  1. I agree that traveling with others can be stressful at times because people have different personalities and ideas of how they want to vacation! We prefer to vacation alone (ie. me, dh, and 2 kids) and that's enough. This year we passed up a group trip to an AI in Mexico and decided to cruise only our family to the southern caribbean for spring break.

Looking forward to reading your review.

Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I337 using Forums mobile app

Yes, I think my roommate and I just hadn't communicated enough before the cruise. Most likely, we each saw a very different cruise when we were picturing how it would go. I thought we were on the same page, but I was mistaken  Oh well, I still had a pretty good time, even if it didn't go as I wanted it to.

I wish they had aft spa balconies, I would jump on one in a heartbeat! I can't wait to read your review, thanks for taking the time to put it together!

I wish they had spa aft balconies too! That would be ideal!!! I hope you enjoy reading!

  2. I loved reading your blog, thanks so much for writing! You sound like a lot of fun to cruise with, so sorry about your roommate and neighbors :( Glad you made some friends and made the best of your situation. The spa looks amazing....I think I need to make it up there in March on my cruise!!

I AM fun to cruise with!!! (at least I think so ;) )

Yes, you should definitely try to get up to the spa if you have a cruise coming up on a ship with a Cloud 9 Spa. I think they offer day passes if you don't want to buy the package for the entire cruise.

I just read your entire review. I am so sorry you had "neighbor" and roommate issues. I really hope you get to cruise wit your new found friends.

I am super jealous of your spa cabin and it really makes me want to book one, although they don't have aft ones. :( I am glad you needed up making the best of your cruise!

Thanks for reading my review! The ship and the islands were nice, even though my travel companions weren't :D

I do hope I will get to see Phyllis and Myron again, it would be so much fun to cruise with them again!

  3. Andrea,

My lovely wife will have you to thank because I just upgraded to the Spa category stateroom. I know both of us will enjoy the ammenities:cool:. In addition, I enjoyed your review.

OOOHHH! I'm so happy for you and your wife! I hope you love the Cloud 9 Spa!!! I'm glad you enjoyed my review, thanks for reading :)

Really enjoying your blog. Sorry you had roommate issues. I can relate; I took a cruise way back when with a co-worker. Long story short, she ended up having to get off the ship in Nassau, and the ship wouldn't let her back on board. I continued the cruise alone - a much happier camper. :)

I would love to hear why your co-worker/roommate had to get off the ship and then couldn't get back on. Sounds interesting :D

I'm glad you were able to enjoy the rest of your cruise :) Thanks for reading!

  4. Thanks for the great review! I'm sorry you had roommate issues, but sounds like you found some really fun people to hang out with.

This makes me want to cruise in a Spa room!

I really did find some fun people to spend some time with :) The spa cabin was great, I would definitely book another Cloud 9 spa cabin! Thanks so much for reading!

I just finished reading your whole review on your blog and really enjoyed it. It's just a shame that your "roommate" and "neighbors" had such attitude. So glad that you met Phyllis & Myron and Jen & Bob and that you had a nice time with them. We took our fifth Carnival cruise on Liberty last April and it was just DH and I, as it has been the past three cruises. Even with it just being us, there was one day for about an hour DH was in a "mood" (Roatan, belive it or not). I realize he was hot, tired, hungry & thirsty and so was I. After getting back on Liberty & once he had a full stomach and a DOD in him, his mood got much better. We'd been on earlier cruises with DH's family. The second one, on Miracle, was fine but the one on Royal Caribbean was very awkward for me because DH and certain members of his family snapped at me, for no good reason, more than once and when I was reading your review, I was totally able to relate. One of those times was over me wanting to purchase a $7.00 5x7 photo of DH and I to give to my parents as a gift. He told me to give them a copy of one of the pictures I had of us from my camera and that no picture was worth $7.00. The photo I wanted to purchase was a good picture of both of us from a formal night. Within a minute, I had two of his family members chiming in with him and snapping at me as well. Well, I bought that picture and gave it to my parents and they still have it framed. It was a nice cruise, I really enjoyed the ports we visited (Mexican Riviera) and several other passengers that we saw every day, but I could not wait to get off the ship and get home.

We've been thinking about trying to cruise with some of our friends, but lately we've hesitated and mainly for the same reasons. We all get along, but we all have different interests and have decided it's probably best for us to cruise by ourselves. As INCHARGE mentioned, I'm sure this happens a lot more than many realize.

