This is of interest to me--- I don't understand well enough how the X/TA relationship works.

I purchased the drink package online and later cancelled via phone (with X) and rebooked to use OBC; I don't remember why I didn't initially book with OBC, either a website issue perhaps or maybe wanting to get Elite discount?

Anyway, my question is this; how would the TA be in the know or responsible for purchases made in the online cruise planner?  I am genuinely asking for knowledge, not challenging or disputing your statement.

You can challenge or dispute if you like (I understand you're not) but I am a TA with 30 years experience. I can see everything that is done on a booking on the agent site. I can see when Celebrity or a client changes something or when payments go in or out, excursions, whatever it is, it is a line item on the booking. You do have to look for it, but I have always done this - look at exactly what is going on with a booking "behind the scenes". It is easy to miss and if the TA is busy, may not look until 4 days before a client's cruise to make sure all is good. Human error on either Celebrity's or TA's side. I would give them both some grace. It happens. ESPECIALLY since the return of cruising after Covid.

I would wonder if the TA knew for some time that money was owed on the fare.

If it was owed on a short excursion, it seems like Celebrity would’ve just cancelled the excursion not the entire reservation.

I think the TA might have made a mistake and was trying to blame Celebrity.

Exactly right. The TA can see what is owed, refunded, noted, and changed on any booking at any time.

It is.a way to fill the ship and collect extra fees.  In general, I avoid cruises with special events, if for no other reason than a very full ship.  My best guess is that you'll have her making a speech and waving to the crowd, for which she'll get a lovely fee.  I prefer less crowded sailings.

Though I agree with avoiding ships with special events in general, this particular cruise is not particularly full at all.

  4. First cruise on Azamara in September (Spain Intensive on Quest). Where can I find EVERYTHING I have already booked?? It doesn't seem to be online in my account. I booked it almost a year ago and have been purchasing excursions, wifi, upgraded package, etc - and the only things showing online in my account are the shore excursions. Obviously, I can search my credit cards for charges, but they don't show what I specifically purchased. Is there one place to find all?

I don't understand the "scam" comment either. Have not gotten this package, but many times have used OBC in the casino. Promo chips to play, real chips if you win, then cash out whatever "real" chips you end up with. I usually loose most, but hey, if I only  win a few dollars, I'm still ahead!  Love gambling with their money.

How are you gambling with their money if they are only giving you $5 for every $50?? That's not much of a deal.

So as I live somewhere where it is not customary to tip, can I not tip when I'm in New York?! 🤣

    Don

No one will arrest you if you do not tip in NY, however "When in Rome...".

  7. You can see the room service menu in "The Red Book" located in your cabin, as well as in the app. Room service was OUTSTANDING. It always came on time and I really liked that the app would notify you when they were on their way with it so you can be prepared (and dressed) to open the door. There are so many options but none were labeled as directly from the restaurants but I did see some of the items on the restaurant menus. I was sailing in a Rockstar suite so room service was free and it did not disappoint. They even have NY Strip on the menu! I've posted all the information and pictures in my FB group that is listed in my signature.

  8. The Bar Tab is for those who know they would use it all up, no question. Otherwise, purchase by the drink. I'm not sure what the confusion is. They do have promotions where if you buy a Bar Tab, you get $50 (or sometimes $100) extra, but if you don't drink that much, extra doesn't matter. I think it is FAR better than the cruise lines who insist that everyone in a cabin purchase a drink package and they're usually ridiculously expensive.

I think he posted in another thread that this cruise on the 17th is a fam trip for people in the industry.

I'm curious to know if it's a few days, if they are going over to Bimini, or just a cruise to nowhere overnight.

I'm a she 😊. It is for invited guests and all I know so far is that it is "A 2 night voyage" but did not say anything about Bimini as far as I know at this point.

Been waiting  856 days for this cruise, so if it kills me, it kills me...

Hahaha! That really did make me laugh out loud! SAME HERE. Our paid trip is in September but we are invited to the inaugural voyage on the 17th of March and come hell or high water I'm going! Unless, of course, I'm the unlucky one who gets coronavirus and have to stay home. 🙄

Scarlet Lady left the Marche region of Italy less than three weeks ago.

61 confirmed cases in Marche now ... Italy itself is over 3000 cases and 100 dead.

I'm assuming if anyone onboard was ill we might know about it, or they might at least be making a faster trip towards Miami ...

Yikes! We're supposed to board on the 17th of March. Hope we hear more about what's happening between now and then.

  13. From my multiple sales meetings with Virgin Voyages, the Galley is a food hall. Each separate eatery has it's own chef (unlike mass cruise lines that have one chef overseeing all food offerings). The restaurants onboard also have their own separate chef driven menus. From everything that I have heard and read "from the horses mouth" the Galley is most certainly not a buffet. I have not been onboard yet, so the truth may be different than what I have been told.

In my app, there are not times, dates or anything, just a static screenIMG_FB29929CB344-1.thumb.jpeg.e7d30a4c9e54289930638b1797b45b72.jpeg

On mine it has our cabin as a limited view sea terrace 👀. We are booked in a Biggest Aft Rockstar suite. Thankfully I am an agent and looked it up on the booking engine. All looks correct there.
