  1. We were on the Summit southern Caribbean end of January and we never had a problem with the buffet. Only ate breakfast there once, and the waffles were yummy and hot. Did have lunch 3 or 4 times. Never had a problem, food was actually pretty good. French Fries at the station at rear of ship, near the exit to the sunset bar area and they were making them constantly. They were also making sandwiches and some things like chicken and tuna salads. Pasta bars , pizza bars and other types of food were always in the same place. Condiment stations were rather oddly placed, but they were always in the same area. One was right behind where you'd pick up your fries so worked well for getting ketchup and utensils. Drink stations were not great, but if a waiter was around he'd get you ice tea or whatever. Salads were fixed as your turn came up in line and you could request things like anchovies or croutons..I can't imagine what changed so drastically in 4 months but it's certainly disappointing to hear.

  2. We also booked a future cruise while on the Summit late January. The 2015 Alaska cruises weren't out yet so the representative said just book anything for now, get $250 OBC for a 7 day cruise, plus 123 and the lower deposit. She did tell us the 123 would not transfer. When the 2015 Alaska were released we immediately booked the cruise we wanted. We got the Capt. Club promo for $150 OBC and were told our previous $250 would show up later, something about them not having the right code yet, we lost the 123. We still haven't seen the $250 show up.....wish they'd just let us keep the 123 and lose the $250, but probably not a chance. At least I'm gonna have to keep after them for all of our Obc we were promised, I too guess we "missed the boat" so to speak, on this promo, lol.

  3. We had 1140 on Jan. 25th sailing and I do have to report the soot was definitely noticeable. The first morning we had breakfast on balcony, which was glorious, and I was barefoot. My husband started laughing because my feet were totally black on the bottoms. Then I noticied the steward had left a towel on the floor at the balcony door, now I know why. We just remembered to wipe off the chairs before sitting down, and I kept my flip-flops on after that, and everything was fine. Would I book a aft cabin again, absolutely, it was wonderful watching the wake, and only one time did we smell any kind of smoke and that was 2 guys smoking smelly cigars just inches off to the port side of center so they technically were on the port side, but they were certainly pushing the point.

  4. Last year we bought open passage certificates on board. Then we booked a cruise shortly thereafter using the certificates...$100 a piece used for deposit. Shortly thereafter the 123 promotion came out...they said we couldn't get it on the cruise we had already booked. So we had to cancel our certificates, they refunded the $200 we had paid, and we rebooked our cruise under the 123 plan, yes, we had to pay the whole deposit, but eventually you're going to pay that anyway, so we got the free drink package, and acutally got aqua class for same price that we had booked concierge. Long story short, there was no problem giving us back our initial cost of passage certificates by cancelling them.

  5. We're in out 60's and would like to go to Lobster Alive for a little beach time and yummy lobster...We don't want to take an excursion so what is the best way to get there, I'm assuming taxi, and does anyone have an approx. figure on the cost? Is there any problem getting a taxi back to the ship? If you do beach before lunch, is there anyway to shower off the sand before going to the restaurant, and where do you go to get umbrella and loungers? I know, probably a lot of dumb questions, but I'll use the "we're getting old" excuse, lol.

  6. We are going to be in Antigua later this month on a very port intensive cuise and were looking to go to Nelsons Dockyard for a few hours without booking an excursion. We will be "beached out" by then, but don't want to spend whole day on ship. Can you just grab a taxi at the ship, and about how much is it?? My biggest concern would be is there any problem getting a taxi back to the ship....any suggestions please!

  7. Just off the Reflection, and there was no pillow menu, however I asked our room steward for a memory foam pillow, no problem. It was there when we returned from dinner. Just ask, they are usually very anxious to please!
