  1. It is not necessary to purchastr a coffee card just to have a cup of Lipton Tea.  That is available in the Lido Deck all day long.

The Coffee Card purchase on a cruise is for fresh brewed coffee for that cruise only and they do not punch the card. Usually the cruise is written on the card.  After that card only specialty drinks, like lattes etc are good for future cruises and they punch the card.  I have 3 partically punched cards.  We have a cruise booked Oct.  If they do not except them for punched specialty drinks oh well.  The Royal class ships, Royal, Regal, Majestic have fresh ground coffee, so  card not necessary.  The other Princess ships use the coffee syrup, (whatever definition us want to use, unsweetened of course) That is why we purchase the cards.  We would even use them at breakfast in the dining room.  Give them to the waiter for the good coffee.  In the morning for room service we would order hot milk for the non-Royal class ships so the coffee tasted better.

And oh yes, we drink alcohol.  That's another story....

1 more Princess cruise and I will be Elite.

I wonder why Princess is doing away with the Coffee Cards???

  2. Just got off of the Royal Princess, in fact the cruise after we got off was the one where two seaplanes collided.  Sad.

Not aware of loading onto Seapass???

The Royal Princess is a Medallion Class ship  now and everything is about this little round Medallion.  Even unlocks our doors.  So not used to using a 'Seapass"

  3. I just got off of the Royal Princess.  Royal Class ships do not use coffee syrup.  It is all fresh brewed.  Even a grinder to do your own in buffet area.  I still have cards that the International Café did punch for Specialty Drinks we ordered.  Saving coffee cards to use on other Princess Ships in the future that are not Royal Class. Fresh brewed on other ships is for the current cruise only, the punches are for specialty coffees.

  4. Wait.....you're losing the First AND Last day of your cruise by sitting in the Port of LA??

    YIKES!!

Just the Sea Day. Instead of Santa Barbara, Sea Day, Ensenada,

we did Santa Barbara, Ensenada (where it poured) then a day docked at San Pedro. For those not living in California they could do California excursions, we just stayed on ship and pretended we were at sea. No casino or shops on ship.

    All closed.

  5. We enjoy a drink and a snack in the Elite lounge about 5/6pm but next time we will be with a couple who are first time cruisers, will they be able to join us ?

Yes we have never had a problem on 3 separate cruisers at Skywalkers.

  6. I ended up taking photos of the wine list in the Platinum/Elite/Suite disembarkation lounge while waiting for our group to be called. We brought our own wine on board and didn't buy any off the wine list.

With the increase in low end wine prices there are only 2 reds at $27, 3 reds at $28 and 7 reds at $29. It is good that with the Silver package you can pay the difference to get wines greater than $29. With the price increases it is usually better for us to bring wine on board and pay the $15 corkage rather than buy on board. Of course we drink wines that are under $35 on the Princess wine list.

Sent from my iPad using Forums mobile app

But we can only bring one bottle on board???

I was on a Carnival where a case was broad (a group) and they paid corkage fee on each bottle. But if Princess only lets us bring on one??

I'm sailing Feb 2016 just planning ahead.

  7. If you read the first and last part of my review under PRINCESS, http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=1435396 you will see pictures of PIER 91There are no restaurants anywhere near the port and really nothing to see. We left our hotel at 10:30am for Pier 91. We used SHUTTLE EXPRESS to get us to the Pier.

Get off the plane and then grab a cup of coffee or bagle BEFORE you go through security, get your luggage. Your luggage will be waiting for you at baggage claim. Go to your mode of transporation you select. We had to get a luggage cart and go over to the parking garage to get our ride on SHUTTLE EXPRESS. Try to get to the pier no earlier than 10:30. By 9:30 which is when we left the pier after our cruise, there were still lots of people at the pier leaving. The ride from the airport to the pier can vary.. about 20-30 minutes.

If you like to people watch, you can be at the pier early and have a good time watching everyone....

There is a restaurant a short cab ride over. We dropped our luggage off at the ship, then met my family who lives in WA for a very nice long lunch then back to the ship. I found it on Google map,

Palisade ,Elliott Bay Marina, 2601 West Marina Place, Seattle, WA 98199

It's actually a long walk. I'm doing it again this year. We didn't go into the top level expensive restaurant, the lower level faces the water. Burgers etc. Hate to pay for lunch when you are getting on a ship, but it was sort of a family reunion with lots of siblings.