I don't know if I've ever commented on your past reviews or not, but I have read and really enjoyed them and your beautiful pictures and I want to thank you for taking the time to do them.

It sure is no fun when someone you are with isn't in a very good mood. I'm glad your DH was able to feel better with some food and a DOD. Unfortunately, my roommate and the neighbors weren't so easy to comfort ;)

I'm glad you bought that pic for your parents! I honestly don't think $7.00 is a bad price for a photo if you like it (especially for a gift for your parents!).

Thanks for reading my review, and thanks for your kind comments :)

  5. I am enjoying your blog so much! I don't sleep well at night, and whenever I wake up, I go back to your blog. I feel like I am there. Thank You

OMG! I am getting to the part where everybody started acting funky! I'm glad you met Phyllis and Myron. I can not imagine being around people who you never knew what kind of mood they were going to be in. Then I thought, there are probably more stories like yours than anyone realizes. You just told it. I am starting Day 6 now. I love the detailed report, even if some of it is of travel companion issues. I am taking my time with your blog.

Sorry to hear you aren't sleeping well :( but I'm glad I could entertain you with my review!

Yes, Phyllis and Myron were just awesome. They are good people, and I felt very comfortable with them from the first night I met them.

I'm sure there are more stories like mine. The two women I met in the casino were having roommate issues. Their roommate was depressed and wouldn't leave their cabin to enjoy her cruise. I guess some people just have issues so big that they can't put them aside, even for a vacation.

Thanks for reading my review! I'm glad you enjoyed it :)

  6. Welcome back, sorry to hear about your room mate issues

HEY!!! How are you!! I'm glad you saw my review :)

I think of you guys all the time when I look at my Carnival Victory ship on a stick that you so kindly gifted me last year. It's proudly displayed on a shelf next to my new Magic ship on a stick, and they are my favorite souvenirs from my cruises! Thanks again!

And thanks for reading my review! Sorry it took me so long to reply, I was sick with that awful cold/flu hybrid thing and I'm just now feeling back to normal.

    Take care!!

  7. I just posted a review of my 7 day cruise on the Carnival Magic on my blog. I didn't visit the same islands you will visit, but there is a lot of good info about the ship in my review. I also posted a tour of the Carnival Magic ship.

Here is the link to my review of my cruise:

    Enjoy!! :)

  8. Hi!!! I'm back again with another of my long, detailed cruise reviews --- this time I cruised on the Carnival Magic out of the Port of Galveston.

I took the 7 day cruise to Roatan Honduras, Belize and Cozumel Mexico. The cruise was November 30, 2014.

The cruise and the ship were fabulous, but I ran into quite a bit of roommate troubles on this cruise............well, it wasn't just my roommate................I really didn't get along with any of the people I cruised with this time (and this was a first for me! I always get along great with everyone!)

Read along and find out what happened ;)

Because I honestly don't have time to post the entire review and the hundreds of pictures that go along with it, please follow the link to my blog to read my review:

    http://emptynestinthemidwest.blogspot.com/2014/12/carnival-magic-cruise-day-1-friday-nov.html

While you are there, you can read my past reviews from my honeymoon back2back cruise on the Destiny and my awesome Caribbean back2back cruise on the Victory (see links to both of these reviews below in my signature).

    HAPPY READING!!!

  9. Was just on the Conquest last week, and miraculously awake when we arrived back in port in Miami at 6am. I saw the lady dancing on the hotel as I was standing on our balcony on the ship, and was amazed that she was still dancing that early in the morning (or perhaps she was up all night?)

Things like this make Miami seem so cool, and hip.

I have a feeling she was up all night dancing ;)

  10. Thanks for sharing your awesome review. It was so fun to read the entire thing. It really felt like I was on the trip. Your writing style is so friendly and fun, and you provide so much detail! I was as sad as you about it being over. :)

You know why you kept having little positive surprises like the bobsled ride, the room upgrade, the limo when you expected a town car, etc? It's because everything about you is positive and fun! That's infectious and clearly people wanted to give something back to you!

Thanks again for writing all of this and sharing the pics. I hope to share a cruise with you someday!

