  1. We are NCL loyalists, but I found a Cuba Cruise, over our anniversary, (mid July)really cheap and jumped feet first into RCCL. I thought it was one day in Havana but RCCL website was offering excursions for Saturday and Sunday, so I called and checked, yes it overnights, great! BUT the RCCL rep stated very firmly "you will not be allowed off the ship unless you are on a ship's excursion"

I have been to the ports of call forum on Cuba, and it seems most the cruise lines are telling people similar things, but many people are doing private tours. I know there are requirements to satisfy US Government, but has anyone been to Cuba in recent months, on RCCL, that can give more insight into if they actually enforce this in anyway?

On a side bar, will RCCL ruin us for NCL? We've been under the impression that it was a step up from NCL

  2. We are on the Breakaway now on a 7 night cruise and there are LOTS of spring breakers on board. Way more than I expected. We are in the Haven, thank god or I think I might lose it. But seriously, the parents are just as bad. I have seen more than my share of slurring drunk parents dropping their kids off or picking them up at the kids club.

Do you realize how you sound, glad I can go along and get along with anyone.

  3. We have sailed out of LA before and will again in a week, like the others said, hand them to a porter and go in, no line. And the 5pm is no doubt because of the lengthy cruise and needing to pack on so much more food & booze

  4. Well update from me, the OP....

Finally got into the Orthopedic today, he said it was a "good break" no surgery, and didn't even cast it. Put me in the big boot instead, said I can hobble all I want as long as it doesn't hurt.

We told him about the cruise, he said sounds like a great way to relax and heal! Even said take the boot off & get in the pool, just be extra careful with it.

We are renting a power scooter from Specialneedsatsea and already called NCL and told them I need a chair to embark. I'm realistic, all the walking/hobbling would wipe me out fast and probably aggravate the leg, so I'll do what I can slowly in port, and use the scooter most of the time on board.

I will update the world after the cruise how it went and if it was a good choice or not...

  5. I'm on the 3/18/18 Star out of LA, just booked it 3? weeks ago. The roll call was not hopping and a couple people had talked about organizing a Meet and Greet, but no one had done anything. I have organized 4 previous times so I took the reigns, started a list based on those who had expressed interest, and emailed star special events requesting the M&G. I promptly got an email back saying they would forward my request to the ship, and I should hear shortly.

A week later I emailed again, again told waiting for the ship to reply.

A week later, waiting for the ship to reply...

Just emailed yet again, a week later, has anyone had this issue lately? NCL has been more than accommodating in the past and quick to schedule so I'm flummoxed

  6. our last few cruises have been balcony and we enjoyed the single cup coffee k\maker, this was a nssue for our next s we could only get an inside, but you say the room service coffee is free?
