  1. We cancelled about 2 days (3/12) before Carnival did the cancelling for our 3/21 cruise.  About a week ago we received most of our refund.  We got back taxes/fees, spa and shore excursions.  Still waiting on drinks I ordered for the room and dinner reservations.  The refunds were credited to our credit card and we would not have noticed it except for the $900 credit balance that was showing.  It was back-dated to 3/12 and 3/13 (which is the day we cancelled), so you might want to take a gander at your credit card charges/returns for the last month or so.  If it will make you feel better, John Heald was on Facebook today talking about refunds...he said over 1 million of them needed to be done...it takes awhile....there were also many comments on there from people that have received refunds.  Be patient....it might take awhile.....take a look at John's post on Facebook from today.....

  2. We were supposed to sail 3/21 and we cancelled (or postponed) on our own 3/12.  We have received refunds (a few days ago) for all of our shore excursions, our taxes and my husband's spa treatment.  However, I am missing a refund from beverages I purchased for the room and reservations I made for Jijis Restaurant.  Do you think they would refund at two different times or should I contact someone about the 2 refunds I didn't receive?

  3. We used Galveston Express on our last cruise out of Galveston.  They were great!  However, this time, they won't be able to pick us up early enough on our last day to make it in time for our flight out of Houston.  (They don't do a pickup until 9:00 a.m. at the port and our flight out of Houston is at 10:40 a.m.).  Do you have any recommendations for a shuttle service from Houston to Galveston (and back) that will drop us at our hotel on a Friday night and pick us up at the cruise port the next Saturday and take us back to the airport?  I would just like to hire someone that has a good reputation.  Thanks

  4. We would like to book the Cozumel Dolphin Swim with Unlimited Food and Drinks for $125 pp.  Can anyone tell me what beach this is located on?  How far from the Carnival pier?

If you have 4 people in your party and only 2 want to swim with the dolphins, but the other 2 only want to go along, is that possible?  How would that work?

    Thanks, Deb

  5. Does Carnival still dock at the same pier they have been using for at least the last 10 years.  We will be catching a taxi to Chankanaab and I just want to make sure that we won't be on the other side of the island, instead of just 4 miles away from the beach.  Thanks

  6. I just booked the Vista today for March 2020.  I booked an Ocean Suite for my husband and I and an Interior for our girls (21 and 30).  We were hoping that they could be across the hall from us; however, the ship was so booked we barely got rooms at all.  The girls are maybe 9 doors down the hall.

What I'm wondering is if there is a way to go to the Carnival website and see what rooms are available (thinking someone might cancel and I could get them closer to us).  I know this isn't a major biggie, but just thought it could be something I could check every once in awhile.    I know you can do a "mock" reservation....will that work?

  7. We have sailed out of Galveston once.  We stayed at an Embassy Suites, I believe.  We did not have a car, as we took some sort of shuttle from Houston and there was noplace near the Embassy to walk to for dinner (although there was a grocery store).  It looked kind of cute when we were taken down by the pier the next morning....are there some things to do down there and a nice place to stay?  We have a 10 a.m. flight from Milwaukee on Friday and will be getting to Galveston early enough to actually do something besides just eat....so looking for a nice hotel and maybe a grocery that sells liquor....thanks

  8. I have used the over-the-door shoe holder for years in the bathroom, just to keep all the health and beauty items off the counter.

We also save about 2-3 weeks worth of wire dry cleaning hangers so that we can hang up our clothes instead of putting them in the drawers......Carnival doesn't give you very many....then we just leave them there when we leave.

  9. I was just reading some of the cruise rules.....they state that if you're bringing a prescription on board it has to be in it's original container.  Has anybody ever had trouble with this?  It's much easier to use my Sunday thru Saturday pill dispenser than it is to bring a bunch of bottles with me.

  10. They have already taken smoking away from the airports, planes, then the dining room, then inside your cabin, and now the balcony.  Now, as a smoker, we have about 2 choices on where to smoke on that huge cruise ship.  And we are following the rules by smoking at the casino bar.  Please stop bashing us.... We are only doing what we are told....I actually had a woman walk by the bar on our last cruise and tell us we were going to die from cancer.  Well, I have had a loved one die from cancer, and that was absolutely uncalled for....

  11. A few years ago my daughter had a curfew on the last evening. Needless to say, she did not show up. She was having trouble saying goodbye to her friends. My husband was looking all over the ship for her.....boy, was he angry! So, this chat feature would be very nice! As long as we're not accidentally getting roaming charges somehow.....

  12. We did this in Mexico last August and had a great time. My hubby and I wore shorts (swim trunks for him) and our sturdy water shoes. Our legs and shoes got muddy, but we ended at the ocean and rinsed off with a drink in hand!

I will say, if I do it again, I'll wear long pants. There was a lot of heat coming from the ATV right by my leg. As a porcelain - alright, pasty - skinned gal, it really irritated my skin. I ended up with a heat rash for a day or two. Not terrible, but not comfortable. Take the notice to wear long pants seriously if you're sensitive!

Yes, I thought the excursion did recommend long pants.....which I am not going to be real thrilled about, as I am 50-something and always "hot", but I will do as they say.....thanks to all for the helpful tips!

  13. Is it an ATV tour of the island or a short off roading ATV ride? We did an ATV tour in st Martin and didn't get the least bit muddy; it was a full day ATV ride around the island with several stops. They also do 1-2 hour a ATV rides in places, that often combine with other things like zip lining that do more of an ATV park type of ride.

This is a 2-hour in Grand Turk called Off Road ATV Adventure - we will be there on April 20, the week of Easter.
