Yayyy and I'm on her!
Have been having a superb cruise. I think we have rated this our best ever.
Will definitely be sailing with celebrity again.
-
I was on the Noordam last year.
The power outlets were US ones if that is of any help.
There are no coin operated laundry facilities, we had to send our laundry out and I'm not sure how much it cost.
The evening entertainment is very lacking. The usual shows and cabaret style acts. I find that you sail on HAL for the ports not the ship or for entertainment.
Hope this helps.

if you want a cruise that you just want to lie around and read a book a day well this is the cruise line for you.
Otherwise skip it. Like someone said zero entertainment during the day and the so called entertainment at night was more suitable for a nursing home! The star performer on the Noordam last year was a glockenspiel player!!
-
I was on the Noordam in February and have never been so bored on my life!
The entertainment consisted of a piano accordion player and a tap dancing saxophonist (I kid you not!)
So if you want to have fun on a cruise give this one a miss!

I read this thinking "Hmmmm I have never met a lady named Stewart!"
and then I got it!
Slow I know.:o

Yayyyyy this is me!!!
My first ctuise without my husband (no he's not passed this is a cruise with my 83yo mother ) :)
Guess I had better start packing soon.
I'm such a last minute kinda girl.
-
That's it!!
I'm cancelling my cruises!
It is far to dangerous out at sea. :p
Someone may sneeze near me!!
The passengers may become crazed and attack me !
Oh and I also won't be able to control myself and I will eat everything in the buffet.
That was a classic article. Thank you for making me smile.:)

We do a Christmas cruise every year (it has become our family tradition) ::)
We have not been disappointed once but found our last Christmas cruise on the Dawn Princess to have been our best yet. I think the small ship provides a better holiday feeling as you get to know the other passengers and crew better.
The younger children I saw had a ball doing christmas craft, making cookies and having their own christmas party with Santa.
The best bit about cruising at Christmas is that you get to escape all the "busyness" that always happens at home and you can just enjoy being together as a family without anyone bring lumbered with all the work.:D

I can stop a loud, rambunctious group of children with a single look (but then I have been teaching for 25 years and it just comes naturally :) )
On our last cruise on New Year's Eve every passenger was given a horn to toot. Now let me just say tooting horns are one of my least favourite things
At dinner many children and adults began tooting, so much so that I had had enough, stood up and said in my most teacherish voice "That is enough!"
Well that stopped the tooting. :)
My own children were amazed at my power (and secretly pleased it wasn't directed at them  )

OMG
Closing eyes that's my dad we are talking about.
La la la la not reading a thing.
Lol! This made me smile.
I have forgotten what the original thread was about.
-
Yes, keep him away from the Bingo.;)
And the knitters and natterers. I am sure that is just a front for single, older women to get together to discuss any single, older men located on the ship! :p
I love a good conspiracy story.
-
Oh my goodness I am experiencing something similar with my 83yo mother who I am cruising with next month.
She keeps forgetting where we are going so I keep having to answer the same questions over and over!
Arggghhhh it's going to be a looooong cruise
-
We found similar things with the Explorer.
I am thinking I will be avoiding RCL from now on.
-
We were trying to figure out what ship it was!
-
Welcome! We are in Melbourne, how about you?
Sydney :)
Would be nice if we had webcams like this here.
-
What a beautiful ship! (I just stumbled onto this group and wondered what you were all watching!)
Oh and hi from Australia :D
-
So what are we talking about? Rust on the hull? Needs a fresh coat of paint?
Metal strips on ship lifted up, balcony railings loose, lift buttons falling off. They have seemed to have fancied up the furnishings but forgotten about the ship. Anyway I can see that you are RCL cruiser so you will have a great time anyway. I guess we were just expecting more because of all the "wow" we had been reading about.
-
Thats the way of it these days......:D
Cruise ships have become Resort Hotels that simply float from one port to another.
Sadly true. I will avoid those garishly huge montrosities that RCL are producing for as long as possible.
-
That's no good and also surprising given she had a major refurb only 6 months ago.
There was new furnishings and carpet. It was the ship itself that looked like it hadn't been touched.
-
I'm sorry you had a bad experience. We love the Voyager class of ship having cruised on them often. I do have to agree that the food on the longer cruises leaves a lot to be desired and quality has dropped over the past few years across the board.
I'm surprised at the smoking complaint though. I'm really allergic (anaphylaxis attacks) to cigarette smoke and haven't really had issues on this class of ship. It means avoiding one side of the pool deck and the casino but I can deal with that. Where else were they smoking?
J
It was all along the starboard sides on all open decks. Really disgusting really. The smoke from the casino permeated both bars near by. Icky!
-
We just got off yesterday and were very disappointed!
Average food, boring entertainment and way too many smoking areas.
The ship is looking very old and the layout of the ship makes it feel more like a hotel at sea rather than a ship.
I guess we were expecting WOW and we found we had "so-so".
-
Sounds like you have had practice:eek:
expert :p

We have started the tradition of cruising every christmas.
The reason we do it is to escape all the annoying Christmassy things (i loathe all of the hoooha!)
Anyway we have found christmas on board to be laid back and not in your face. New year's eve is so much fun at sea plus there is no better way to recover from a hangover than by lying by the pool watching other people suffering more than you :D
Celebrity Solstice has arrived for the season

It was wonderful! The ship has so many places to socialise, hideaway, escape or drink in etc that you cannot possibly be bored. The crew were wonderful at having a variety of activities to participate in so sea days could be as busy or quiet as you wanted.
Will definitely do this cruise again.
