For a HO-HO tour, as long as you keep track of the time, I would book with the operator in advance, or just buy at the first stop. I've done both. Often there is a discount coupon online.
I, too, like dressing up, and I usually wear dress slacks with a fancy top to the specialty restaurants. "Resort casual" to the main dining rooms. I also avoid the buffet. I much prefer being waited on. Upon embarkation, my group heads straight to the main dining room that is open. We have a relaxed lunch and await the release of our rooms.
I hope you will enjoy NCL as much as I do.

I can tell you from experience , metal straws and frozen drinks are a very cold combination. I use a metal straw in my Yeti and have frozen my lips on many occasions. Also uncomfortable with hot drinks.

I went ahead and picked up a pack of silicone straws to take. But they’re definitely larger in diameter than I think I’ll like. Probably good for a frozen drink, though.
Any recommendations for a silicone straw that’s a more comparable size to a traditional one?
Thanks!
Amazon has numerous choices, many called thin.

I think I will just stick with my stainless steel rigid straw.

I am nearing platinum plus on NCL and still love the towel creatures. I'm 70 and I hope I never grow up to the point where I don't enjoy them.

Many years ago I made a living with a camera. It was frequent at weddings in particular that I’d be told “oh I’ve got a better camera than that”, at that stage I shot with three Canon AE-1s, why? Because I wanted the same camera, two with colour for film changes and one with b&w, last thing I needed was to worry about where a control was on each body, sure I could have used F-1s or something but the AEcdid the job for a lot less $$$
I used the same bodies, for the same reasons. Bought 2 in pawn shops at Ft. Knox. Wanted to have different films and interchange the lenses. Haven't touched a film camera for years. Don't miss them, but won't get rid of them.

My favorite is LeBistro. Second choice is Cagney's. Will do both on our July Jewel cruise of Alaska.

I must be super picky. I always bring my own shampoo and conditioner. I also bring a bar of Safeguard Soap for DH. HE's picky, too.

Nobody mentioned that drinking through a straw causes the same facial wrinkles as smoking. NCL is saving our faces, too! [emoji10]

Maybe because I was raised on sarcasm, I can see all but the subtlest when it’s in text form.
And I use it extensively. Mostly because punching people in the face is illegal. ;)
Love this!

Congratulations, Anita. I know you will enjoy the bag.
Marie, thank you again for your generosity. Have a happy anniversary! My DH and I are coming up on our 50th June 1. We are celebrating by ME going on an Alaska cruise and HIM staying home cat sitting. I simply could not get him interested in Alaska. A bridge playing girlfriend is going with me...along with 4 other couples. In his defense, since his broken leg in late September, his stability is off. A cruise ship is not the best place for an unstable person...mentally or physically.

Marie, so nice to hear from you. The thread goes into a coma when you leave.

I cruise sometimes with 3 different Karens. We call them K1, K2 and K3. Less confusion.

Me too! Though, I occasionally find myself doing the "so" beginning. I really dislike it when watching an interview. [emoji35]

That is where I go for exchange information; Midpoint quote.
Mike
Thanks, I would have asked “Alexa”, but wasn’t sure of wordage. Singapore dollar? Just curiosity, as I have no plans for that cruise in the near future.

Can you do a USD-SGD conversion for us?
Nice review so far. Take care of the Jewel...I’ll be cruising on her in Alaska in July. [emoji1]

My DH always calls it a boat, because he knows how to push my buttons. I tell him, it is a ship, the boat is what you get on if the ship sinks.

LeBistro is our favorite! I love that they have escargot and DH likes their wild mushroom soup.

Kim, great review, as always! Did you ever figure out what Sakari's chest pain was? Reflux?
Also, you briefly mentioned you were reconsidering the art school thing. Would you mind elaborating?

Having a whole lobster, and having our waiter disassemble it (remove it from the shell) at our table.

I/we have cruised on the Jewel several times...mostly because it was going where we wanted to go, but, just as importantly, because we love the ship. We have cruised a couple of the mega ships, but really like the jewel class. We have done the Panama canal full transit on the Jewel, and it was very high on our favorites list. Another alternative is Pride of America in Hawaii. Smaller size ship, and the best way to get a taste of Hawaii.

Probably not, though sometimes while in port. It used to be easy to get it done. Not so much now. Good luck.
