1. We are booking on Infinity in July to Alaska from Vancouver back to Vancouver

We have 2 young children. Will there be plenty of activities for them? Will we see any wild life? Do you recommend excursions or can one do tours privately?

Is this the best ship to see Alaska and wild life ? We have been told Celebrity is a more upmarket line than Royal Caribbean or Princess? Is this the case?

    Should our TA offer OBC?

We welcome comments on this . Thank you .

  2. Having gone to school in Paris and returned many, many times since my heart too is broken. I shot off a multitude of emails to friends and people I know there with condolences and the overwhelming response I received was that we will not let them change the way we live our lives. We will continue to enjoy the most beautiful city in the world. AMEN!!!!

As students we went to France nearly every summer. We loved Paris , just wandering around and eating the wonderful French food in all the little sidewalk cafes. And the view from the top of the Eiffel Tower was breathtaking. I now feel so sad to hear of what has happened in that beautiful city . My thoughts and prayers are with all those fighting for their lives and for the families who have lost loved ones

  3. As a diamond member I am upset to read all the negative comments regarding food on Seabourn especially the Sojourn. We had thought of booking a lengthy cruise later this year or early 2015 but we are having second thoughts. We have enjoyed Seabourn for many years but perhaps it is time for a change to another cruise line, perhaps Crystal. If Seabourn wants to keep loyal guests then they need to do something about these problems ASAP

  4. Can you clarify this please? Do you mean that the segments have been discounted since the ship left LA in January? We booked this cruise several months before it left LA and the price we paid here in the UK certainly didn't appear to have been subjected to 'much enormous discounting'. The fares were comparable per diem to what we paid for the Holiday cruise in 2012. If the fares have been reduced so drastically since we paid for it, I'll be making a call to my TA!

If the prices drop and you have booked through a "royal " travel agent in England you might get an upgrade but don't expect any money back. I think you do in the U.S.

  5. After 45 days on board the Sojourn WC it has not been the best SB world cruise ever to put it mildly. Quite a few bad ports, a lot of indifferent food and wine, a lot of staff not up to SB standard and now for the last two weeks no newspapers at all, the excuse being they can't get the part for the printer or anybody to fix it!!! Despite two days stop in Sydney and two days in Adelaide we are no further forward. It seems SB just don't care about their diamond members! Roll on Hong Kong!

When we were on the Quest in November--- Barcelona to Rio-- we had several days with no newspapers and the same excuse was given that the printer was broken. It was the most disappointing cruise we were ever on as there was very little to do and we had quite a few days at sea. One of the activities was needlepoint at afternoon tea! There were no dance classes and one day there was Zumba where one person attended. The cookery demonstrations were the exact ones I have seen so many times and the lectures were not very interesting

We had thought of going on the cruise to S Africa but I have read so many negative comments about Sojourn we are now having second thoughts .

  6. Formal is optional. Suit and tie is the norm although jacket and tie becoming so.

My experience is that no tie is ok particularly in warmer climes. My guess is this will become more common.

Jeans are out although some slip through. They have some jackets which I have seen provided to guests who present at MDR without one. But this is dependant on the staff to enforce.

They did, in my view, err one night when a Bermudan resident presented in Bermuda shorts, blazer and tie and they asked him to wear long trousers.

This was the "national dress" and no different to a Scot wearing a kilt, which does happen.

Seabourn staff did indeed err in asking the Bermudian to change into long trousers. The very smart Bermuda shorts in varying colours with shirt, tie , blazer and long knee socks is the traditional costume in Bermuda similar to a Scot wearing a kilt. It is worn for business and often in formal weddings. Just this week it was voted the top attire worn by the teams entering the stadium at the winter Olympics.

  7. Didn't know you were doing the crossing Audrey. Have a wonderful time and say hello to Sheena and Dan for us.

    Shelagh and Larry

Thank you Shelagh . It's great to be back after a year or so. Cruise is really good so far. Handre is such a wonderful cruise director. Hope you are both well

    Audrey and Captain Merlot

  8. Anita,

Thank you for your kind words! Hopefully the review will encourage you even more to hop on this itinerary. You really see some amazing places. I keep forgetting about the ship parts because the trip was so port-heavy.

    Joyfulness,

Thank you for the kind words! Glad that the report could get you excited about your upcoming cruise! Wish I could go again soon!

    Hi Emily

I want to thank you for an excellent review of your cruise of the British Isles. It was so informative and very well written and I loved your sense of humour.I am originally from a town called Bangor which is 12 miles from Belfast. I went to college there and worked there as well. Your review of the Titanic Exhibition was excellent and I look forward to going there next time we are in N. Ireland. Why dont you take a cruise to Bermuda and we can give you a guided tour. I feel like I know you now after reading a chapter a day of your wonderful review.

    Best wishes to you both,

    An Irish Bermudian.

  9.
Couldn't agree more--who are these SNOBS??? This is my first cruise ever and if I run across the people that have been posting about "unwashed masses" that have gotten a good deal on price as not being worthy to be in the same room with them--it may be a loooooong 7 days.
Surely there are some people that don't think like that on Seabourn--if not my husband and our traveling buddies and myself have made a bad error--but we couldn't figure out any other practical way to go to the Greek Isles other than a cruise.
Please do not be put off by comments like this. There are a few people who like to think they are high society types----and they can't even spell ! 99 % of the people on Seabourn are delightful and not at all snobbish. People who make comments like this have no class. Go and enjoy a wonderful Seabourn cruise---you wont regret it
  10. Two questions regarding referrals if I may. As a recent Seabourn sailor I've just received our referral certificates to pass on to other newbies.

First question. Am I correct that here is no disadvantage to me in passing on the referral certificate to a first time future sailor even though I don't have my next Seabourn cruise booked ? In fact, it will be a year or two away. As I read it once the person I give the referral to pays in full, I receive my obc certificate which I can use on any future cruise no matter how far away.

Second, can I as the donor apply more than one obc to the same future cruise? Seabourn has given the two of us 4 certificates.

Many thanks. These questions have probably been answered in the past but for the moment I can't find the answer.

I sent 2 referral coupons to friends. We have just returned from the world cruise and Seabourn only gave us credit for one of the coupons. So we will have to wait for our next cruise before we get credit for the other one