    Sherry

Thank you so much for your kind comments, you made me smile :)

I really do enjoy the little things in life and I try not to sweat the small stuff. I'm looking for ward to another cruise on the Carnival Magic this November, and I will definitely write another review. :)

  11. Just finished reading your great review and hope there will be more in the future. We have another cruise booked for April of 2015 on the liberty but now we are also considering booking another cruise for 2016 so we can go back to Half Moon Cay and St. Thomas, Grand Turk, and Puerto Rico. I'm curious what the price is of the cabana's in HMC? Oh and one question, didn't they have your Sail $ Sign information right there on your TV in your cabin each day? Thanks for this review.

Sorry, I didn't see your post earlier................

The cabanas on Half Moon Cay were $220.00 each? Might have been $230.?? I cant remember exactly. It was well worth the price to us. I have had a cabana both times I have been to HMC and I loved them both times.

On the Victory, we did not have our S&S info available on the TV. Maybe they will make that upgrade soon.

  12. I cannot tell you when I have read a review that has been fact filled with awesome pictures that has been so upbeat and no negativity. It was so refreshing and I felt that I was right there with you and I am not even scheduled for a cruise on that ship, I cannot tell you why I read your review but when I started I could not stop even tho your cruise was months ago it was a very good read. Thank you for writing it.

We are scheduled for the Dream in June.;)

I sure do appreciate your kind compliments! Thank you :)

Loved the review and photos. Tanks for posting!!!

Thanks! I'm glad you liked it :)

  13. I am really enjoying your review. I know what goes into making a good review as I tried it myself once and thank you for taking all of the time and effort to do this. We leave on the Dream in just 30 days with 5 other family members on there very first cruise. Been counting down since day 511 and I couldn't tell you how excited everyone is. Thanks. Subscribed!

You have been waiting 511 days for this cruise??!! All that waiting and counting down makes it more exciting now that it's finally getting close! I'm so excited for you!

The Dream sounds awesome :) Have fun!!!

Thanks for your kind compliments on my review. I'm glad you enjoyed reading it

  14. yea it is easy to remember us, my husband was the ship goofball, LOL

we are looking into the breeze, but it is so new and a little pricey, lol

Looking at all your pics made me crave another cruise, :(

Were you and your husband doing karaoke in the Red and Black lounge (bar)? Christina just told me she thinks we saw you guys in there too (she has a much better memory than I do) :)

  15. Hello Mountain Breeze.. My Husband and I was on your Carnival Victory cruise, he is the one that took the blurry pic of you all and Shane, lol he is also in the pc talking to Shane that you took :) I love catching up with fellow cruisers.. I still keep in touch with Shane, he is on the Carnival Splendor now.. I miss him.. !:)

Hi There! Good to hear from you, I REMEMBER YOU!!!:)

Good to hear you are in touch with Shane, that is nice. I hope he's doing well, he was such a sweet guy! (I miss him too!) Maybe someday I'll see him again on one of these other ships

  16. I think that you should try the Sunshine in August. No kids this timie. Celebrating 10 years.

But I will admit, that was a good trip,

HI! Good to hear from you guys again! The Sunshine in August sounds great, I have been wanting to go on the Sunshine. I really loved the Destiny and I am anxious to see how it's changed.

Unfortunately, I think I am booking the Magic for November. If I don't happen to end up doing this Magic cruise, I would love to do the Sunshine in August though so I'll keep that in mind. :)

  17. Surprising my girlfriend with a cruise for her birthday next year. I'm looking to booking our tickets by the weekend and would LOVE to get some help with picking a room. Has anyone sailed on this one? Ive done some searching, but most of the info is old and the input from people are all over the place. Any help is GREATLY appreciated.

I would love to get a room with a balcony, but also with some privacy away from the noise. If not a balcony suggestion, at least a room with a window... thanks!

I would like to suggest cabin 8428

It's an "aft-wrap" cabin with an extra huge balcony. When you book it, it's called a "Premium Vista Balcony" I think. It's in the back corner of the ship on deck 8. I stayed in this cabin in September for 10 days and I just loved it. It's very convenient to get up to the Lido deck, also there is a bar directly above that cabin. The cabin was the perfect size for 2 people, and the balcony was glorious!! We were away from noise in the hallways, and there was no noise coming from the Lido Deck above us. It was perfect!

You can see pics of the cabin in my trip report

    http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=1919032

The pics of the cabin are on page 4 of my review
