  1. We had water in our cabin due to rain and ship listing.  We wereon caribe deck on emerald. Princess was on it right away At least 10 or more cabins were affected.  Our cabin steward, cristina was great. brought us lots of pool towels. They ended up replacing all the padding in cabins and hallway.  We survived, just walked barefoot.  BUT princess reimbursed the six days of cruise, at first. THen someone must have grumped and we were reimbursed more future cruise credit. Our next cruise is costing u $245 SOO what I am saying is speak your mind!! Cruises cost alot of money and you should complain and get reimbursed to some point.

In the description of the tour it says: "Travel by ship's tender to the Gatun Yacht Club..." which means the ship will be in Gatun Lake and will have transited through the Agua Clara locks.

Thank you, exact answer I was looking for. Do you know if after excursion, ship goes through locks again on way back to Fort Lauderdale?

  3. We are on the Emerald princess in November.  It only does a partial transit through the new locks. Wanted to experience old locks as well.  When I look at times in port excursions are confusing.  Do they take you off the ship before it goes throught the new locks?  Then after your excursions (choosing one going through old locks on a tour boat)  You get back on ship.  BUT THEN, does the ship go back through the new locks? on its way back to Fort Lauderdale? Any help is greatly appreciated.  Really want to go through locks on ship, but also want to do old locks.

Here is a clip of a screen shot for the Nov. 24 partial transit cruise on the Emerald.  As I noted above if you try to book it online and are unable to, get to the excursion desk ASAP after boarding and try to reserve it.

Am i Correct,  this tour you get on BEFORE the ship goes through the new locks?  BUT after the tour and back on ship, does it go through the locks again to go back to ft. Lauderdale?  This tour looks great, but also was looking forward to going through locks on ship.

Hi. The schedule worked out just about what is in the brochure!  On day 1, Fairbanks, I took the 6PM shuttle to Chena Hot Springs.  I took the 10PM shuttle back to the resort.  I booked everything in advance through Chena Hot Springs resort. On Day 2, our guide and driver (Autumn and Chris) added a stop at North Pole because so many had asked about it.  They also stopped at Walmart so we could pick up provisions!  We were back in time to have another excursion. I didn’t have one booked. I had drinks with some new friends and then dinner and went to bed!

in Denali, I booked Denali Jeep excursion for 6PM pick up. Second night I booked Horse drawn covered wagon and dinner for 6:15 pickup. There was plenty of time for both.

In Talkeetna, I booked Mahays Jet boat for 6 PM pick up.  I felt a little rushed to try to grab dinner and enjoy the views of Denali, so if you can get a later time for your planned excursion then think about that. I hope you have an amazing trip!! Mine is nearly over and it was the best trip I have ever been on!!

You are the best!! Thank you so much for this info.  We get in late the first night in Fairbanks, but Could do the hot springs the second night?  I Think we may try to book the jet boat too. Did they pick up from hotel?  Looks like you had good weather tool  Can't wait for our trip.  Thankyou again!!

Hi everyone. For those who have done the NCL Land Tours, I am wondering how accurate the schedule is that NCL sends out in the Alaska Cruise Tours brochure? I am taking the Denali Talkeetna Explorer land tour first, then the SB cruise on the Jewel.  I am exploring additional sightseeing opportunities at each of our stops along the way (Fairbanks, Denali & Talkeetna) to Seward.

I want to book some things in advance but am hesitating around the schedule, especially where I have to book exact tour times or pick up times. I am exploring transportation options too.

Fairbanks example, Chena Hot Springs and North Pole Alaska, and squeezing both in, one after arriving on Day 1, and the other after day 2 scheduled activities. My flight lands around 2:30PM Day 1, and our Scheduled Tours return to the Hotel 4PM Day 2. Both days puts me at an evening schedule to do other things.

I am realistic in that I want to plan as much as possible but know in reality that I may not fit everything in!

Any experience would be greatly appreciated!

    Thanks in advance!!

    Debbie

We are on this same tour the end of August.  If you can, and don't mind, could you let us know what you ended up doing for the unplanned time on the tours. It would be very much appreciated. Hope you are having a fabulous time!!

This has to be about the 4th time they sent it after the original was sent. Every time I get one of these e-mails, I have a sinking feeling in my stomach that the flights have changed. Will we have to get new seats this late? Will we have to let the new flight know we want vegetarian meals? And every time is exactly the same.

BTW, our flight out to the cruise is tomorrow.

Check to make sure your seats have not changed.  I read that somewhere else that is why it happened to someone else.

hi everyone!,  after 25 cruises, mostly to warmer climates, we are ready to try Alaska.  Just wondering since the late spring/summer is in season, has anyone cruised in October and enjoyed it.  I know its cold, but is it perhaps rainy as well?  Prices on the Encore are incredibly cheap, then theres the free airfare for 2nd person, but I am not sure if I can trust NCL not to put us on a multi stop flight from NYC.   Any imput is appreciated!   thx

Not sure about weather, but wanted to comment on air.  We are also near NYC,  we are going to alaska land tour first then cruise.  We did NCL air. We have a flight out of Newark with one stop in chicago then to fairbanks on the way there  Then on the way home a direct flight from Vancouver.  Not bad times eitherl

  9. We cruised POA a number of years ago.  When I walked into the balcony room i was a little shccked at how small it was.  In the end this was probably one of the best cruised we have ever been on. THe itinerary was the best!!! All the staff on the ship were great too!!  The ship was  a little run down, but that had no negatie effect on our cruise and since has been through drydock.  This really was the best way to tour Hawaii!!!

Yes, Premier Alaska Travels is the company that NCL hires to do it's land tours. The day we started there was our tour plus the ones for the Encore and Bliss. We were all at the same hotel so they simply loaded our bags onto a bus and when they had 11-12 people they ran us over to the hotel and dropped us off. We had a total of 80 people doing the Authentic Alaska tour so they split us into two groups each with our own guide. The folks from the Bliss and Encore had their own guides and drivers. We were lucky as our group only had 27 people so the bus was not crowded.

    Thank you!!!

We just completed a land first cruisetour and had people arriving in Fairbanks well after midnight. They were met at the airport and given a ride to the hotel, they missed the inital orientation from the guide, they also had to be up and going by 6:00AM for bag pull. They eventually caught up on their sleep. And BTW they were from NY.

We are doing the land tour first too. Starting in Fairbanks. How did you find the transfers in the airport after landing. Was it easy?

I will be on the same tour leaving 7/26.  I just got my edocs today.  We are booked into the Bear Lodge in Fairbanks (2 nights); Denali Bluffs in Denali (2 nights); Talkeetna Alaskan Lodge in Talkeetna (1 night).  I didn't get my edocs until today. I requested an updated confirmation last week after the 21 day online check-in and it had the hotel names on it.  Prior to that, NCL had sent me a Cruise Tour brochure which had a good amount of information on all of the land tours. This is likely the same AK brochure bonvoyagie refers to.

Thank you for your answer.  I never got a brochure, but found it on line, so at least I know the basic times. Have a great trip!!
