I just called! They said to call back 4 days in advance, it's only $40 per person!

Please come back and let us know how it was, if you end up going. I am back in Bermuda on the 12-13 of September.

The pricing is high likely  because they want to limit the amount of day passes. They need to take care of their resort guests.  Recent reports have been that most of the summer reservations this year have been canceled at the last minute do to lack of staff.

It worked, there were two cruise ships in port, both at capacity, and the two of us were the only ones there on a day pass. The only ones who ate lunch, only ones in the pool, only ones at the bar, which was $60 every time we stepped up to it. I cant imagine they are going to be able to survive too long.

  3. Hello - I have used their resort pass a number of times over the years, it USED to be worth it, was like $35pp and included lunch, which was worth every bit of the $35. June of 22 it was $110pp. No longer worth it in my opinion. They USED to have a pretty unique terraced beach area with chairs/umbrellas/tables and active beach service from the bar. I am guessing a hurricane wiped out the terraces, no more sand, just construction debris. A few umbrellas and chairs are left but you are on your own to set them up. I was there for a full day and never seen any waiters on the beach. Lunch was, and still is, excellent and they have a really nice freshwater pool. The drinks are very, very expensive, like most of Bermuda, but Coco is at the highest end. Unfortunately they have just priced themselves out, the price went up and the value went down.

  4. My partner and I have been on the Anthem a few times now, back again in about 40 days, you can never tell from cruise to cruise who will be there, or if they want to interact. The ship started the get together in the wine bar, it was a bit too stuffy for our kind of loud, and occasionally inappropriate crowd, so we moved it to the Bionic Bar, which was OK, definitely not private. Occasionally some of the command officers stopped by, or the directors staff. Several nights the party went downstairs to the Music Hall bar, where it would stay until they kicked us out. If its not on the bulletin board, make your own, if the "standard" ship one is there, go early in the cruise, write your own and cover it up. Make your own party. I have never felt out of place on a cruise ship, probably one of the more accepting places on the planet.

  5. This was a guided tour to start, then they cut you loose and you can have some free time.

They didn't go to the newer (waterslide) buildings or the newer waterpark, they stopped, looked at it, told you about it, then moved on. With the exception of the aquarium areas, they mostly took you to the public part anyway.

You heard a lot about their history and seen all the older buildings and amenities. I guess it was borderline worth the $49 charge PP, actually after having seen the grounds I did see, it really eliminated any desire I ever had to go there. So maybe that tour saved me thousands!

I do wish I had brought my bathing suit however, as you were right on their very nice beach (free anyway, but it was right there).

  6. Just recently hoped off the Grandeur of the Seas after a 5 day Baltimore to Bermuda. The short time never lends itself to a successful FOD get together. When we got on there was already a sign card on the community bulletin board, most likely from the last cruise as we were on the ship pretty early. Viking Lounge 10pm, we didn't make up a new one. The Viking Lounge becomes the "nightclub" at 10pm also, probably wouldn't have been the place I would have chosen. We did stop up the first night, wandered around, maybe one other FOD person there, not sure, then we left. Never went as a couple again at 10pm, although the BF had gone to the "nightclub" later a couple nights.

We did meet 2 other couples on the ship, neither have or had attended a FOD get together. Is the FOD get together dead? probably not yet, but it is on life support, too bad. Anthem is next, I posted on the GLBT roll call 7 months ago, to date, not one response.

  7. So it looks like the FOD meet up will consist of exactly 2 people. That's ok, we make our own fun interacting with imaginary friends and inanimate objects.

25 days away. 50 people have looked at my original post. Not likely that anyone is looking to book a cruise based on a roll call. So these 50 are either on my cruise (yes my cruise because apparently you are not going:D) or possibly stalking the Grandeur in my title.

  8. You are right in that this has been majorly discussed. There is an active thread about the FOD meetings going on right now.

I was on Anthem in December, for 7 days, 6 of them had a LGBT get together listed right in the cruise compass with a time and location. The only night that didn't have one listed was the night of the Quest, because all of us silly queers were there doing weird things.

The more important questions is, who goes? This varies from sailing to sailing. My BF is EXtremely outgoing, so his personal mission is to heard all the gays on the ship to that location. He even gets crew and command staff there.

I have seen the gathering with as little as one and as many as 14. Depends on the sailing.

  9. Pringles for that salt craving, and because I always want them after seeing them in the gift shop, but refuse to pay like 6 dollars for a "snack" sized can. I want to walk around with my full sized can and make people stare.

Sometimes nuts, pistachios are my nut of choice, and I prefer to shell my own, much to the horror of the room cleaner, sorry.

Finally, as others have said, anything chocolate, Royal uses heavy cocoa in their baking and calls it chocolate, you are not fooling me, nope. I will continue to suggest that Hersheys starts their own cruise line, just think of the possibilities.

  10. My partner and I are booked on this cruise. There is a gay themed group going at the same time called Bermuda Bash, but we did not book though them, just on our own. I would assume that there would be some amount of gay clientele on the ship. If so, what is everyone doing in Bermuda?

The time in Bermuda is not the most ideal 1pm until 2:30pm the next, kind of makes it hard to do anything either day.

  11. Absolutely go to the Quest. If you don't plan to actively participate, which is fine, many are just there for the show, your rainbow colored undies probably wont be showing. My partner goes to great lengths to be the captain of our section everytime, and by the time the Quest comes around, which is usually later in the cruise, there are not too many people on the entire ship that do not know him by name and know that he is gayer than a $3 bill.
