I am a little disappointed because it is a 15 day Hawaii cruise and would really like our experience on the ship to be perfect...maybe I am overreacting...lol

you will be able to look down more than Deck 5, but you will have some restriction. you will not be able to see straight down and see the hull/waterline.
Thank you....a little disappointed ..

We booked a Ocean Suite on Miracle on deck 6...after looking at some YouTube postings for those cabins we noticed the lifeboats were positioned right below us. Can someone tell me if the lifeboats will obstruct our views when looking down from our balcony...

Thank you all for the info...

I have never sailed on Independence before, can you tell me what kind of shows they put on and do you need reservations for them. On the Allure you needed reservations.

Thank you everyone for all the info..very much appreciate it.

Can someone tell me about the parking garage in Miami..is it a far walk to the terminal and do you have to make a reservation for it. This will be our first time driving. Thank you

Technically, the person that takes your bag and tosses it on the cart, is only one of many people that will touch your bag before you see it at your stateroom door. The tip, that you give will actually go to the person that handles your bag the least amount of time, roughly 30 seconds. They are a union worker, and are considered longshoreman. Their average pay, is 50 times more than the average pay on the ship. With that being said, tipping is not necessary, or required.
There are many bag handlers that do deserve a tip, such as when you get off the ship, and they walk with you to your car. Or the ones that help you in the airport to your next plane because you are disabled.
Think of this. At the airport, you go check in at the counter. What does that person do with your bag? The take it off the scale, and put it on the belt to be taken away. The cruise port, the guy you give the tip to, does exactly the same thing. Do you tip the airline employee for doing it? Bet the answer is no.
I tip a lot of people for many reasons, but I also tip smartly for services I get that are beyond the service expected. That guy only puts your bag on a cart. Instead, if you see the workers on the ship that are delivering bags to your section, tip that guy instead. Now, he is really working, and for much less money!
We do tip at the airport curbside and tip everyone else we come in contact to the handles our baggage and that does include port curbside on the ship delivery of our bags as well as those handlers when we are leaving the ship we try not to exclude anyone. BTW don't piss off your port curbside handler with no or too little tip or you might be scrambling for some clothing on your cruise because your bag went missing...just saying

The OP is a New Yorker and we are accustomed to tipping well.
How true...good tip equals good service (most of the time)

I usually tip $2-3 a bag, so I think $5 a bag is plenty. :) Enjoy your cruise!
Thanks for the quick reply....its been two years since our last cruise didn't know if things changed.

Can anyone recommend the right tip for our bag handlers at the port. I am never sure if I am giving the right amount, is 5.00 a bag appropriate. I am sailing this Sunday and would appreciate some advice.

Yes, You'll be VIP for boarding but your cabin won't be ready for you unless you buy FTTF.
That's what we were wondering if we still need to purchase FTTF.. We can board early with VIP but cabin will not be ready, what about tendering is it better to have FTTF for that or will having a shore excursion planned help you get off the ship just as fast?
-
All suites are vip enjoy
Thanks so much for the quick reply!

This is our first time cruising on the Conquest can anyone tell me if my ocean suite that we booked is considered VIP when boarding. I wasn't sure if we needed to purchase FTTF...
-
On the Spirit class ships they are considered suites and when you book them they are classified under suites.
On other ships they are under balconies and are called premium vista suites.
That's where we made our mistake should have done more research on the aft wrap it was very disappointing...we really enjoy VIP boarding.

The biggest difference is the cabin and deck sizes. The VS cabin is 245sf and the balcony is 220sf. The GS cabin is 300sf with a 115sf balcony.
Here is the cabin description for 7298 the OP's cabin
Cabin 7298 VS 245/220 sq ft
Beds: twin/king-1 sofabed
View: window and wrap-around balcony connecting balconies: no
separate bedroom area; 2-TV's; telephone; 110 AC current; individual climate control; safe; hair dryer; minibar; 2 large closets; shower/whirlpool tub; walk-in dressing area with vanity table and chair; sitting area: sofa, armchair and coffee table.
This is a grand suite
Cabin 6178 GS 300/115 sq ft
Beds: twin/king
View: window and large balcony connecting balconies: yes
Features: TV; telephone; 110 AC current; individual climate control; safe; hair dryer; minibar; shower/whirlpool tub; bidet; 2 large closets; walk-in dressing area with vanity table/sink and chair; sitting area: sofa, 2-armchairs and coffee table.
Is the Vista Suite considered VIP ....when I Had a wrap around aft on the Victory it was not considered VIP and the cabin was quite small.

Always wanted to book one of these rooms and finally we did it! We booked Room 7298 on the Pride for next April. The Pride will be dry docked this Fall and have the 2.0 upgrades done. This is our first Spirit Class ship and this is our first suite, we have always had balcony rooms. Hope we can go back to a balcony room if need be?
Any input on these rooms would be appreciated.:)
Is there a difference between a grand suite and a vista suite....just curious!

Two weeks ago we flew into FLL for a cruise out of Miami, we booked a private Town car from Go Shuttle it cost us 92.00 and it was worth every penny..beautiful car and beautiful comfortable ride..
-
The ride should take 10 mins but allow 15 mins in the vent of traffic. You may also spend a few mins in the taxi line at FLL. Your fare will be under $20, likely about $15 as there is a $2 airport charge on FLL pickups.
Thank you that was exactly what I was just thinking...how much should the taxi cost and is it easy to get a taxi to the port or do we have to reserve some kind of shuttle service..when we leave from Miami we usually stay at a port hotel and the cab ride is very short and costs about $5.00.
-
Depending on the route the cab driver takes. Could be as little as 10 min port Everglades is located right next to FLL (there actually the same exit off 595)

Thank you we really had no idea we usually leave out of Miami

This will be our first cruise from Port Everglades on the Freedom, can someone tell me how long the ride is from the Fort Lauderdale airport to the port so we can plan accordingly...thanks!

How were you treated differently and by whom? Just curious.
I'll try to explain briefly, but once again it's just a personal issue...usually when we would get to our cabin (suite) the room steward was right by our door asking our names and what he could get for us and his personal times when he is available he actually treated us very special (couldn't do enough for us) this time in the aft we didn't see our room steward for the first two days we had to track him down, it was like we didn't exist. Our cabin was not made up early and was not turned down until very late. I could go on and on but I think you can see where I'm going with this.
