  1. I am 47 years old and over the years I often thought or taking a cruise but never did till April 2010. It was a short 5 day out of Mobile on the Fantasy.

To put it mildly I was addicted from the moment I saw the ship from the hotel the morning of the cruise. My wife and I had a wonderful time on that first cruise and even now we still love the Fantasy.

since that first cruise in 2010 we have been on a total of 10 cruises and have 2 more booked.

I only wish that I had discovered cruising years ago.

I am truly addicted to cruising. If I don't have a future cruse booked it drives me crazy, I can't sleep, eat, or think straight. I will sit for hours in front of a computer looking at ships and ports until I hit the book now button and get my fix, then the slow countdown to the cruise date begins.

once the cruise is over the whole process starts again. I see no hope of a cure. all I can do is treat the symptoms with more days at sea.

I assume that many here suffer from the same addiction, if so how long can you go without having a future cruise booked???

I posted this a while back and just got time to read the responses

I now know for sure that I am not suffering alone with this addiction .. LOL

I have enjoyed reading the stories and am still counting the days to my next day at sea!!!

  2. WE are booked on the splendor cabin 7447 for a 14 day Hawaii cruise in jan 2019. this is one of the aft wrap/corner cabins. On a short cruise we will just book a interior or a ocean view but with this cruise there are 8+ sea days so I decided to spend the extra money for a large balcony. we have had a aft extended balcony on the conquest and we used it a lot on sea days but it was a western carib cruise( 70 degrees + at night).

I now have had time to think about it and wanted to ask you guys a few questions...

    - Are these aft corner cabins larger/ nicer than a aft extended balcony?

    - has anyone sailed from la to Hawaii in January if so how was temps/weather?

When I booked this cruise I got this cabin while in my mind only thinking about Hawaii and now am wondering if the temps will be warm enough to enjoy the balcony on sea days/ evenings on the way to and back.

  3. Jamman , witch Hawaii cruise are you going on.. I ask because we are booked on the jan 12 2019 on splendor..

I have been "hooked" since 1985. Back then when I was single, I could only afford or get time off work to do one, maybe two cruises a year. Patti never cruised until I took her on our honeymoon. With about five years off to start a family, we started cruising again in 1998 and have not looked back, doing two to three cruises a year. Since 2010 we have ramped it up even more, and now that we are semi-retired, (we both work part time to support our habit), we are booking more, longer, and not in prime time cruises. We currently have nine cruises booked through mid 2019, including three B2B's, and a 14 Day Hawaii Journeys cruise. I think we fit the definition!! :D
  4. I do know that Splendor will be leaving.

The whole family is booked for Sept. 2018 on a 15 dayer to Hawaii.

We took a Splendor cruise to the MR a few years ago when she was home ported here in CA.

We are booked on the January 2019 14 day Hawaii............TOOOO many days to wait..lol

  5. I'm looking at a Mexican Riviera cruise in Feb 2019 and it looks like the only real option is the Splendor. I have heard the Splendor is leaving Carnival in 2019 sometime. I'm worried that any major issues will just have a bandaid fix by that point because they wouldn't want to invest money in expensive fixes just to drop the ship months later.

Would you sail on her that close to when she retires?

I did not know the splendor is leaving carnival. We have a cruise booked on splendor in January 2019. Hope they don't let her get too run down..

  6. Has anyone tried the new Seafood Shack? What did you have and did you like it? Is it worth the charge?

We went on b2b cruises in January on the Triumph this was the first time I had tried the Seafood Shack and I did enjoy I. I did not explore the menu very much though. I tried the fried clams on the second day LOVED them and had them each afternoon on the remainder of both cruises.

if I remember the upcharge was $5.00 and they gave a very generous portion.

To me it was well worth the extra charge.

  7. I am considering booking a cruise for July 2018 on the Carnival Dream, will I be disappointed with this ship?

You could post the question " What is the absolute worst ship to take a cruise on? "

The replies you would get would add up to a list of pretty much every ship. At the end of the day the experience on a carnival ship is pretty much the same across the board.

  8. I did not start cruising till 2010 but have been on 10 since and have 2 more booked.

the largest cutback imo is doing away with the tablecloths and going to the American Table theme.

as far as quality of food I see no difference during the time I have been cruising but only have experience back to 2010.

  9. Youngest bummed with Disney over cruise has me lmao :D That is awesome and funny.

I am super hooked. I, like you, OP, took my first cruise in 2010 with my Hubby and 2 boys, my youngest was 2 at the time. We have not stopped cruising since. We will be hitting our 10th cruise in Nov... and have a few others booked. I constatntly have to have a cruise countdown clock on my phone or life just aint right...lol. Although, my whole family loves to cruise, and I wish I could have done it much younger too.... our youngest son is a cruise addict x10, he has been cruising his whole life. Earlier this year we took a trip to Disney and our youngest was so bummed out that we were going there and not on another ship! Lucky for him, he wont have to wait long to be back at sea!

  10. Ok, I will. I agree it is based on time you play, but it also is based on how much you bet. Nothing to do with how much you buy-in for.

Not sure of the exact formula, and although, they do record how much you buy in for, but it's more about the size of your bet as you play.

You make is sound like you buy-in big and then could play a couple of hands, cash out and get credit for the size of your buy-in. Not so. I often times see the dealers want to color up your chips for 2 reasons, (1) so they keep the small chips at thier table so they don't run out of chips so often, but (2) so they know how much you take away from the table, so they can track how much you actually risked, aka (Track you for your bets).

So, lets say you buy-in for 1,000 and play for 4 hrs, walk away with $1,000, you will still get credit for all that you risked during your play. Say you bet $25 a hand with 60 hands/ hr., so you risked $6000 ($25x 60 hands x 4 hrs) and will maybe get 1 to 4 ratio credit in points, so you got credit for 1500 points. Enough for the DOU card.

Other person does the same buy-in, loses his $1,000 but plays the same size bet, and same hours, he gets the same credit.

I am not sure of the formula, but that is an example of how it works.

You may be correct. But that is what I have been told by casino hosts

I know they log in your buy in and then they log it when you color up but how do they keep up with everyone's bets?

I typically buy in for $300 and rarely bet more than $10 I will play for about an hour then color up and go to another table or take a break an go back to same table where they scan sign and sail card and do the same again then repeat.

I get perks and offers as good as any I have heard of on here and spend very little money.

I hope I have not been doing all that table jumping for nothing lol.
