the other day, I was excited to see a Malbec on the list. I think that's the wine my husband had one on our last cruise onboard Reflections.

Thank-you for posting the wine list! I enjoyed Decoy Cab on the Relections last Dec, my husband enjoyed the Malbec they had. I didn't see any Malbecs on this list, hoping they bring a couple on board for him for our sailing, but perhaps they have it and it's just not on the menu.  I also enjoy a good Kir Royale on occasion before dinner.  Celebrity has the "up to $13" for the premium package on the website, they must not have updated it there yet.  SInce they are raising the premium package to $14 a day from the classic, it's good that they up the "up to" a little bit too.

I believe we met them at the Martini Bar last night. From New York State? Rochester perhaps?

Also thanks for the reminder on the seats at sunset. I’ve made that mistake before!

Yes, that is them, we have cruised with them on many occasions, and they are a lot of fun! If you run into them again, or can remember our names, please tell them Denise & Sam said hello, they will know who we are.  🙂

    Enjoy the day!

This morning we grabbed a couple drinks at the sunset bar and then one at the pool bar. The pool bar was packed around 11am. Absolutely packed. We saw Singh at the pool bar! He was our pool bartender on our TA on the Reflection in April. While the sunset bar will be our mainstay I will pop down to see him. He’s also working in Sky this cruise as well.

There was a great bartender onboard Refections last December, Campbell, from Guatamala - such a fun witty big guy. He would wear one name tag in the morning, when he worked the pool bar and a different one in the evening when he worked the bar down on deck 4 near the future cruise booking area - I've been wondering if he's still there?

Watch the white stools around the sunset bar if it rains.... they seem to collect some water and it's hard to tell because of the slight dip in them, I may or may not have got a wet bottom from that experience. :classic_unsure:

I think some of my past crusing friends are on board, you might run into them at the pool bar, Karen & Henry, they are lots of fun!

I agree that they created AQ in order to sell cabins in less desirable locations - good marketing ploy.  But we choose AQ primarily for Blu.  To us, that makes it worth it to have a potentially slightly less desirable location (and on M class - a bigger size cabin than regular balconies).  We have sailed Celebrity enough times to know exactly what we are getting into.  So please refrain from insulting comments about people's choice of cabin locations.    There is gullible, and then there is conscientious choice, knowing the pros and cons.

We enjoy Blu as well, that's the reason we choose AQ.

Thanks for posting the Today & the Spotlight! I enjoy reading them, makes me feel like I'm on board with you.  Your cabin pictures are fantastic, what a delightfull space, especially the balcony.

Also, I thought Sue was going on the Edge? I hope she stays onboard at least until Christmas?  She does keep a fun ship! IF she is leaving, I wonder who will take her place.

We were on the Silhouette at the beginning of this year, and it seemed to me that whenever I asked for a glass of a particular wine at some of the bars (just reading off of the bar menu), they did not have it in stock.   At the beginning of the cruise I was told that they were still waiting for supplies to be delivered, and by the end of the week, they looked at me as if I was crazy, as I pointed to the wine on the menu.   It was definitely a French white wine, on the higher end of the premium beverage package pricing.   I don't know if I would have liked the wine, I just wanted the opportunity to actually have a taste.  And I always had the feeling that whatever was substituted was a cheaper wine.

We upgraded for the premium beverage menu, many of what I was wanting to enjoy or try seems to be missing.  Hope there is a nice selection when we board in December for the caribbean voyages.

  12. I was on a cruise that we had the same itineray as The Liberty of The Seas - We were at Grand Caymen tendered - the Liberty of the Seas pulled out early and asked our ships captain to bring a couple that was still on the dock to the next port since both ships were going to port at another island together again - a little while later we saw the Liberty do a turn around and come back - The Port Authority of Grand Caymen made the RCCL ship come back for them since they pulled out early. I have never seen this before, but I thought it was pretty amazing!

  13. Makes me mad when I see someone go into the Windjammer and refuse the offered hand sanitizer. It's not offered to protect him/her, it's offered to protect the rest of us. This person is going to touch all of the serving utensils in the buffet.

I carry my own personal hand sanitizer spray - way better than what they use on the ship - mine gets rid of the stuff, not cover it up and keep the bad germs on my hands the the sticky stuff the cruise line hands out. My spray has been tested against bleach, and bleach had bacteria growing on it several days afterwards, my spray - nothing in a week!!!! I will stick to carrying my own and not using theirs, but I do understand most people that walk by the washy washy station are not using anything :( I almost think someone should stand inside the public restrooms on the ship and do the washy washy!!!!!!!!

  14. Funny!

Did you see the family on our local news, channel 6, who was on the cruise, and it ruined their whole cruise. I understand their disappointment, but was it really necessary to go to channel 6?

I read an article about the family of 10 and their disappointment, I bet it is the same family --

  15. Fish Lover, remind me to never cruise with you.....and no way they let the parrot on board. They have repeatedly told me I cannot bring my service elephant.....

I busted out a giant laugh, too funny!

The craziest thing that I saw - a guy wore his flannel pj bottoms to the dinning room - almost everynight on a 9 night cruise.

On another cruise, a passenger, a complete stranger to me, asked me to watch her very small purse, while she helped her companion in a wheel chair go to the restroom. - It was a purse you wear over your shoulder, and very small!!??!! I did watch it for her out of shock of the request, and when she came back I told her, I kept my eye on her purse and she could rest assured that it didn't move around, or bother anyone, it sat very quietly where she put it and she should be very proud how she raised it to behave... Amazingly she bought me a nice glass of wine when she came back.

  16. If your husband needs gluten free, I don't think that will go well with a (wheat flour) sandwich., cakes, etc. I need GF also and have yet to find palatable GF bread.

I'll be going on my first GF cruise next month on the Reflection and have requested a GF diet. I can tell you more after my cruise.

Which sailing are you on with the Reflections? I'm on that ship next month too. Dec - and gf

  17. It depends on:

which ship, which itinerary, which barista, which day of the week and the precise time of asking  :D.

So TRUE! Not funny, but can't keep from laughing!

Affogatto was available on Reflection in September, a very nice afternoon treat.

That makes me excited for my upcoming cruise, fingers are crossed it stays on the menu!! :D
