We are NCL loyalists, but I found a Cuba Cruise, over our anniversary, (mid July)really cheap and jumped feet first into RCCL. I thought it was one day in Havana but RCCL website was offering excursions for Saturday and Sunday, so I called and checked, yes it overnights, great! BUT the RCCL rep stated very firmly "you will not be allowed off the ship unless you are on a ship's excursion"
I have been to the ports of call forum on Cuba, and it seems most the cruise lines are telling people similar things, but many people are doing private tours. I know there are requirements to satisfy US Government, but has anyone been to Cuba in recent months, on RCCL, that can give more insight into if they actually enforce this in anyway?
On a side bar, will RCCL ruin us for NCL? We've been under the impression that it was a step up from NCL

Sailing her this weekend same itinerary, I had hoped I miss read about the parties/mixers, (guess not) we always liked the officers mixer for the upper levels, latitudes party was always so so for us. How warm was it on the sea days and in the ports? We don't do many winter cruises....

We are on the Breakaway now on a 7 night cruise and there are LOTS of spring breakers on board. Way more than I expected. We are in the Haven, thank god or I think I might lose it. But seriously, the parents are just as bad. I have seen more than my share of slurring drunk parents dropping their kids off or picking them up at the kids club.

Im pretty tough, just advil no narcotics

We have sailed out of LA before and will again in a week, like the others said, hand them to a porter and go in, no line. And the 5pm is no doubt because of the lengthy cruise and needing to pack on so much more food & booze

Well update from me, the OP....
Finally got into the Orthopedic today, he said it was a "good break" no surgery, and didn't even cast it. Put me in the big boot instead, said I can hobble all I want as long as it doesn't hurt.
We told him about the cruise, he said sounds like a great way to relax and heal! Even said take the boot off & get in the pool, just be extra careful with it.
We are renting a power scooter from Specialneedsatsea and already called NCL and told them I need a chair to embark. I'm realistic, all the walking/hobbling would wipe me out fast and probably aggravate the leg, so I'll do what I can slowly in port, and use the scooter most of the time on board.
I will update the world after the cruise how it went and if it was a good choice or not...

Anyone have the name of the company that rents power scooters for cruises, knee scooter is not going well, I have one bad/weak leg, and broke the good one. If we can go Im going need the power scooter

That is the direction where the leaning canceling if possible as far as our plans in the ports we were going to be riding horses in Mazatlan that can't happen beach in Cabo don't know how I get in the ocean and no particular plan yet for Porta but even on board how can I use the pool?
-
cant see ortho till mon or tues, Im sure if I need surgery that means not going. But if not just wondering what to do other than sit on the ship and drink! And we don't even have UBP so that's gonna get pricey! I know Cabo is a tender port, not sure how that would go, can't remember if Puerto V and Mazatlan tender?
-
Assuming Dr. clears me to go ahead and go, anyone had or traveled with someone on a knee scooter? So mad at myself, if Im not cleared then we have travel insurance, but if cleared we will go, just wondering what I can even do with a boot and a scooter, Star out of LA to Cabo, Mazatlan, and Puerto Vallarta fyi.

Just to update, FINALLY today at 1 pm I got confirmation from the ship/group coordinator- no big shock Le Bistro first sea day (I could have told them that!)
18 days from sailing, and 1 month from initial request......but they are accommodating us;)

I know I'm emailing Miami and they are relaying to the ship, atleast the first few emails they replied they were working on it and would get back. I emailed yesterday early in the morning, they haven't even bpthered to reply. This isn't my first rodeo, I've never had this issue, we are 3 weeks out at this point...

Costa Maya is only cruise ship passengers beaching it, we have been numerous times, it is one of the safest feeling beach destinations we have been to.

priority Boarding, I don't believe so
photos, onboard
I see plenty of folks with the drink card just walk up to the bar in the casino and order drinks, unless it was just blatant abuse I don't think they will say much

Yes the Daily service charge, not other Tip's such as a bar tender, but they will prepay the DSC
-
On a lot of cruises my TA will pay your tips, but only on upper categories ie balcony and above

I'm on the 3/18/18 Star out of LA, just booked it 3? weeks ago. The roll call was not hopping and a couple people had talked about organizing a Meet and Greet, but no one had done anything. I have organized 4 previous times so I took the reigns, started a list based on those who had expressed interest, and emailed star special events requesting the M&G. I promptly got an email back saying they would forward my request to the ship, and I should hear shortly.
A week later I emailed again, again told waiting for the ship to reply.
A week later, waiting for the ship to reply...
Just emailed yet again, a week later, has anyone had this issue lately? NCL has been more than accommodating in the past and quick to schedule so I'm flummoxed

It works, we've done it, but it's cozy that's for sure. Not aware of any cabins with 2 drop downs, but maybe, a good TA should be able to find out for you

our last few cruises have been balcony and we enjoyed the single cup coffee k\maker, this was a nssue for our next s we could only get an inside, but you say the room service coffee is free? I thought anything room service had a fee now? We figured we would try to ask for one but not holding out too much hope
-
Pro Tip: In the buffet or anywhere there is the large coffee machines, look for the ones with the bin of beans on top; much better coffee than the others, if you can find them

well, that sucks.:(:(
