Sorry for the long delay in replying. I just wanted to thank everyone for the wonderful advice and all the website links you provided. They were very helpful and gave us lots of useful information about the glacier excursion in Juneau and all the other excursions for the other ports of call!

We have decided to go with the extended glacier trek instead of Mendenhall and just signed up for it last night! I can't wait! Thanks again.

Hi, I'm responding to my own post so it will show up in the more recent discussions. We really need help picking which of these excursions to do. Please help and give feedback. Especially if you did the glacier hike with rappelling if you know which glacier it goes to. This is a one time trip to Alaska and we want to take the best excursion.

Hi, we are looking at doing the extended helicopter glacier trek shore excursion in Juneau, Alaska. This is the excursion that is 6 hours long with 4 hours of hiking with climbing ice walls and winding through narrow ice tunnels. Does anyone know what glacier this excursion goes to? It does not say. All the books and videos talk about Mendenhall Glacier and we don't know if it would be better for us to do the helicopter excursion tour to Mendenhall even though you only get to walk about for 20 minutes on the glacier. Or does the extended helicopter tour go to Mendenhall Glacier? We are active adventurous people types and generally do the high activity excursions.
