No.  He was actually trying to encourage folks to get the Moderna vaccine to folks who were wanting J&J and it was in short supply.  He said don't wait, please get the vaccine that is available and get protected as soon as possible.  I specifically remember this as I was planning on J&J... glad I followed his advice and got Moderna as it was available.

I think folks that don't live in Florida hear some sound bites but really have no idea.

It’s a political agenda, but certain individuals, with multiple logs in , who been thrown off this board many times.. sarge ?///

  2. The vaccines here in the us is doing itsjob, developed and in peoples arms with incredible speed and remarkable astonishing degree of efficacy.
As the population that’s is most at risk is getting vaccinated ,coupled with people who have got it and recovered...this nightmare is finally ending.

Most of the time Government, and central planners are slow , very slow and often wrong in the beginning but eventually get it right .. over time .

politics have been present since day one . BUT at the end of the day now that it’s ending .. the market will decide .

‘if the cdc stalls, and doesn’t react to real world conditions  , cruises will go off shore.
It will add cost,  cruising will most likely be out of reach for some of the demographic but biz leaders will learn how to accommodate , some biz will close as others will pop up and prosper.
It won’t be the first time that government got in the way.

‘but the exciting thing is death in our most vulnerable is going down down down.

and cruising will be back soon .

for those who can’t wait , get vaccinated  and come on down , Florida is open it’s a   giant port of call , at all different  price points and venues suit any and all .

    Come on down !

  3. Some people pull numbers from cnn or butt .. both are usually wrong.

some very very encouraging number from CDC on breakthrough infection.. so get vaccinated  , bring your stimulus and come on down..

Approximately 5,800 fully vaccinated Americans — out of 66 million who received the shots — still became infected with COVID-19, according to Centers for Disease Control and Prevention data reported Thursday. The infections, dubbed breakthrough cases — or positive test results that occur at least two weeks after a person gets their final coronavirus vaccine dose — represents about 0.008 percent of Americans who are fully vaccinated, the Wall Street Journal reported

  4. While politicians and political jacks position for their next round of fundraising , slow gov agencies and central planners get their arms around the real world effects of the great number of vaccinations going in peoples arms .Cruising  will start soon  with them or without them . It will happen somewhere and within 3 months .

In the meantime get vaccinated, Florida is open ,beaches are world class, our water is clear blue , temps are great ,restaurants , bars are open , boating is open . Casino on water are open .

Use the parent company of this site , book a vacation, bring a your stimulus money and pretend you are on a 7 day port of call .

    By the fishing Is great.

So yeah we all know that plays and diamonds can (usually) ignore the staggered check in time they are assigned.

The question though does this mean we are getting closer to cruising? I don't recall seeing this email before and it relates to a cruise I have scheduled in mid November.

    What do you all think?

Maybe Carnival needs to enlist a "Passenger Police" to report the one's that refuse to obey. I am hoping that "Candid Camera" security monitors are enhanced onboard to help deter those type of actions.  Why can't we just "Lead By Example" anymore in this Country?

Yes , since it’s all settled along with cam perhaps your carnival passenger police could enlist the young . Give them arm bands and they can patrol and report. Carnival youth .. hmmm

  7. from tbo. -A woman sailing on a Carnival Cruise Line ship from Jacksonville fell from her cabin’s balcony and died Friday.

Doral-based Carnival Cruise Line spokesman Vance Gulliksen confirmed the death Saturday, saying in a statement that the incident occurred early Friday morning aboard the Carnival Elation.

  8. Oh please. I've been on 5 Princess cruises and 7 Carnivals and depending on the time of year and length of sailing the clientele is virtually interchangeable. And that is in a good way. The vast majority people on both cruise lines are very respectable, very nice and very unselfish.

For all of your anecdotal "guy in the baseball cap" misrepresentations, I can point to sweaty, lotioned women with no swimsuit coverups in the Princess Horizon Court.

For all of your Carnival Cheers maximizers, I can point to drunken sots on Princess who "don't know when to say when" with their unlimited drink package and have sat by the pool many times with couples who've shared and sneaked drinks on the Princess plan.

The reason you see a lot of Cheers questions on the Carnival boards vs the others is due to the unique restrictions with Cheers vs the other cruise lines, so people have questions. Go to the NCL board and look at all of the posts about their so-called Free At Sea UBP Unlimited Beverage Program with the $99 service charge. Are the NCL cruisers now a bunch of dipsomaniacal drunks, too?

Carnival attracts a high percentage of 1st time cruisers, many taking some of CCL's shorter 3/4/5 cruises to test the waters so of course there are going to be a higher percentage of newbie questions skewed to appropriate dress, drink packages and the like. All they are are newbie questions yet you make these people out to be classless. Clueless? Yes. It's their 1st time on a cruise. Classless? Please.

Cruise Critic represents 1% to 2% of the millions of people who cruise every year and is rarely representative of the actual day to day onboard experience.

    Rant over.

You are correct in much of what you are saying, however I just came back from a short cruise from south Florida , I have been on a ton of them.. this is the first time the lido deck looked and felt like I was in a scene from shawshank redemption / prison yard ...

