  1. Hello

Thank you for your offer of help!

I am traveling with my well-traveled 9 and 11 year old. They enjoy museums, trying new foods and new cultures, but at the end of the day, they are still children...so attention spans are still around a couple hours.

We are thinking that the HOHO boats will be a great option since the day can be constantly broken up with different things. We are staying in Stockholm 2 nights before our cruise and 1 night after. We were thinking of a museum...which is better for curious children? Vasa or Skansen (sorry for spelling)? Is the changing of the guard worth it? And what exactly is a smorgesborg and where do we experience one? We thought grona lund would be a nice stop as well since we can spend a couple hours there to break up the day.

Except for the major points on the HOHO boat, what should we bring our children to? We have but one chance to experience your beautiful country and want to show our kids the distinct culture and why Sweden is special. Any advice is appreciated! Thank you!

  2. Yes, there is parking there... http://www.alohatower.com can tell you about that plus shops and restaurants. Last time we were there, it was $12 for 3 or 4 hours we were there. But the tower does validate so you can buy a soda to get some knocked off.

There are no rental companies there an as of our cruise, there were no shuttles except for those rentals arranged through the ship. There is a taxi stand and most rentals are at the airport which is about a 10-15 minute drive in light traffic.

As for late returns, you will have to ask.

  3. If you dont want to spend too much time on a tour, rent a car. We rented and basically mirrored the NCL tour to Waimea Canyon and fern grotto. We finished 2 hours faster (that is including lunch and shopping) and $200 cheaper for the family of 4. We had time to do other things....I wouldve skipped Fern Grotto and done something else, personally, but the point is, you have so many more options with renting and Kauai is so easy to get around.

Now how long does it take to get to Waimea? I forget. But then we stopped along the way too.....it wasnt long in PA driving times...maybe 45 minutes? Its not a big island.
