  1. We are thinking of going on a cruise with extended family and bringing our kid along with us, who at the time, will be about 3.5 years old. I've been on about 9 cruises but never with a kid. Many excursions require a taxi or transportation to get there. Do you bring a car seat? What if the car you are riding in doesnt have the capabilities to accommodate your car seat. Just throw caution to the wind and hope for the best on the ride? Just wondering how other people dealt with transporting a kid at each of the ports.

  2. We just did rose hall last week from falmouth and it was outstanding. We loved it so much we want to go back to just that resort. We booked through resorts for a day and it doesn't look like they pick up in ocho rios. The ride from ocho rios would be over an hour. Maybe you can call rose hall and see if they have a suggestion. I saw online that jewel runaway bay has a water park now and they pick up in ocho rios.

  3. Beyond the gates is scary. We drove through the town on our way to Hilton Rose Hall. No way would i walk around that town. rose hall is an all inclusive and we bought a day pass. We were the only ones from our ship there. Beautiful grounds, great food and drink.

  4. We have done rose hall twice. We booked through resorts for a day dot com. Loved the food and property. Nice beach, lazy river, slides and amazing jerk chicken. First time we went in early December and it was more crowded. Went mid January and wasnt crowded at all

  5. I ordered some tops from them that were garbage. They were so tiny. I'm kinda tall and i looked at the size charts ahead of time, but when the items arrived they were not wearable. I gave them to a sorry 2 neighbor. Thinking it was a one time thing, i ordered some maternity tops on there that were skin tight and short. They also went to a neighbor after that. I even ordered a size up. After that i unsubscribed

  6. Also, consider wearing a rash guard so you don't have to put much sunscreen on your body at all. My husband and i are both pale and we are always scared of missing a spot, so we just go with long sleeve rash guards and we are good to go.

  7. Hi there. We will be docking at the international pier on our cruise next week and have an excursion booked at 1230pm. We are looking for something to do in the morning. Last time we were in cozumel, we docked at a pier that wasn't in the greatest area. We had to take a taxi to get to all the nicer shops. We just want to kill a few hours and wasn't sure if we could go wander around near the international pier,or if we need to take a taxi to get somewhere.

  8. i usually wear mine around the ship because i dont have pockets alot of the time and dont want to drag around a purse.

i suggest getting one of those waterproof lanyards to take with you on excursions. I'm very anal about leaving my card and documents out on the beach while i'm in the water. i just get one of those waterproof pouches, stick my seapass in there and wear it in the water

  9. You will find (since this is your first cruise) that a cruise is nowhere near a camping trip.

After my first cruise I had a box full of things similar or the same as things on these lists that were never used nor needed...ever. Some of it went into the Goodwill bag or trash after a few years. I could have made a deposit on another cruise for what I spent on all the what-if things I hadn't thought of myself, I believed the people on these boards must surely know more than I did, they had cruised before.

Take what you need to take, but think about every item that is packed. It all adds to the weight of your suitcase and can change the size of that case. This all adds to the hassle of getting to your destination and organization once onboard/repacking once the cruise is over. Be reasonable with yourself, don't just rely on other people's suggestions. Don't pack anything that is supplied by the ship or hotel. Exception, toiletries, the stuff onboard ships is awful.

We have learned to cut back to only essentials and it makes for much more pleasant travels. My essentials will be different from your essentials, I can do without the majority of things listed on packing lists.

People here are friendly and want to be helpful, just as I do. I just wish someone had pointed these things out to me before I went. It was an expensive lesson.

i totally agree. the things you find essential are not what others may find essential. ive been on 5 cruises and have never needed a power strip, night light, or some of the other items people have posted. i try to pack light and pack mix and match clothes. for pajamas, i bring old tshirts and old stretchy capris (work out type capris) and then just throw them away at the end of the week. i have a zillion tshirts that i get here and there for free at events and i save them up for cruises. just wear them and throw them away.

just think about all the items you are packing and relaly think about what you are actually going to use and onyl bring that.
