I feel your pain. Almost two years ago we went to a beach there and saw this guy carrying around a rather listless monkey. Would shove a cup of water at him to wake him up. Was walking around on beach trying to get money for pictures with the poor little monkey. Monkey finally passed out. There was a vet student there who quickly swung into action. She briefly examined the monkey and fussed at the guy. She was taking him to the vet or vet school and said she thought he would have to be euthanized.

Yes, there ought to be a law but know it is just a different culture and impossible to enforce. Never forgot the little guy and hope there is a monkey heaven. He deserved it as I am sure many others as well.

Loved - absolutely loved our Victory cruise two weeks ago. We like the many ports. Nice to have one sea day.

Not sure about the liquor, but know the wines can be taken on if you get off and on more than once. When we got back on, our carry on bags were tagged and there was no way we were getting in without handing it over. We had no liquor as we had done Bon Voyage, but he inspected our wines and let us go. If we had liquor, I believe it would have been taken. So much is true when people say it is who you get. Fellow passenger said his rum runners were confiscated.

Again, great trip and we absolutely LOVED our excursion with Calabaza in Barbados. Best ever and hope you will google them.

Enjoyed our day there a couple weeks ago. Would do it again as been to Nassau several times and enjoyed clean beach to hang out. Would pay the $25.00 for the day. Would bring snacks again. Cheeseburger and fries at pool restaurant was appx $15.00. Nice people there. Definitely use the #10 jitney. We did take taxi for return as it was raining and I believe it was $15.00. Did not go to Wyndham.

Hi,:) there are at least a dozen hotels along "Duval Road" (which I

call "Airport Road";)...I know Fairfield Inn and Springhill

Suites both have airport shuttles. Now, I cannot say for sure they

have a shuttle to the ship but a cab should not been too expensive.

We also have a new mall near these hotels with lots of restaurants

and shops.

There is also a nice Hampton Inn, Hilton Garden Inn (I believe they

also both have airport shuttles), Comfort Inn, Residence Inn,

Courtyard by Marriott too.......these are just a few hotels I know

are out there:)

Just spoke with Springhill Suites yesterday. Very nice people and round trip shuttle to port is $20.00 per person. Airport shuttle no charge. Person said taxi is around $25.00 each way.

I believe the person that told you it was OK if you stayed on the ship was mistaken about the policy, Of course if its relly something you want to be sure of rather than guessing, you could always speak with a supervisor and ask just what the policy is and have them send you a copy of it.

She supposedly was a supervisor but who knows. Good idea to request policy in writing. Surely there is one. I may just do that. If I get results, I will report back.

Actually it makes perfect sense, Remember, Your mosquitoes in NY, while possibly more abundant, DO NOT carry malaria. Donating blood is a good thing and it also makes many feel good about themselves but would you feel just as good if you thought you may be passing on malaria to someone in need?

What does not make sense to me is the on the ship or standing outside the ship. Can you explain the rationale on that?

I have posted here previously but it got poofed so hopefully this one will stay. I am hoping someone can help me look at things in a different light.

I have just gotten off the phone with the American Red Cross. My year is up in October and I called to confirm. I was also told that had I stayed on the ship I would have been fine to give blood again at any time.

Can someone please explain this to me? A mosquito can bite you just as well on deck as if I am standing outside beside the ship. The rep who was just there to say her words could not explain this to me when I politely asked. I am trying to understand. I know there is greater malaria risk if I had gone way into the island. I guess I think there should be a uniform policy for the port.

There. I have vented. Can someone help me feel better about this?

Can't remember if I posted this last year or not, but want to make you aware.

If you are a blood donor, be sure to donate before you cruise. You will have to wait a year after your return before you can give again due to malaria issue.

I was so happy last year to finally do it. I am O negative and a hot commodity. ;) It really wasn't bad at all and I felt good giving something back to people that I could easily do. I asked when I was leaving how soon I could return but said I was about to cruise so it might be a month or so. They asked me where I was going and told me it would be more like a year before I could come back and noted my record. Oh well.

I loved Isla Roatan and our Victor Bodden tour and will go back again one day. Just wanted to make known the blood donation info. If you can give, do it. What if it was your family?

WHAT A GIANT SHIP!!!

I am soooo enjoying your review. Thanks for all your time to do it.

I do have one question. We are sailing on the Golden for our first Princess. We are very near the Vista Lounge. Do you have any idea how late the shows usually run? Like do they have midnight comedians and such? Wondering how late we could possibly hear noise, although we are thinking positive.

Just back from 10/2/10 cruise doing western. Balcony was absolutely fantastic. Heard a bit of noise from Lido above us, but not that much. Had white noise machine for night from Target.com ($50.00) which I use at home or fan anyway, so blocked some I am sure. Just an occasional chair scraping. Very convenient location for food and drink runs. Crew stairs next to it but never heard or saw them.

The worst part was the shimmying or how can I describe it? Have sailed aft before and never felt this. Like the normal motion, but this was different. Kind of like someone was thumping your bed and then a vibration for awhile. Mainly happened when coming into port of course, but still annoying and should be addressed in future ships.

Would I book this cabin again? Probably. I am so spoiled with a wrap now. I agree with other posters I have read that would rather have the wrap than a suite. Have had both, and would take the wrap hands down. Amazing balcony and we spent alot of time on it. View from way over here to way over there. :) Never wanted a straight aft cabin, but this gives you both views and man, they are great.

Sigh.... I just love happy endings. Now I haven't been on the tour yet, but every bit so far I have experienced with these folks has been great. And, now this!!! Don't you wish all businesses CARED about their clients?

I'm sorry to hear of those that might not have enjoyed their VB tour. In all my cruises it ranked either #1 or #2 can't decide. I would suggest that people request either Tex or Ali. We had Tex and he was so flexible. He said that he and Ali were the most requested. It really was amazing. We met his brother at the dive resort his brother worked at, we went to Tex's home as he needed to pick up something (he asked if we minded and of course we didn't) we drove right on the beach, etc.

 

I guess for those that might not get the more experienced tour guides, I would ask your tour guide at the start to suggest some places besides the resorts, etc that they might take you to to get a feel of the island

All set and booked. Requested Tex! Received confirmation. Now we just have to wait till October... :(

If the tour is half as good as the great communication we have received from Victor, we should have a wonderful trip.

We just got back today and we parked at the pier at Kahului around 5:30pm and there were still quite a few spots left open.

We try to do alot of sugar free things here lately, so I recommend Crystal Light powder or its clone. I mix Pineapple Orange and then I get Wal-mart brand (doesn't come in CL) Peach flavor. You could probably do lemonade too as you are looking for the tart flavor. I mix up the two and add coconut rum. Low carb and low calorie. This will be my first trip trying this technique so I will use half a little tub of each one in a jug with top to shake with water and will keep it in collapsable cooler to use as needed. BUT, I seem to recall in one of the foo foo drinks there was maybe a liquer or a schnapps or something added to the drink. I think it was the Fun Ship Special maybe? I guess my question is, can you suggest a good something to add to this concoction to add a little variety to it?

Also, Coconut Rum is 21% alcohol so it is lower than some of the other stuff so it is a good sipper and you can sip quite a few. Be advised, they taste SOOOO much better in a souvenir glass, well, if you choose to do something like that. I certainly never would. I have just seen it done before. Not me! No way! Nope.
