I think you are talking about the F line trolley, which is not easy with luggage- historic cars that are frequently jammed with pax. Uber or taxi would be the better choice. Or perhaps walk, if mobility is not an issue.

You know the cruise Terminal is Pier 27, about a mile from the foot of Market?

Thank you for the information.  I've been to the city twice and wondered if that was the old trolley.  I would not want to have to load/unload from one of those beautiful old things.  Mobility is an issue for my wife.  Uber or Taxi it is.

  2. We will be staying at the Marriott Marquis, 780 Mission St.  I think we will Uber from SFO to the hotel, not sure about the walk needed from Powell St to the hotel. I understand there is some form of transit line near the hotel that will go to the pier.  Looks like on Market St.  Is something can be managed hauling luggage?

Thanks for any and all assistance.

When planning this trip we were figuring that the Panama Canal would be the highlight of the entire trip. I think we can say that we were not disappointed. Thru the CC boards we learned that the Panama Canal ship excursions are your best bet but, they do fill up. We booked our excursion pretty early on-line. It was a wee bit expensive but worth every penny and actually took the whole day.

So what do I know about Panama? Sad to say not very much and disappointed I did not do some research before I left. I knew that the French had tried to build the canal... failed. With the US coming in behind them and getting it done. Gee! I think this happened again in the late 50's for the US when the French bailed out of one of their colony called Vietnam. Sorry I digress. What else do I know about Panama? I remember in 1989 when President George HW Bush invaded Panama to arrest their president General Manuel Noriega. Since my return I have watched quite a few documentaries on the canal. Especially liked the one which documented the story of the transition of the canal from the US to the country of Panama. Also did some research on the fees charged for the Panama Canal that I will share later.

When Beth and I went all excursions were cancelled. Unrest in the country.

Kevin, and anyone interested in the history of the Panama Canal, I highly suggest reading - The Path Between the Seas by David McCullough. It is a fascinating story of the history and day to day life during the build.

  4. I'm very disappointed in this. I love the hot glass show and it is one of the reasons I continued to book on the three ships that had the shows. I've asked Hollywood Hot Glass if they will continue to have shows though out the cruise like CMOG did. Hopefully they will reply, unlike Celebrity...

Last weekend I took a hot glass class, and I can tell you that you can learn very little in 20 mins. I think your participation will probably be selecting colors, and blowing on the pipe, but I doubt you will actually "gather" the glass and work it in any meaningful way.

  5. We have been on Calabaza twice. It is the best excursion we have every been on. Gina makes all the food herself, and it is very good! Constant attention from the crew. As someone mentioned, they take a LOT of pictures. Then, they don't sell them to you as other companies do, they put them on their web server and you can download all of them in a zip file. The rum punch is amazing!

  6. We were Reflection 2 weeks ago and was very disappointed in the changes to the Tuscan Grill menu. I loved the Tuscan Onion Soup! The bean soup was very good and I will order it in the future, but I really miss the onion soup. Caesar salad is no longer made at table side, and the Mac Cheese side is no longer there. :( And the one thing that frustrates me the most is having an "Upgrade" priced steaks in a place where you are already paying an upgrade to be there. I know most all lines do something similar, but it just doesn't seem right, to me. YMMV.

  7. We went to So5 last week on Reflection. My wife loves sushi and she really enjoyed it. I had a very nice Japanese Red Ale that I really liked ;) So5 was very busy every time we walked by, much more so than Bo5 ever was. Personally I would love to see something else, the Deli idea was good one. But from our limited experience, So5 is here to stay.

  8. I use one, mostly on excursions. Even as prevalent as GoPros are, I still feel a little awkward walking around the ship carrying one. I don't feel that way when on an excursion as pretty everyone has one or camera recording everything.

I have a lot of great footage from snorkling, sailing, etc... The downside is, for me, I've found that I hate the editing part, where you make a real video of what you have recorded. :(