  9. Hmmm there are plenty of these corp branding donation program that go on.. I never have heard of getting a receipt or employees outside of possibly the marketing dept responsible for the program to even know the details..

buy a pizza during this week and xxx corp will donate to your charity .. do u get a receipt ? Does the owner , the pizza maker or delivery know when and how the corp makes the donation ?

  10. It's a low rent cruise line and I'm a low rent type of guy..

It's the Walmart of the seas , I'm a big fan of Walmart.

Seriously for me it comes down to price ..

the overwhelming percent of the time I travel it's flat out cheapest.

Regarding the loyalty program.. it's so cheap to get on I don't see how they can give out much., plus I don't buy much of carnival products ( booze ..I smuggle , pics never bought one, excursions I buy local , and only book deals ) ... so I don't expect much cause I'm not paying much

. when I'm on x and spending 2k more for the same amount of days.. I expect a different program .

  11. I love steak , I'm blessed as I get to travel for business and take clients out . I have eaten some of the best , old school peter lugar my personal favorite. Im not a fan of Ruth's Chris , mortons , cap grill .. chain places . I also prefer dry aged beef.

When we are on ccl , it's usually with a large group of people and it's always seven days. I try to eat in the steakhouse at least twice.. to me it's well worth it..

Now is the the beef great ? Is the ambiance elegant ? Who knows ..All I known is after eating the beef in the mdr ( that gelatinous shoulder muscle masquerading as a steak) along with dancing waiters.....the steakhouse becomes very very nice .. as if you were served a well marbled steak from a hand massaged steer from Kobe, that was dry aged in a Room lightly lined with pink Himalayan salt. 70 bucks for two .. you can spend that in a craft burger joint.. buts that just my opinion .. have fun

  12. Carnival and celebrity sailing the Carib and now in the summer have the same age group when u take the kids out of the equation.

Less kids go to X some more money but you will never look back..

I do think there will be a pivot in the future for ccl, they will take the now all children pools and make one a pay for area at some time .. just a guess but I do believe it's on the way..

but if you want to try a min of children and not saling with blue hairs. Try the equinox out of miami

  13. For me it's lido all the way, I don't cruise if I can't get a lido balcony . It's all personal preference .. I spend a lot of time on lido, bars , pools and such.. so for me its a prime location.

If you need to run to your room its a couple mins, you don't have to lug much around the ship ... use your ownnbathroom ...Just super convienent ... and very very quiet.. little traffic .

The only down side once you start it's to hard to go back

  14. I love Carnival, but it's been 9 years since my last cruise. I know Carnival has cut back on some costs in the last decade. Is there anything that you miss that Carnival used to offer that they don't offer now?

From what I have read here in Cruise Critic, it appears that Carnival has cut back on:

--no more mints on the pillows

--no more lobster on the shorter cruises

--no twice-a-day housekeeping on some ships

--no past-guest party for non-platinum guests

--no tablecloths on non-elegant nights in the dining room

    Anything else?

If you adjust for inflation perhaps a zero to the cost.. the price to cruise seems to be cheaper than it was 9 yrs ago

  15. Lol, me thinks you have a fairly jaundiced view on whatever "peeps are and their influence and how in the heck that could turn into more money on bookings. Love to hear the rationale on that.

    Sent from my iPhone

Sorry for the confusion , let me explain .

I was responding to a persons review in which they were giving their opinion on the vista class ship , how it's size increased and it's pubic places has not , specifically opining on the pool area . They also mention the increases in bars and service. Public spaces , pool areas along with bar service important amenities to me . So that review was of value to to me.

Now for my comment on Others who dismiss , might light of , deflect or steer away from the the topic , I was pointing out there are many people ( peeps) in here that are tied to the industry as a whole . That might include old school travel agents , travel insurance sales , web agents and some low level marketing folks in different capacities all who benefit one way another from only positive comments on a product which is in their sales inventory. In this case the vista class ship... step right up she is the best , book fast , book often and if you can book the vista ...

I understand comments like that and it's motive . I was just commenting to the original poster there are many motives like that .. I hope I gave you some rational behind it my comments .. again it's just mine and along with your rational , it's just two out of many .. nothing more or less ..

  16. Just of the Vista from an 8 day, I was super disappointed. Carnival has missed the target, having only 2 pools available until 7pm when the Havana pool opens to the "public". Think about it, this ship holds 1300-1500 more than a Conquest class ship and has only 2 pools. Epic fail in my opinion. This ship also has 4 more bars than any other ships, but they do not staff anymore bar staff on the ship. One day on Lido there was only the Redfrog bar open with 2 bartenders......no bar waiters on the decks. Awful!! Back to the Dream class or Conquest class for me. This was my 24 cruise on Carnival. In addition the Vista does not have glass elevators in the atrium so it is a net loss of 2 elevators for a ship that holds 800-1,200 more than the Conquest or Dream class

Hey thanks for your review.. the points you have made here are important to me..so while I don't ride elevators or count bars either , public space , ease of getting a drink on the lido and pool side area is what I look for .. so thank you for that.. I will keep my eye out for other reviews .. as a whole all are trying to squeeze more rev .. so it's certainly trending that way.. I too like the conquest class ... btw

I try to weed out other comments that might have ulterior motives , like peeps in the industry who make a living off bookings .. :) again thank your
