  1. Wow are some of you ever judgmental! I hope you never make a mistake and then vent to someone about how you're treated! Bonnie admitted that she & her husband probably misunderstood, but she believed what she thought the Carnival rep told her... yes she's being made whole, and I suspect that her entire purpose in pursuing this in the first place was to get the apology, don't forget that Karen from Carnival TOLD HER to include the request for taxi refund.

I'm a terrible traveler- I plan everything out to the nth degree because I panic when things go wrong. So I understand how Bonnie felt. and to come here and be attacked the way some of you have, is just not fair! Maybe you don't agree, maybe you don't understand, but geez loueez- don't be so mean about it!!!!

To those of you who were just trying to understand, and perhaps to help, well good for you. But maybe next time try being a bit nicer to a newbie!

I haven't been on these boards for quite a while unless I'm researching a port because of the way some people act on here. Several people attacked this poor lady. Some even acted as if they deserved responses to their questions.

Personally, I think it was just a mix up for an inexperienced cruiser. She assumed what the rep was telling her was correct about the transfer the day before. (I could see my husband being completely oblivious and not doing his due diligence. Thank goodness he has me LOL) But I think the big problem came from the attitude of the supervisor. Do I think she deserved a refund for her taxi fare? No but I don't believe that Carnival is totally blameless.

Bonnie, if you come back to the these message boards, please understand that not everyone that cruises Carnival acts like the bullies on this thread. Some of us are actually very nice and helpful.

  2. Hey!!! I love NCL, the epic isn't my favourite because there's no decent promonade deck and the bathrooms are a little funky... but it is a really really lovely ship and I had a brilliant cruise on her!

Glad to hear you're going with a positive attitude, so many people are so quick to moan.

Maybe reading this will get you excited to cruise ncl: http://cruisingisntjustforoldpeople.co.uk/2016/10/08/my-favourite-10-things-about-cruising-with-ncl/ I've also got a Norwegian Epic gallery on there if you fancy seeing my holiday snaps.

    I loved it, I definitely don't think you've made a mistake!

Thank you for the link. I loved your pics.

  3. After reading all the reviews about the Epic and now I'm getting a little nervous. I hope I didn't make a mistake.

Has anyone had a good experience?

Sailing March 18, 2017 and this will be our 11th cruise. The others have been with Carnival and Royal Caribbean. After our last experience in May, we decided to try another line to see if we're burnt out on Carnival and RC or just burnt out on cruising.

I know a cruise is what you make of it and I'll go with a good attitude but hearing some positive reviews would be nice. :D

  4. Hello, I'm traveling in March on the Epic in 9001, and have been searching for pictures of the balcony as well. They are hard to find from the inside view. Luckily, there was a review written by "Annie Goes Cruising" (found under member reviews in the Epic Cruise Critic Page) that includes pictures of the balcony on cabin 11001. I believe the balcony should be similar to yours.

I'm sure we'd all love to see pictures of the balcony when you return!

I'm cruising in March as well. March 18. Are we on the same sailing?

  5. While not new to cruising, I am new to NCL. I've wanted to sail the Epic for several years now so DH and I thought why not give it a try. We got a great deal on a balcony guarantee. I should have researched more. I wasn't aware of the hull balconies on the Epic. And guess what...........that's what we got. Cabin 10004. Does anyone have pictures of this cabin? It does look like the opening is bigger than some of the other hull balconies. I was willing to take a balcony anywhere, my fault I didn't do my research. I thought a balcony is a balcony. I was going to call and upgrade but DH does not want to. He says he aren't in the room very much any way and he's right.

    Any thoughts?

  6. Hi Arubalisa, We'll be in Aruba on May 12. My DH and I will have our 2 1/2 year old grandson while my daughter and SIL do the trikes. Can you recommend an excursion or beach with calm water? We would prefer somewhere that has bathrooms, chairs, umbrella rental, etc.

    Or would tour be better?

    thanks in advance.

  7. My husband and I are buying a family cruise for us, our DD (26), SIL (27) and 2.5 year old grandson as gift to our daughter for graduating nurisng school. We are considering Oasis, Allure, FOS or the Carnival Magic for May 2016. My husband and I have cruised both lines and enjoy each equally. DD has cruised once on RC and SIL and GS have never cruised.

Can someone please explain the Royal Tots program to me? Is there a charge or is it like Camp Carnival where you can drop your kids off for camp within certain times free of charge? I think they only charge for babysitting after 10 pm. I've tried to get information on RC's website but am more confused than ever.

  8. Yes Sapphire is the one condo property where you can stay within a few steps of the water and leave your door open at night and sleep to the sound of the waves. Also a 2 minute drive to Lindqvist in one direction and Red Hook in the other. We've stayed in bldgs D and A and we like D for the location away from the swimming area and closer to the pool, C is nice too.

For the benefit of others who may be following this thread and considering visiting Sapphire in the future there have been confusing reports on the situation at Sapphire and you can learn a lot from the owners there. Since the new property management took over Dive IN has re-opened along with the restrooms, and there has been more activity. Hopefully that continues with the pool bar (and restaurant what any luck). They've been updating the condo bldg exteriors (during low season) and staff was also remodeling one of the units in bldg E when we were there last January to serve as a new office I believe. The lack of a restaurant and pool bar affect owners much more than day visitors, so don't be too concerned with reports about the restaurant being boarded-up. It has been cleaned-up and that's an older issue between the property mgt and condo ass'n and nothing to worry about.

