  1. we were on Vista at the end of September and after the first port (Jamaica), there was security outside a cabin just down the hall for the rest of our 7 day cruise (5 days left) and then when we ported back in Galveston, they lead someone off the ship in handcuffs. There could have been a warrant for their arrest and when they left the ship and got back on, they had cause to arrest them.

  2. we always sail during my birthday...except this year (otherwise we would be on it now). I have received a small frosted cake with a candle on it in the MDR and the waiter and the other helpers sang me happy birthday. I have also received gift cards for a free 8X10 photo, a free bottle of wine (upto I think $24) & $50 off selected spa service from our room steward.

  3. My son cancelled his girlfriend (ex now) and it was $250 cancellation fee (prior to final payment date) He purchased insurance, so they kept $50 and the other $200 is able to be used towards a future cruise. I am booked on a cruise in April and my moms best friend decided not to go. I called Carnival and was told that since it is prior to final payment date, the cost is $50, but if after final payment date then full deposit amount ($250) would be lost.

  4. the refund will go back to the person/card that made that made the payments. We had to cancel my son's girlfriend and he had the insurance thru Carnival and he lost $50 of the $250 deposit and received the cost of the insurance ($98-if no claim was filed) towards a future cruise ($298).

  5. Just an additional note. Any future cruise credits that you may have can't be used as a deposit for a new booking. They may be applied to any future cruise that you have booked. In other words, if you don't have a future cruise already booked, you will have to pay the deposit on the new booking. The future cruise credit could then be applied towards the balance of that booking.

this is not the info that was given to me when my son cancelled his girlfriend off the booking that we sail on in 64 days. The Carnival rep told me he would need to call in to book his next cruise rather than booking online and the future cruise credit would be used towards the deposit.

  6. I have cruised 9 times and have received an upgrade call maybe 3 times. Just received and upgrade call on Sunday for my girls cruise in April. We were in a balcony room on deck 7 they offered to upgrade to a balcony room on deck 10 for $10/pp. I jumped on it.

  7. my kids got passport cards for their first cruise. The only difference between passport book and passport card is, that if something unfortunate happens while at port, such as a medical issue or miss the ship, you will not be allowed to fly off that international port.

  8. I thought all I would need would be like the booking number, my brothers name and birthday, but I needed the passengers full name birthday and the PIN number (that we never created bc we booked online). Not helpful more of a hassle!

yes, i had to verify all my sons info as well as his girlfriends info in order to link his booking with ours. Must just depend on who answers the phone.

  9. Does Carnival have a coffee card that you can purchase to get the speciality coffees, or you pay as you go, if you dont have the Cheers Packagae

they do have a punch card... it is good only on the cruise you are on an when you buy 5 you get the 6th one free (you may have to ask for this card). I buy coffee every morning. I'm not a big alcohol drinker, so this is my drink of choice. I do take my Carnival coffee tumbler, but have them give you your coffee in their regular cup as the large paper cup holds more than the tumbler. the prices are no more than what you would pay at Starbucks or any other coffee shop.

  10. We've been on many cruises with different cruise lines and often on my birthday. I don't recall ever getting even a card from the ship's staff. I've received cards via email from the company, but not on the ship.

In January, I'll be celebrating a milestone birthday. It will be interesting to see if a gift arrives. A $50 spa credit is something I would definitely use!

The spa certificate is only off certain services....not off any service. They will show you the list of services you can use it on, if you go to the spa and let them know you have a certificate.

  11. Just back from cruise over my birthday. It was noted in my cruise planner for the day I wanted it celebrated. Waiters in MDR sang to me (on the wrong night). No free gifts or coupons but I did hear on the last day that others had received gifts.

Now this is not good business practice. Be consistent or cancel the program entirely.

both years that I received a card and certificates were signed by our room steward...not from Carnival or the Cruise Director.

  12. do you have to be platinum to get birthday perks.....we are sailing during my birthday month but are 14 days from platinum?

no, you don't have to be platinum, I;m not and..... In 2016 I received a free photo, a bottle of wine ($15 and under) and a $50 off spa card. The only thing with the spa card is....it is only off certain services (not off any service), they have a list they will show you if you go to the spa desk and ask (i didn't use this one). In 2017...I received the $50 off spa service and that was it. I received a small cake in the MDR. These gifts were in a card signed by the room steward. We are on a cruise during my birthday.

  13. we have cruised on Triumph twice...the first time was a year or 2 after the fire and then again just this last September. Love this ship. I don't think it is jinxed, just normal wear and tear on machinery, could happen to a newer one as well. I would actually book again on this ship.
