  1. We have stayed in the Titusville area and Cocoa Beach area pre-cruise several times.

We have no problem staying in either area. Both are great! SteerageJoe & OCruisers are spot on.

The Comfort Inn in Cocoa Beach has a park and cruise package that may be cheaper for you. You have to call and ask for it. https://www.choicehotels.com/florida/cocoa-beach/comfort-inn-hotels/fl521

Have you looked at Go Port Canaveral website? https://www.goportcanaveral.com/

Sometimes they have better deals then you can book on your own separately.

If you do stay in Titusville I would recommend Durango's Steakhouse for dinner http://durangostitusville.com/ Although it is within walking distance from the Hampton I would not recommend you doing so due to highway 50 that you would have to cross. It would take you about 3 minutes to drive there in your truck, 1/2 of which is spent making a U-turn :)

We have stayed at the Quality Inn next to IHOP across the street from the Hampton as well as the Best Western with the Durango in it. I would not recommend the Quality Inn, the IHOP is okay, been to much better IHOP's. The Holiday Inn is nice and also available through Go Port Canaveral as a park and cruise package.

You will LOVE Kennedy Space center!

Depending on what type of truck you have and when you plan on going, consider taking a drive around the Black Point Wildlife Drive https://www.fws.gov/refuge/Merritt_Island/Black_Point_Wildlife_Drive.aspx Or even the Manatee Observation Deck at Haulover Canal http://www.merrittislandwildlifeassociation.org/manatee-observation-deck.asp . You should be able to fit one or both of those in with a KSC visit. Hope you get to see a launch!

If you have an extra hour to spend give the Cocoa Beach Escape Room a try. It is a blast!

http://escapecocoabeach.com/ It's only about a 5-10 minute drive south from the port.

Found a really good rate with the Best Western Space Shuttle Inn. Is it a safe hotel for two ladies traveling alone? Also plan on eating at Dixie Crossroads. Anyone know distance from hotel to restaurant?

  2. I logged into the website today to look for another cruise to book. It asked me if I wanted to try an updated version to search for my cruise. It consists of a shopping cart feature. I took the bait and now when you go to book something it automatically puts in the room for you with no options of letting you choose a deck or a room. From what I can gather it gives you the best rate available using your VIFP number. I hate this version. Has anyone else tried this and does anyone know how to revert back to the old version? I can't find any information.

  3. My cruise is in 56 days. I just did a mock booking to find out how many cabins were still available. If my figures are right, there are 17 balconies, 16 suites, 46 ocean views and 73 insides. I have an inside cabin booked. What do you think my chances are of getting a call from the upgrade fairy?

  4. I am on your same cruise. Yay! I keep looking every day to see if any hotel rates go down or any specials. I would like to stay under $100 so the only hotels that I could find with that rate for the night of the 17th are motel 6 Fort Lauderdale for around $72.00 and Days Inn Fort Lauderdale - Oakland Park Airport North for 106.00. These are without taxes. I have reserved both of them so at least I have a backup plan. The Days Inn has free pickup from the airport and to the cruiseport. Just haven't decided which one to go with since I am traveling solo and need to stay somewhere safe. Plane doesn't land until early evening so I won't be spending too much time at the hotel anyways.

I have tried bidding with my highest bid so far being $110.00 (4, 3.5 and 3 star hotels) choosing downtown Ft. Lauderdale, Fort Lauderdale Beach and Fort Lauderdale Airport. None of them were accepted. Since I don't know the area well either, I am not sure how far to venture out from the airport and the further out you go, the more expensive the taxi cab is going to be if they do not offer transportation to the cruise port.

  5. If you can get cabin 2485 on the Dream, take it. It's at least half again as big as the regular cabins, and it has two picture windows instead of one. It also has 1-1/2 bathrooms. The small one has a shower/tub and a sink. I have had that cabin on the Dream and Breeze and it's awesome!

My daughter books this cabin every chance she can get. It will be our third time in this room, once on the Breeze and twice on the Dream.
