  1. My review is mixed. I had a tough time getting an Uber from FLL to Port Everglades. One driver cancelled on me. The other claimed he could not find me. The cops at the port are complete jerks as well. On my return I had no problem getting the ride - I was about to get into my Uber and the cop wouldn't let me because it was in "the wrong area". There was no one around me, no traffic to block and the cop was just showing his "authorita!"

It will be a while before I go out of FLL again.

  2. Hi Cruise Critic Community!

I'm new to cruising and we're taking a 4-night cruise on the Disney Dream, and I want to make sure my family and I get to experience as much as we can.

My question is if we book a reservation for Palo, is there a way we can also dine at one of the rotating dining experiences we missed on another night? If not, is it possible to view the schedule of the dining rotation and live shows ( in case we have to book dinner during one of the live shows, I'd like to choose which one we'd miss)?

Any insider information would greatly help. Thank you!

IMHO the brunch is better than the dinner. If you have a day at sea where you can enjoy the brunch do that. That way you can still enjoy Palo and have the full MDR experience.

  3. So this was how I got $847 in cash back/OBC for a Disney Cruise

First sign up or use your ebates account to book online.

If you have never heard of ebates. They offer cash back for online booking at many stores. They have been around for years. Cash is paid to paypal or they can send you a check.

As of this writing - Expedia was offering 10% cash back, Orbitz was offering 9% cash back and Travelocity 10% cash back. When I booked back in February Expedia was offering 14% cash back. It changes frequently depending on what they are pushing. I paid for my cruise in full at the time of booking to ensure I got the maximum cash back.

My Disney cruise was eligible for on board credit of $300 when booking through Expedia. That offer is replaced with one that is not as good right now (you only get $200 for the same spend), but it changes. It has terms and conditions (at the time I had to book with a master card, now it doesn't seem to be the case).

I booked with my Sam's Club MasterCard which gave me 3% cash back on travel purchases.

    In total:

$437 cash back from ebates (after I cruise - excludes taxes and fees)

    $300 Onboard Credit

$110 back from my credit card (will get rebate next year as Sam's pays it out only once a year)

Total $847. My TA could not touch that for a Disney Cruise

If you are willing to consider ebates click the link below. Full disclosure - I may get a bonus for referring you. But you will also get a $10 cash in your ebate account after purchasing more than $25 (I think) through their links. If you don't want to use the link below then just go to ebates directly and sign up. If you do then I thank you :)

  4. Hello,

My eastern Caribbean cruise is coming up in September. My S/O and I are not big time beach people. So we were thinking about staying on board to enjoy the Aqua Duck and the other amenities onboard while the crowd is away from the boat. Wanted to ask y'all if that makes sense or if there is something on St. Thomas I just can't miss.

    Thank you very much!

  6. I wouldn't waste your money.

I just got off the Emerald in Mid April- was my first time on Princess. I was really disappointed with the Crown. The food quality was not that good, I sent a steak back because it was tough, which made my SO wait for me to get a new steak. Plus the presentation stinks. I've dined at Palo on Disney and the Olympic on Celebrity - 3 times in each . The service was amazing and the presentation - I had a salad I took more time taking pictures of than eating because it was so beautifully presented.

The crown throws your sides in a bowl and says "here you go!". Presentation for steaks means your waiter slops some gravy on your plate. There wasn't even a garnish - just meat and sloppy gravy. The sirloin I ate in the MDR on the last night of my cruise was just as good as what I got in the crown and I didn't need to pay for it. This is why I say don't waste your money.

I think if you are going to pay for something it had better be really good and be more than dinner. It should be an event to remember. If I ever sail Princess again I won't spend extra for any restaurant.

  7. I found the MDR fare to be very good. I found the on deck food, especially the pizza to be excellent when I compare it to the other lines I have been on. But I have never been so disappointed in the speciality dining. I would never set foot in the Crown Grill again. Lackluster food and no presentation.

  8. I'm glad to hear you are getting it free, because I would never pay for the privilege again.

  9. Hello,

I looked through the message boards and didn't find what I was looking for. I'm on the Emerald out of Houston next week and I wanted to know what kind of table games and video poker they have onboard.

If they have blackjack does anyone know the rules or if auto shufflers are used?

Craps - do they have a table?

Video Poker - Do they have that and the types of games (Jacks or Better, Deuces Wild and so).

Any other table games beyond what I posted above.

Thank you very much for your help! :)

  10. I've been using dicapack camera cases for years with great results. It is a tough bag that fits around the camera with zip and velcro enclosures that make for a watertight seal. Much cheaper than buying the hard side enclosures and they are designed to fit different types of cameras.

It's great for snorkeling or fooling around in the pool. I would not take it diving. Never had a problem in any of the cases I have bought. Getting used to the camera in the case takes a bit of practice so I would recommend that you try it out in a pool before using it on an excursion.

Just google dicapack for more information.

    They also do smartphone cases

  11. Better have your booking marked no upgrade.

If you want to except an upgrade to a mini suite or suite then have it marked META upgrade only which would be the next cabin cat up from your balcony cat.

Thank you for the super quick reply. I've looked in my cruise personalizer and it doesn't show a setting for that. I'll give them a call tomorrow.

    Thank you again!
