  1. On the subject of intercruises last time we used these you could really tell they were cutting corners to save themselves ££. Numerous feeder coaches instead of the old days when they just got passengers from A to B asap. Going 50 minutes off course for drop offs to save the need of providing a different bus etc.

I can see why they do it but people with mobility issues or families don’t want to be dragged on and off buses numerous times. When faced with a 8 hour journey people dont want to have to go 15 miles off the A1 as they cant be bothered to provide an additional bus to drop off in Leeds City Centre etc.

They were also massively disorganised in the dock at Southampton. No one seemed to know what they were doing.

Hopefully that was a one off!

  2. As always, a few people always push their luck and spoil it for everyone. To be honest P&Os stance on this was always going to change at some point especially in view of the scandalous ££ charged by their competitors for booze.

Its always nice to grab a bottle or two of fancy lager for the sail out whilst ashore but it is what it is.

  3. Noisy, running wild around the ship, pressing all the lift buttons etc, etc.

P&O recognise people want peace and quiet away from kids thats why they have adult only ships.

Dont want to hijack or derail a very valid thread but I’m sure this has been said before:

Most of the very rude, ignorant behavior I’ve seen on cruises tends to be from those 65+

  4. At least be honest. They have started charging for room service.

Dont lie and email all customers about a great new menu briefly mentioning "most" items carry a charge.

That said, the amount of food that gets wasted on cruises it doesnt shock me that something ended up giving...

  5. Not that rumour again. This has been going the rounds for over 10 years.

It's the Alladin's cave that gives it away.

Why do people do it do you think? Boredom? Do they get a kick of seeing how far the story goes? Do they get kick out of seeing other passengers reactions?

  6. Definitely not for keeps. There is usually a notice in your cabin to the effect that you can buy them (new ones) if you would like to. The ones supplied in any event can in some instances be well worn! I wouldn't want to take them home.

    Thanks for clarifying :-)

  7. Who said customer services hadn't been approached any why do you think I need to explain the circumstances on here?

I asked a question, got an answer and Thankyou very much for that.

Not sure the comment about first time cruisers was warranted. Sometimes you don't have to add anything to a thread if you really have nothing to contribute but guess some people can't help themselves.

I can tell just what kind of person this is...

  8. My goodness first time and they wish to complain to the top man.............

Its the modern way sadly. Complain as loud and rudely and ferociously as you can in the hope of getting your own way/discount/moneyback/freebies etc.

It really doesn't sit well with me to the point it actually turns me off complaining even when I DO have legitimate concearns about things.

  9. This might be worth a bump. In the last few months the Islamic state have secured a presence not only in Sirte (a port City in Libya which is directly in the med & not a million miles from Malta/Italy) but more importantly in Sinai which is land belonging to Egypt & very close to the Suez canal itself.

I do appreciate extra measures that cruiselines take but we are dealing with extremists who now have access to long range modern weapons & who are happy commiting suicide if it means killing people of other religions at the same time.

I personally feel it is only a matter of time before there is an incident involving a cruise ship.

  10. Compare this to RCIs stance on alcohol, not only can't you take your own on; it's about £5 for a bottle of lager onboard & £20+ for the cheapest wine

Makes for a fairly tee-total cruise!! I don't mind paying over the odds but I hate having my eyes taken out.

  11. I also don't understand why you would have the auto tip removed and then tip the stewards and waiters. Five pounds per person per day is £140 for a couple on a 14 night cruise. So you tip the steward and waiters £70 each. You might as well leave the auto tip on and if you want to tip more hand them some cash

I can only think of three reasons for removing the auto tip. Either you are going to tip less, not at all or you like the 'master servant' feeling as the lowly peasant thanks you profusely for the cash you hand them, whilst cursing that they will have to hand the money into the pool anyway so why didn't the idiot passengers just leave the auto tip on.

    Utter tosh

  12. You could also do what my wife does. She goes up to the gym and fills her sports bottle with he cold water from their chiller. Just make sure that the opening of the bottle (such as sports bottles) is wide enough that it doesn't come in contact with the chiller mechanism. You don't want to spread any germs.

My wife makes sure that the bottle is quite a distance from the chiller tap to avoid contact.

Consider that a can of worms fully opened

  13. Its always nice to see Children on cruises.

They bring out the very best in all of us.

Even the very young ones, are so cute.

Hope that You have a great vacation.

When we took our youngest onboard at 9 months old I was taken aback by how friendly, courteous and generally lovely fellow passengers were (I had been expecting tutting & grumbling).
