They also changed our booking to a 'guarantee' cabin, even though we had our cabin assigned at time of the booking.
I did contact our local MSC representative, they contacted the 'head office', and after a few days we were assigned to a cabin. We got an upgrade from an ocean-view to a balcony cabin on a good spot.

Same experience last couple of months, couldn't get them on the phone.
They do respond to emails, but with a delay of at least one week. This is especially frustrating if they have a follow-up question regarding your initial request.
Currently I have one pending request, I've asked to check my statement by the insurance company that it covers any COVID related costs. I don't want to end up in the situation that it is not accepted and we are denied boarding.
Are there any experiences with that? It is just an statement where it says it's all covered (including COVID) for the party we're traveling with.
Do they let you buy the MSC COVID protection insurance in case they don't accept?

I don’t see any other new sources to confirm this information. Most other news sources are discussing Italy’s slow reopening plans. Fake news?
I don't think it's fake news. Italy has confirmed nobody is allowed to leave the region they live in... So tourism is not an option.

Italy remains closed for tourists until the end of the year... That's quite something for the tourism industry in Italy.

I've booked the Explorer of the Seas which was supposed to leave on October 6 from Rome, but that is not going to happen... I'm curious if they will offer a similar cruise from a different port (from Athens maybe?) or they just cancel the whole 2020 season.

Thanks you all for your tips!
Bringing our own child-seat is not a real option as we are traveling by air from Europe and we don't want to travel too heavy.
We managed to reserve a transfer using www.southfloridashuttles.com.
80USD exc gratuity.

Hi all,
I'm looking for a transfer from Port Everglades to Miami Beach on the 1st of November.
We're traveling with a 1,5 year old, so we need to have a child seat (or transfer in a coach, as that does not require a child seat). We're cruising with Royal Caribbean, but they don't offer transfers that ends in Miami Beach (only at FLL or MIA airport).
Do you have tips??
Regards,
Jasper

After reading this thread, I decided that I had better get on the ball as far as making hotel arrangements for my upcoming cruise in October 2017. I usually never do it this early, but I don't want to pay an arm and leg later if I wait too long.
I went on Hotline and put in my dates (10/4 through 10/8), and I got the same deal that the flying dutchman got! The Sheraton in Backbay for 600 for four nights. I am really happy with this hotel/price, and I just wanted to say thank you to everyone who takes the time to contribute to these threads.
That's great to hear you got the same deal! :)

Based on your advises, after landing in Boston we will first go and see the fall foliage and then stay two nights in Boston before the cruise (18-20 Oct).
We booked through Hotwire and got the Sheraton in Back Bay for +/- 300 USD for two nights in total (inc tax), pretty good deal I would say :-)
We will rent a car and pick it up from the airport at arrival and drop it somewhere in Boston (not booked yet) on the night we stay in Boston, so we don't have to park our car in the city.
Ps. Happy new year!

mking8288 and Carol, thank you both for your very comprehensive responses! That is the information I was looking for. The Kancamagus Highway that jagsfan mentions looks amazing as well.
We'll be definitely renting a car (with a rented car seat) to see the foliage. Sounds like a good option to stay either one or two nights in Boston, then pick up our car and drive to see the foliage, then head back to Boston and step onboard the cruise on Friday. Or first do the foliage and then see Boston.

On 20 October 2017 we're cruising from Boston, prior to the cruise we want to see the fall foliage. Does anyone have any suggestions where to go and where to stay?
We can leave on Saturday (14 Oct), so we should have plenty of days to see the foliage. Please consider that we are traveling with a young kid (1y and 9 months at that time), so preferably do things on a slow pace.
Hope to hear some great advises. Our budget for accommodation is +/- 120 USD per night. I found out that the hotel prices in Boston the night before (oct 19) the cruise are super expensive!
Thanks,
Jasper

Dies anyone has experience with the Miami Beach Airport Express? We're also traveling with a 8 month boy and have no car seat. The bus sounds as quite a good option to go from the airport to Miami Beach. We will bring a buggy and two large suitcases.

Does anybody have experiences with the new inside cabins on deck 3? (Voyager, Navigator or Explorer)
We are booked on #3019 on our November cruise. I'm a bit worried about being close to the public places (noise?).
-
NikC,
Have you perhaps seen the new inside cabins on deck 3? (former night club..). I'm wondering how they look and if they are just like other inside cabins.
The reason I'm asking is that normally cabins are these pre-fab blocks, but I'm not sure if that's possible during a dry-dock. (you would need a large 'hole' in the side of the ship I assume...).
Thanks for sharing your pictures, would love to see more :)

I can confirm they are still present :). Photos later
Great! Enjoy!

I'm also curious to know if the coca cola freestyle machines are still there.

I notice a new (in this picture) third 'white ball', those ones are I think used for satellite and navigation systems. Can we expect some improvements on onboard communication (higher speed internet?).

Cabin6211 not great location. Front of bow.
Would relook at deck 3 try mid ship
Okay, thanks for the advise. I've changed it to stateroom #3019, on the dance floor!

Does anyone has experience with the new Q-category inside cabins on deck 3?
For our next sailing in November we have a Q-category on deck 6 (#6211 to be precise).
Should I change my cabin to the new ones on deck 3? Are they noisy because there are close to the Schooner bar for example?

Port of Ravenna to city transportation options
in Italy Ports
Posted
I'm arriving in Ravenna in July and we've rented a car. The only problem is, how do I get to the car rental facility in Ravenna?
I read people saying there are not many taxis in Ravenna (also no Uber), but will there be some taxis waiting at the port? I don't mind even sharing a cab.