The Banana Cabana serves a great mahi mahi sandwich for $14, and there are 2 other food and drinkl options to choose from as well as a pizza delivery from Red Hook. The restrooms are very decent for beach restrooms, and the dive center rents anything you may want.

This webcam gives folks a nice view of Sapphire from bldg C and the drone video gives you a great birds-eye view of the bay, the Sapphire Beach resort & Marina condo property (red-roofed bldgs), and the Sapphire Village condo property behind the marina. The Crystal Cove condo property is beyond the dive center by the seagrass area of the bay (blue-roofed bldgs). Ignore the date and time in the webcam, it is the current view. And notice the abundant natural shade along the shore, no other beaches offer this.

Heading to the St Thomas on the Glory in September and reading your post has helped make up my mind about Sapphire beach. That's where my group of 5 will be headed. I know that part of the beach is rocky, part sandy and part grassy. Can you direct me in best central location on the bay to set down roots for the day?

  9. We loved Irie Tours. They gave us a well informed tour with lots of fun thrown in. I wouldn't hesitate to book them again. Actually their tour made me want to do a land vacation to curaçao.

I'm so sorry that you had issues on your tour. I wouldn't be happy either. But I do urge you to give them another try. When we toured with them the buses were in great shape and the open air style was awesome picture taking.

  10. I was wondering if I could get some help or recommendations. We got a great rate at the Country Inn and Suites in Port Canaveral and the rate did not include cruise parking. Would it be better to pay the $30 per vehicle (2 vans) and then pay additional monies for 3 people to ride shuttle from hotel to the port ($8 each) or would it be better to use one of the off site park n cruise lots? If you think a park and cruise lot, do you have a list? Is there one you can recommend over the other? Is the parking secure?
  11. Does anyone know of hotels/condos in the area that offer two bedroom suites? My husband is not very keen on sharing a room. The last time we shared we had a snorer in the room with us and I think we might have slept an hour the night before our cruise.

Oh yeah....we'll be there for two nights the Sept 23-25 (if that matters :)) Thanks for the help.

  12. Karaoke is a poor excuse for entertainment. We are paying top dollar to cruise and nobody wants to hear their cruise companions trying to provide an evenings entertainment.

In most cases the everyday cruiser cannot belt out a tune.

WOW!!! So not nice or true. I find it very entertaining and courageous. I don't think I would have the nerve to get up and sing but hats off to those who do.

  13. I love Mario Badescu products. I have rosacea and was on an antibiotic and metrogel (that made my face burn when I applied it). I heard someone talking about Mario Badescu products for rosacea and I thought what do I have to loose. At the time the only place in my area that sold it was a specialty apothecary. I purchased it and haven't used prescription treatments in over 3 years. My daughter uses the products for acne and rarely has a flare up. Check out their website. The products have great reviews.

  14. As I see the thing, it should rather be something like "Human Dignity" cruise where homosexual themes, ragged clothing, vulgarity and other things like that wouldn't be considered included in "Human Rights", allowed and available without any question. You surely wouldn't mind if some of the other decent fellow passengers were Jews, Muslims or just intelligent secular people? I, being a Christian myself, wouldn’t.

I had this long drawn out reply that I was going to send but I think I'll just keep it short and sweet. I never said that I had a problem with any of the groups that you mention. Because I don't. I wouldn't mind sitting at a table with any of them and getting to know them as people not as a label. Having a group of other christians to sail with would mean opportunities for bible studies, etc.(of course anyone who wanted to come would be welcome). Not all christians are bigoted, ignorant rednecks and even though I may not agree with lifestyles etc., it doesn't mean that people(regardless of religious preference, race or sexual orientation) should not be treated with dignity and respect. All I wanted to know is if there were other christians who would like to have a group cruise thru CC. I'm not going to get into a back and forth with you on this. Apparently it is not something you would be interested in doing.

  15. Hello everyone! Sorry I haven't checked this in a while. We decided to give Royal Caribbean a try and have booked a cruise on the Freedom of the Seas for Sept 25, 2011. It's me, my DH, my BFF and her husband (a pastor) and my mom and dad (a pastor). We would love it if some other believers would join us. :D

  16. Hmmm.... Some of us don't care to be "gotten", and frankly, tips are what you make of them. I suppose in your own self importance because you don't see good use for the tip, you feel the urge to sound off about it? Of course it's optional for use when some ELSE sees fit, and ok for you to ignore. Just so happens that plenty of people on mobility scooters who get trapped in busy elevators it is truly a helpful tip. Especially with so many rude teens floating around. Also something half sick people afraid of closed in spaces appreciate once they're already feeling bad. Surely because you don't see the usefulness doesn't mean it doesn't exist to someone else.

Please feel free to find the largest audience of "other folks" as you like and lead them to all things proper on your next cruise my friend. Try not to throw rocks at the kids on chemo who don't want to share your space though. RCI often has many on "wish trips" with moderate immune systems at best. Be sure and offer your wordly wisdom on their narcacism and their non sharing attitudes.

Really???? WOW!!! So you offered the tip to help those who suffer from some type of illness or mobility issue?? So is that why you used it?? As the aunt of a 15 year old girl waiting to have her Make A Wish wish fulfilled, please make sure you don't make my niece stand and wait while you are selfishly skipping floors.
